In the fan going to another concert vs tripping in front of them situation, I honestly appreciate groups that can like other fellow k-pop groups, even outside of their company. I know competition is inherent, but I'd like a group more personally when they can admit to fan-boying/girling to another group too. There are too many multi-stans out there, too many varieties, styles and people to gravitate towards. Also, tripping is a very human thing. I know it's called being an idol, but the industry also plays on a parasocial nature of feeling closeness to someone you do not know. Seeing someone be human and still be an inspiration is much more important than having a perfect image. So many people stan various groups because they are ridiculous, weird, out there and funny. Being perfect and pretty doesn't create that connection, a connection which not only makes everyone feel closer, but in turn also increases popularity and therefore sales. Finding the balance between being human, but also being cool to do dances, sing and perform is a balance I'd think all k-pop idols strive to find. You want to be relatable. Tripping and showing embarrassment, but pushing through, or perhaps playing it off coolly as a joke shows that you're a tangible person and people enjoy connections to others. I'm an appreciator of Ateez, and I've seen Hongjoong promote his other members and sometimes talk about other groups in acknowledgement because he likes to prop people up. He knows everyone has different tastes and styles and is confident enough in his group and members to not always have either himself be the focus, nor Ateez alone at every opportunity. They have a good relationship with Straykids (as well as some other groups) which aren't even in the same company, in which SKZ leader Bang Chan also acknowledges other groups and members. If you're in an artistic business, I think it's important to acknowledge that you're not the only one out there. Appreciating others, while believing in your own strengths and your groups shows maturity and security in what you have to offer. Not that they actively promote each other, but they do acknowledge that they aren't the only ones or try to always steer everything being about them.
One of my favorite parts is at 3:28 where Hyunsoo says "oh, if i do this, i will get edited out" and Hwi says "please edit him out", or 3:56 Taehun taking notes, or the continuous objections of Hyunsoo in the minute 8:13 and Taehun who succeeds, or tries, to debates with below that that 14:17 and 14:53. The minute 14:53 is us fans all day🤣
