Kerry, I know space is at a premium in a skoolie, but I would save a small box of pieces in case you need to do a repair. I've been a long haul truck driver for 23 years, and I know how the road can shake stuff loose
I've gone searching for a seascape mosaic idea to do in my bathroom and yours is beautiful! I laughed to myself when I realized that while I was watching it that I am wearing the same shirt as Mike is in this video! 💙
I love your videos. It’s helped me through the last year of chemo, twice, radiation and 4 surgeries. I’m on the mend and everyday should be lived like it’s your last. I think what y’all are doing is admirable and I’m green with envy. I going to start redoing my RV in January so I can hit the road when I have enough energy to complete my renovation. As a retired architect I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’d do a skoolie but I don’t have that much time and I don’t have Mike’s hands on skills. Remember cut twice and measure once. I look forward to seeing you adventurous videos of y’all traveling on the road with Miss Kitty. Happy trails from the sunny and now cool north Georgia mountains. 🌈🌞
There is a reason your still here on earth, and "God Has A Bigger Calling For You." Dig in and get as much done to be road worthy, and meet new RVers they can help you finish it out as you go. God's calling will present itself to you when He's ready. Don't sweat it and just do it!!! I'm a survivor also, and I just started on a 40' Van Hool conversion. Do the bedroom first so when you get a little tired you can rest comfietable, and keep your cell on you at all times. God Bless You, w.w./Oklahoma
Shower is "Kick Sand Awesome," and done by a real artist!!! Thirty plus days and counting down!!! Your touching a lot of life's for the better!!! Thank You, w.w./Oklahoma
Wow I love your shower mosaic. That is super cool. I've been doing my kitchen backsplash with broken dishes. But my mosaic looks nothing like yours. Mine is very colorful but you have done an absolutely tremendous job on shaping your tiles.
I haven't seen a road runner since I was a kid!! I was born in AZ, but moved to the PNW before my teenage years. The shower looks amazing!! I love the starfish, it really ties it all together! You make it look so easy!!! Can't wait to see the finished product of all your labor and love. Great job finding that drain on eBay! I found lens covers on there for my bus brake lights (I managed to lose one). It's a great place to go treasure hunting!
Hi Mike, Hi Kerry, Once again I'm glad to see you both looking well and Kerry your shower Mosaic looks fabulous, you have done such a great job on it...Well back to bed for me as I have to get up in three hours to go grocery shopping to keep out of everyone elses way, stay safe you two and keep well, love to you both as always...
I know this sounds weird I could sit and watch hours of video of you doing the mosaic I used to do mosaic years ago but my hands don't let me do it anymore that is such a beautiful shower wow👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👍👍👍. ✌🤙❤👨🍳🎅🚌
As always, informative and entertaining video. Karry, this shower is coming out so beautifully! We watched with baited breath for the Big Reveal and then - “stay tuned to next time”....arhhh, can’t wait to see this project done, it’s beyond lovely! Great camera work Mike.
Can not say enough about how great it looks!! Still can't believe how much work it was and still some left! BUT Those showers will be so much more satisfying! Looking, awesome guys!
This is the only video I’ve seen, but I subscribed bc y’all are totally precious and adorable and this is such an amazing project! Definitely a “feel-good” watch! Thank you guys for being you ♥️
I am probably too late but one tip I got from pros at tile, was to deepen the grout lines around the tiles. The grout is key! deep grout lines will make your job last.
Awesome!!!! Oh my. Grouting 😖 I’m scared for you. Hahaha You can never sell this bus. I can’t see it belong omg to ANYONE else. After watching you guys for so long it’s clear this bus is just a massive representation of who you guys are. Love the bus and love watching you guys finish it up! Excited to see where you adventure to first! 🙌
Yes, Yes, Yes ,Delivery the most wonderful. creative motivation. I love you Forever. I followed Ken D Berry since this January and have lost everything. 65 pounds , all the inflamintion and all the pain. and all the while enjoying your Bus Build. And its all related by you tube. Your channel is the best. The Shower is totally wonderful. The colors really pop. The greatest DUDE and BABE rock You Tube Love Sincerely, Eldon!!!.
