Marshal Ney was among the most inspirational battlefield commanders in history, a born soldier and brilliant tactician… unless his fiery temperament got the better of him.
He lacked the confidence for high command, but under the Emperor’s supervision, he proved one of the Grande Armée’s greatest combat leaders.

1:10 The allies had brought the Peninsular war, to the Spanish, their war of independence, to a victorious conclusion. It had been a long and hard road, steeped with blood and suffering. The alliance between Britain and Spain had been treacherous to navigate, but in the end, both nations fought alongside each other, with Portugal to drive the French back across the Pyrenees.

After the court-martial decided on 11 and 12 November that it did not have jurisdiction, Ney was tried on 16 November for treason by the Chamber of Peers.[35] In order to save Ney's life, his lawyer André Dupin declared that Ney was now Prussian and could not be judged by a French court for treason as Ney's hometown of Sarrelouis had been annexed by Prussia according to the Treaty of Paris of 1815. Ney ruined his lawyer's effort by interrupting him and stating: "Je suis Français et je resterai Français!"

I sometimes wish that i wasn't born this decadent generation. What would it be like to live back then. To be leaderss who lead from the front? When emperors and kings were made not by their name or their title, but by total victory on the field. Can there be a greater high then being aclaimed by an army that has endured with you?
