I flew to LA with Spirit for the first time a few weeks back. The flight was comfortable enough for the price, excellent flight crew, and it was clean. It was affordable and completely safe. I've heard the customer service can be awful and there are really rude flight crews. However, my flight was excellent! I will be flying with Spirit again.

Maybe some people are sore about Spirit not offering in flight movies or food. My first time at flying was on National Airlines from Miami to San Francisco, back when there was no internet. We survived.
I’ve had great luck with Spirit! At 6’5” I buy the big front seat but find Spirit is fine. Flight crews are professional, well groomed and very friendly. Bags waiting for me when I get to the baggage claim area! Awesome as I know they farm out their ramp service, but it seems good.
I agree with everything you said. I've flew with spirit a few times and everything was fine except the leg room space was a little tight but besides that no problem at all. And for the price, you really can't complain! Definitely would recommend and WILL fly with spirit again!
Same thing i said. They could use about 3 or 4 more inches of leg room. Thats my only peeve. Other than that, i really didnt have any problems with spirit. Check-in was free, my bag was free & flight left on time.
Flew spirit sea tac to Vegas and back. Got on board for the trip back. Back toilet was broke, we didn't move. The pilot had a problem and needed to fix it. Didn't mind that. Better on the ground then in the air. Soon the cockpit was full of people. 1 hour goes by, no fix. Something about 2 hours it's ready.the air conditioner was running as it was 110 outside. The batter was dead we needed a jump. None came to fix the back toilet and a constant line waiting. Next the pilot came back and said he needed fuel I thought you did that before takeoff? Is this normal for spirit?
I have flown on Spirit Airlines 2 or 3 times. Going to be flying again. I think all of the times were into or out of Detroit. In my case they do not come across as a low-cost airline. By the time I pay for flexibility, a front seat, baggage, it is a costly ticket. Perfectly fine. Happy to pay for the services. I really do not understand all of the complaints. The most important thing about an airline, is safety, safety, and safety! What I like about Spirit Airlines is they use Airbus planes and for short flights for example from Detroit to New York rather than flying on one of these smaller planes, like an Embraer 175 , which I think is less safe and not as stable in the air especially in turbulence due to their smaller size, you are flying on an Airbus A320 with powerful engines. My belief is that is much better to be on A320. So this is one strong advantage. You cannot get that type of plane, going from Detroit to New York on other air carriers, or at least it's not a common occurrence. Those small planes, are less spacious, and have smaller seats. Whereas on Spirit you can get one of these large seats in front for cheap and you are on a solid Airbus plane. I do not have a whole lot of experience with Spirit, but so far they have been just fine and safety safety safety is what is most important.
Spirit offers “big front seats” which are a first class seat on any other airline with expanded leg room. They’re like 50 bucks to upgrade. It’s a great deal in my opinion for longer flights
I think Spirit is a good airliner for the single person who just wants to travel places for really cheap. The people who complain are probably big families or high-class business people.
Honestly idk why people knock spirit. I fly back and forth from NJ to SC(literally a 1 hour flight). I’m not paying $400+ for something shorter than my work commute lol I get also get the seats in the front. The staff is always SO nice. I can remember flying last Easter and the attendant remembered me and took a minute to ask me about my holiday. Now I probably wouldn’t use them for a 6 hour flight. But for a short one I’ll use them every time 🤷♀️
Not necessarily as most aircraft come pre-painted from final assembly. Airbus and Boeing both offer painting at the factory. Now that American doesn't polish their planes anymore, all aircraft are painted. The difference between yellow and white paint is negligible. Since the weight of the paint is included in the factory weight and balance/ efficiency data, the plane will perform as advertised, regardless of what color it is- as long as there is only one coat of paint on the aircraft. Also, I'd like to note that Boeing produced a pretty good article on painting vs polishing back in 1998! You can find it here: www.boeing.com/commercial/aeromagazine/aero_05/textonly/fo01txt.html The weight of paint on a 737 (comprable- slightly larger- size to an a320) has a factory 'paint weight' of 179 pounds or slightly more than a single 170lb standard passenger. The wet weight of paint would put it much closer to the 600lb number you mentioned, but still not quite there I LOVE AIRPLANES! :D

My wife and I flew Spirit Airlines once to Florida from NYC several years ago. It was the worst experience I have ever had flying. The ground crew treated people very badly and in some cases bordering on rude. We got the worst seats on the plane (even our flight attendant said so). Never again!
Flew Spirit Sunday night from Fort Lauderdale to Dallas. As usual, it was good - had the big front seat which is totally worth the extra cost. I did get to experience my first aborted landing which was "exciting". Otherwise it was uneventful and a good deal to get from point A to point B.
Nah I just didn't want first time flyers to be scared of America's most popular budget airline. I don't deny that there's a lot to be desired (i.e. not having my knees broken by the seat in front of me)

How do you know what the mechanics do on the planes or how much maintenance they really do. Just because they have planes sitting at the shop doesn't mean they maintain them well
Well I wrench on this garbage for a living. Generally the reason stuff doesn't get fixed is because someone doesn't have the moeny for parts or to staff the shop with A&Ps, investing money into hangars and a nice repair station means that they put effort into maintaining their planes. I have a few friends who work at airlines that don't have hangars at all, leaving their planes to be maintained on the ramp! (In other cases, many budget operations use 3rd parties to do their maintenance). Generally, having an in-house repair station is a very good sign. Also, I stopped to talk to the A&P who was inspecting the plane after the flight, he seemed pretty capable, but I didn't include the interview because he didn't consent, and didn't even mention what an A&P is because 99% of viewers would have no idea.