Looking great! Can’t wait to see it completed. One suggestion, I’d suggest you apply the grout to the shower walls ASAP as this will really lock in the tile. Again, looks awesome!
The shower looks so good, I'd hate to use it and get to dirty. Great job Kerry !!! Mike you were great at supervising that tile job, good commentary too. Waiting for the grout !!!
please share with us your process of de-junking and getting rid of house hold stuff. I have 2 years ahead of me and I have started giving children stuff.love you 2,can't wait to meet up someday.
Kerry got an early start separating items she wanted to keep but the reality is that we were ruthless in decisions we made. At first it was difficult saying goodbye to things that you wanted to do something with someday. After a Time it became way easier to grab handfuls of things and throw them in the trash. The reality was that we were storing things that we never touched and holding on to things that we probably were never going to use again. Except for some sentimental items and some hard to replace items, it wasn't that hard to separate ourselves from our junk.
G'day it will be interesting to see if the tile adhesive stands up to the job, it's not meant for excessive movement and the bangs and the vibration of the bus, the stuff is meant for a house wall with little to no movement. Construction adhesive or some silicone that can take the movement and shock of the movement of the bus, but good luck guys and I really hope that it works out, if not you can always add silicone or similar bit by bit. John
that looks amazing! I wonder, though, because of the smooth finish of the plates that adhesion is going to be an ongoing issue. If you look at tile, the grout side is porous and rough, giving the thin set something to bite into. Oh well, just keep some grout, thin set and some tile tools on the bus with you and fix it when it breaks.
It would be more expensive and time consuming, but it would look so good if you used multiple colors of grout: blue for the sky, white for the clouds, etc. Please give it a little thought. I regrouted a grey kitchen counter with white, and it didn’t even have time to set up before I was scraping it all out to redo it in grey. Worth it though.
I can’t believe your leaving us hanging like this. Come on Kerry, your killing me Smalls. It’s looking fantastic though. Hope the yard sale/moving sale went good.
Dear Ms K, while Mike seems to be something of an open book, you, on the other hand are a walking enigma. I have decided that you were, at one time, THAT teacher; probably elementary or in the arts but nonetheless, THAT teacher who like Ferris Bueller, was adored by the Goths, the Graters, the Heads, etc. as a "righteous dude". Maybe not in this life, but sometime, somewhere you were the teacher that young women wanted to be and even the scruffiest boy broke his dour facade to release the artist within. On a scale of 1-10, might I be a Sherlock or more of a Schlock? In any case, we admire your Beauty to Mike-gyver's crusty Beast. BTW, your work of art shower is a masterpiece and really should in the Louvre, not "the Loo"!
Love your bus! You two have done a fabulous job. Did you by any chance save a few pieces of each color of tile just in case a few break down the road? I'm hoping they won't but seems you would have trouble matching colors? Just a thought. Both of you have a wonderful week.
Question.... why didn't you guys use e600 glue instead of thinset? In the wall concrete or cement or something? Genuine question tho....I've seen people use e600 doing mosaic tiling on sinks and vanities. Then they used grout on the whole thing. This is beautiful BTW. 😍
Brilliant. Rather than throw the broken plate pieces away to go to the landfill, what about taking pics and putting them on FB Marketplace or Craigslist?
