My fav pattern weights are a Very Good hand-sized rock and a small ceramic light-up pumpkin. I've been watching a bunch of walking skirt tutorials lately and this is one of the most clear and accessible ones I've found -- thank you!
Something I really love about sewing is that I don’t have to use a pattern. I have so many videos saved on making various things, and half of them use a pattern while the other half just make it up as they go, and both are super helpful even tho I fall into the latter category. I’m honestly just too lazy to learn how to read pattern construction so I just use what I’ve learned over time and hope for the best.
This is probably the most lovely shape of a walking skirt,, at least to me - I like it so much. Thank you so much for uploading this with such nice instructions, I will be making my own walking skirt soon and I will surely get a lot of help from your video! Thank you and I hope you're well!
I want to make a slightly greek summer dress, very similar to how your top and bottom go together. I have the perfect cherry striped linen for it. Considering people we're wearing their literal underwear out to the stores this last summer, I think It'll be just fine. It was °103F with a humidity of %98, I'm preparing ahead of time. I'm also going to find some just barely decent thin cotton to do the same, meaning three steps back from sheer.
Thank you for making this! I've been using a 5-gore Victorian pattern and I wanted something just a little different. ps: I found you from V (Snappy Dragon)
If you want pockets , you could make those cute external pockets that sit at the waist with a belt. That could be really cute......no pocket haters here , honey. Just us who love to see what others create. You've done a wonderful project. And filming the process was great entertainment. Thankyou, and not too much talking either. Bonus! I'm a newbie here. Take care, stay safe
how do you do the box pleat on the back? to achieve that same effect? I want to try doing it but I don't understand the back part >< also might just add an invisible zipper or hook and make it high waisted
Hi! The instructions for the Trumpet skirt pattern I put out recently has illustrations of how to do this kind of box pleat! If you want to check it out here's the link ko-fi.com/s/d0ef3c7b25

I don’t get why everyone wants pockets in everything…but you put stuff in the pockets and it breaks and interrupts the lines of the skirt. Don’t get me started on wedding dresses, what do you need to carry that’s so important on your wedding day? Jeeze
Hi! 👋🏻 About pockets; As a top designer once said; Give women too large pockets, and they ruin the lines of the clothes, because they put too much in there. 😂 I’m afraid she’s right. We’re 100% guilty. It’s the instinct we have for carrying around “just in case” stuff. 🫣
Omg I can't wait to see the next episode of "Rating Random Objects as Paperweights.* It was thrilling!
The skirt looks excellent! Well done.
Thanks!

😊I love to hear it
I know from experience how it is to sew with a cat in the room (or on your lap). It doesn't get better when they grow bigger!
oh dear
To be honest. I wasn't really expecting it to be all that great, because it's made from a sheet, but boy was I surprised! It's really quite lovely. 💕😽
So proud of you, it looks amazing for a sheet 😂 Good job!
thanks!

So nice of your kitten to help. I think they shoved the pockets in the back of these skirts to keep the lines nice and straight.
thanks! I think you’re right about that
I like the color and the pleat in the back. Thank you for sharing your kitty...
Ofc!
I love the kitten 😻 So cute 🥰 The skirt is lovely; and you look so elegant in it 👍🏻
Absolutely gorgeous walking skirt. Thanks for sharing your process and you personality is so much fun.

Cette jupe est très élégante, et te vas à merveille. Et ton chaton et très mignon aussi =°w°=

Thank you for your videos! And your cat is amazing 😍
Thank you! 😊
Pretty!
I would love to see how you made that back plead. Maybe idea for next short video?!?
I love the dress. it's so beautiful 👍💪❤️
Thanks! and there will definitely be more skirt videos coming in the future don't worry 😉
Love that color!
You are unbelievable underrated! Love this! Do you have any tips on how I could alter this to omit the box pleat (to save on fabric + more modern)?
Thanks! you can totally do that, just make sure the shape is full enough that its not too tight over the hips
This skirt is so beautiful! I've never sewed clothes in my life, but I'm going to attempt this one! Do you have a specific pattern that you use?
Hi Suzanna! I don't have a pattern for this one but I will be releasing a pattern for a similar 1900s skirt in a few days!
@@Ora_Lin sounds great! Thank you!
I love how this came out, the shape is fantastic! And the fabric is beautiful too, that deep purple is just *chef's kiss*
Thank you!!
This is such a lovely skirt and video
Thank you!
I watched the video over and over again but I couldn't see where you constructed the back to look like this 21:12
Just gotta make a pair of them separate pockets, tie em over top
It’s beautiful!!! Do you sell them?
I don’t sell them ready-made but if you’re interested in commissioning a walking skirt you can email me! oraminglin@gmail.com

The skirt is lovely. Well done.
Are you taking part in CoSy (Costume Symposium), on YT, Aug 19-22?
- Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown
Yes! I will be part of a young costubers panel

Where did you learn how to sew? 🧵 🪡I want to start sewing but I don’t know where to start, any tips? :)
I’m mostly self taught! my best advice is just start. There are lots of tutorials here on UA-cam so you can look up things when you need help!
Im here at over 1k subscribers. Wanna come back here when shes at 100k 😊
I hope so too!
Can you show how you did the pleat?
Hi Vicki, I cant show you in UA-cam comments but my Trumpet skirt pattern has diagrams for how to do this kind of pleat! ko-fi.com/s/d0ef3c7b25
I never put pockets I don’t like pockets in my skirts
Use kitchen butter knives as your weights 🤔