While Spirit leaves much to be desired, it isn't that much worse than the service on the Big Three, when you fly coach. I am convinced that there is no difference between flying Spirit and flying coach on United for a domestic flight. Both are crowded with little legroom . You might get a free bottle of water from United, but not much else. I flew from Ohare to Sao Paolo in coach. There was not even any entertainment in my seat, though this was almost a 12 hours flight. They did feed us dinner and a light breakfast, but it was nominal. I still have to pay extra to choose my seat. In summary, before you judge Spirit, think about how great flying coach in with the major domestic airlines. If anything, they are following Spirits model.
I hate flying. That being said, I’m leaving on vacation with my husband and 3 kids soon. We’re flying spirit airlines. It’s going to be 8 years since I’ve been on a plane and my kids first time. Crossing my fingers that we make it back alive. Lol
It'll be great! Flying has never been safer, and it's way safer than driving! If you're still feeling uncomfortable, remember that the plane itself is $110,000,000. No one would spend that kind of money on a plane and charge $9 per seat if they weren't going to get millions of safe miles out of it!
@@MachMediaYT I’m one who works at a county medical examiner (county morgue). I’ve been around death for 35 years. You are FAR FAR more likely to be killed in the car ride to the airport then on the plane! Think about this: 2019 there were over 36000 fatal traffic accidents nationwide. Compare to 280 commercial aviation deaths in the same year. Best of luck getting to the airport safely. If you do make it to the airport alive, have an awesome vacation.

mach: You to
worker: ok *takes ticket* bye
My wife and I flew Spirit Airlines once to Florida from NYC several years ago. It was the worst experience I have ever had flying. The ground crew treated people very badly and in some cases bordering on rude. We got the worst seats on the plane (even our flight attendant said so). Never again!
Flew Spirit Sunday night from Fort Lauderdale to Dallas. As usual, it was good - had the big front seat which is totally worth the extra cost. I did get to experience my first aborted landing which was "exciting". Otherwise it was uneventful and a good deal to get from point A to point B.
Guys just to let u know spirit airlines does not suck 1 year ago I went on the airliner to tampa florida and it was AMAZING during the flight :D
I was on the spirt airlines i didn't like it at all . It is not low cost because they make it up with the luggage fees.
My first time flying was with spirit last year. Wasn’t bad imo
love the video. love the enthusiasm. flying spirit for the first time in a couple weeks for our honeymoon
Hope you enjoy it!
Is is called spirit because that what leaves your body?
Airplane fact: there are airplanes in this video!!!!!!
Simply put, you get what you pay for.
Same, In a couple of hours i have a flight with RYANAIR the flight is at 6 AM and I gotta wake up at 2 AM atleast the ticket was only 7 Euros.
I’m ngl, spirit still make me nervous 😭 but for my flight back home from miami, it’s either spirit or jet blue sooo 🤷🏽♀️
They're both VERY safe! It's far more dangerous to drive or stand out in the middle of a field!
The quality of your videos is getting better exponentially :)
I try :)
Do you think Spirit Airlines seats are crammed then don’t fly on frontier
this video was really entertaining and informative. thank you!
AirplaneFriend! I’m glad you’ve found something that makes you happy
Yes! Thank you!
Spirit Airlines must have sponsored this video.
Nah I just didn't want first time flyers to be scared of America's most popular budget airline. I don't deny that there's a lot to be desired (i.e. not having my knees broken by the seat in front of me)
Its not the airline that schedules the flights. Thats like deciding what time of day you want to go to school
The editing and humour were great. I actually learned something:D
Looking forward to your future airplane friend 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
During the 10 months worth of data that we looked at, Frontier and Spirit Airlines tied for the most average monthly complaints per 10,000 passengers. At 27 complaints per month per 10,000 passengers, they had the least satisfied customers overall.Apr 26, 2021