What I've learned is you need to have smaller pieces around your main focal point and then your pieces can get larger as the area is further away from your focal point. And you need to have some tile Nippers to be able to shape your pieces
Doesnt matter a lot with the walls but make real shure to lay the tiles flat on the floor if one of the points are slightly up even a tiny bit theres a big chance you cut youre foot on it you could sand all the glazed edges but tuat be a LOT of work the mount of tilebits in the big bin reminds me of sumting a filipino neighbour of mine did , she used to send balac bayan boxes to the filipines , those are boxes that are send there for a set price and are not limited in weight or by wat you want to put in it , i just need to fit inside the box , the boxes get consolidated intoo a sea container and redistrubuted once on the islands whenll they chaged that policy slightly with a maximum weight after my neighbour decided to fill the box up with glazed tiles for her new home in the filipines turning the box intoo a clay block of roughly the same size as the size of the box , the guy picking the box up for shipping allmost couldnt lift it and he still had to go down 4 flights of stars with it
Don't leave all your tiles. bag some or put in a jar for decoration. they will fall off or break...moving bus...It would be hard if not impossible to match forever. I've never made a comment to anyone before. love yall working so hard.! sure you've thought about that..
Liquid nails is mastic and will fail due to prolonged water intrusion. Liquid nails is an organic compound that decays when exposed to water. Liquid nails is a very poor choice of adhesion.
I wonder if you should keep a small tub that has a few of each color tiles for on the fly repairs? You would be so frustrated if you needed to repair something and couldn't match it up!
Why did you put contact paper on the front side? I think I would have used and did use mesh backing to create the design and then install it. That way you have got absolutely nothing that you need to take off. And all of your tiles stick. It also gives additional Integrity To Your Design. Try it next time you do a tiling project
I hope not but I think once your actually driving around one peice at a time is going to fall off and this projects going to be a regret. It's a really cool idea I just dont think it's a project that should of been put into a bus that's going to have a earthquake everyday.
Kerry, I know space is at a premium in a skoolie, but I would save a small box of pieces in case you need to do a repair. I've been a long haul truck driver for 23 years, and I know how the road can shake stuff loose

Thank u so much you just gave me a great idea what to do with my scrap tile

I think, since the plate pieces are also glazed on both sides, so there isn't a good amount of tooth on the back side for the thin set to grab onto.
Doesnt matter a lot with the walls but make real shure to lay the tiles flat on the floor if one of the points are slightly up even a tiny bit theres a big chance you cut youre foot on it you could sand all the glazed edges but tuat be a LOT of work
the mount of tilebits in the big bin reminds me of sumting a filipino neighbour of mine did , she used to send balac bayan boxes to the filipines , those are boxes that are send there for a set price and are not limited in weight or by wat you want to put in it , i just need to fit inside the box , the boxes get consolidated intoo a sea container and redistrubuted once on the islands
whenll they chaged that policy slightly with a maximum weight after my neighbour decided to fill the box up with glazed tiles for her new home in the filipines turning the box intoo a clay block of roughly the same size as the size of the box , the guy picking the box up for shipping allmost couldnt lift it and he still had to go down 4 flights of stars with it
So cool! How did you get all those tiles on the wall perfectly cut the same?
Hand cut every single piece to fit from dinner plates.

Kerry, do you have any Greek in you? after your penchant for plate breaking.
VERY JOINT WORTHY.....PICTURE ME WITH A BIG SMILE HERE.
How long did that take you? The contact paper is an excellent idea. Im happy your so close to being on the road!
over 2 years but not constant work.
@@BussyMcBusface im just a hair over 2, but working alone..hope to meet you 2 on the road! Bus looks great!
@@BussyMcBusface one more question, what kind of living are you planning in while on the road? Boondocking, parks, BLM? All of the above? Lol
Oh no you could have given them to me. Your broken up plates look like my broken up plates
I would've donated the broken plates to a florist so they could use as potted plant base in place of stones. Recycle, recycle, recycle.
Should have used liquid nails behind all of those tiles, the bouncing in the roads will cause them to pop off.

You must have killed on tetris. What do you do about the sharp edges? Aren't you concerned about cutting your feet?
Grout to the level of the tile
You need to wear safety glasses when breaking the tiles.
