In 1980 when Shogun first came out I was almost 14 years old. I love watching it on TV 📺 but I didn't care for the Last Samurai. He actually played as William Adams a British navigator who became a samurai, had servants, wife, samurai retainers, land, and building ships.

He is born in the same year as one of my grandfathers. My grandfather just passed away, was sad to know him gone. Time just flies away.

Richard is still with us, he's about to be 90...but there is a new Shogun series on Disney Plus coming out in 2024 so people are searching out for more information hopefully some will give the original a watch it was a gem.

My mother threw out her VHS copy of Shogun when she found out that Chamberlain was gay.

That's because lots and lots of women were in love with him during the early 1980s.

William Adams was English not British.

      @@michaelwhite8031 Explain then.

Because he was born in Kent. His real name was Will Adams. People born in England and have generations of family from there are English. Just as Scots are Scottish and Welsh people are Welsh.

@@michaelwhite8031 You still didn't explain your comment..I'm aware of all that..how do you define British then? You don't call an Irish or Scottish person British because they live in the British Isles..English people are generally referred to as British.