Nice Review Congratulations You just won a Spirit Airlines Sharpie Ultra your a WINNER 😎
This comment has won. Everyone else please go home
My sister Nancy and I flew on Spirit planes several times and never had problem with the Plane at all The pilot on plane number 741 on our plane return home with No visibility and he did an amazing job with out an issue in landing the Plane .
That's awesome! Did you know that airline pilots are trained to be able to take-off, fly, and land a jet without being able to see AT ALL!? Absolutely insane!
Maybe an angel flew the plane then because with no visibility in the return flight and many Prayers that I prayed all of the way back helped Us land safely .either way we landed in Cleveland Ohio on Thursday with out an issue .
Been flying Spirit every other month for the past 10 years from AC to FLL and back..99% on time..very reeasonable fares (dont need baggage) seats a bit hard but cant complain on a 2 hr flight...Thanks Spirit for Great Service and Price..
Where did u fly too
from your first video to this one, theres a lot of improvement, good job airplanefriend!
Next one is going to be much rougher 😂
@@MachMediaYT Still good content! I love airplanes! :D
I just used Spirit and the staff is so nice and funny and it's clean and safe.
Pilots can’t land for they life
I think that's just Airbusses in general
You live in Metro Detroit that's beautiful that's probably one of my favorite airports it's a very simple airport to navigate but Frontier delayed my flight all the way till midnight on Christmas Eve I wanted in Florida December 24th at 2 in the morning this fight was supposed to leave at 5
How do you know what the mechanics do on the planes or how much maintenance they really do. Just because they have planes sitting at the shop doesn't mean they maintain them well
Spirit has a great safety record, and some of the newest planes in the sky. Don't believe it? Check with the FAA.
I’m on it now. It’s cheaper but for baggage it’s a little more expensive.
3:27: their good at their jobs.
3:29: doesn’t show the life vest properly.
They are good at their jobs.
And the life vest demo has been changed due to covid-in an effort to keep possibly contaminated objects from our faces, we’re allowed to hold it up and demonstrate it that way. Sorry of you think we should get the rona so you can see us put a life vest on. Like you pay attention anyway. Fly safe! Xo
@@ceceliaclarke8427 ummm, this is not pre-covid, and the attendants are indeed wearing masks. Might want to rewatch the video, poodle. Have a magical day!
My experience 2018 from Boston to Orlando was terrible 😫 we're at 2 last seat of airplane. I'm 6 tall men but my back and knees was killing me, around my seats was a family eating, 🍗 KFC, Burger 🍔 king , smell like onion 🌰 my 3 hrs fly, people chewing chicken 🐔 bones like never been eat. I ask fly attended to move and he told me, that's why you paid is no way you find seat, never again . I always call Spirit Arline a "El Gallinero" 🐔 Chicken 📦 box 🏡 house
Wonderful video thanks😊I've flown with spirit one time and it was a very good experience. I'm a former flight attendant so I kinda know what a decent flight and crew is.
Am I the only one wondering if she lived?
Captain and First officer pay at Spirit is lower than the average. It is on par with other low cost carriers.
The new crazy black Karen video led me to this lol
1/6/2021 will be my first time flying Spirit. I’ve been on Frontier a few times & had no problems. Can’t wait to see which one is better. Thanks
Have a safe trip! I’m flying with them for a third time tomorrow to Orlando.
Flying to vegas on spirit tomorrow! Hope it wont be all that bad.
Not bad flew to Vegas from Indianapolis flight wasn’t bad at all
@@marquesjohnson2903 my trip wasnt that bad either. I flew nonstop from newark for damn near 5 hours. Only gripe i may have is the seating. Going there, i was in an aisle seat so i was able to stretch my leg but coming back, i had a window seat twice due to a layover in atl & my leg got a little bit cramped. Overall, i'd give it 8/10. I'd fly with spirit again but i may have to spend that extra $20 to choose my own seat.
@@whooelse9444 absolutely spirit is great if you got non stop flights just booked 2 trips to Florida this month and April Fort Lauderdale bout to have a ball next week
@@marquesjohnson2903 cool. Im thinking about going back to vegas next month so i'll see how the prices are looking.
@@whooelse9444 definitely best time to go out there is sept through October in my opinion it’s not to hot but not to cold either have fun I’ll be back out there around the dates I mentioned
I find it interesting how you call out Spirit for having 6AM flights when literally almost every airline does that lol
Exactly 😂
It’s called a redeye
am aware, just wanted to poke fun!
Spirit is ok...for short flights. I'd never travel cross country on them. But if you want cheap, you get cheap. It is similar as European carrier Easy Jet.
spirit moved my flight over 6hrs ahead of regular schedule causing me to miss my flight, they hang up on me everytime i call them
Discovered your channel recently. Interesting video. I'll be flying them tonight with my Mom. 4+ hour flight!
Premiere gang, wya? Oh wait, we're still watching the premiere
Frontier is worth the extra money also a lot of people on Frontier Airlines we're Spirit Airlines Flyers previous way they couldn't take it anymore
The reason why it's called Spirit, is once you fly it, you lose your spirit for planes (also, great video!!)
😂😂
I literally just flown from Las Vegas to Newark it was a great experience the crew to staff was amazing I have nothing negative to say
Nice video!!!
Basically us version of Ryanair
Thanks for giving me ease for my spirit flight :))
They skid off the runway this morning..😂😂😂
Their planes are yellow so they won't show mustard stains
“Spirit Airlines…Fly with us, and we’ll see”
Great review right on point
