She tried to ruin a family's reputation which could've affected their livelihood as well. She deserves more than 6 months
We had a similar situation happen in my home state of WV. We had a tourist from Egypt get taken to jail for questioning because a mother lied about him trying to kidnap her kid. Then she lied that he patted her child's head. When police were finally able to get security cameras, the man was nowhere near any of them. Why do people lie about such things for attention? It ruins lives and is a slap in the face to people who actually are victims of crimes.
The falsely accused couple should file a civil claim and make the $ big to keep others from doing the same thing.

If the truth about her lies hadn’t been revealed, the couple she accused would’ve been sent to prison, possibly for life.
I have heard stories time and again where someone is falsely accused and they are facing decades in prison and every time the false accuser only faces a minimal jail time. Even when someone does do time for a crime they did not commit and it's been proven the accuser lied the accuser still only faces minimal jail time. Our "justice" system is seriously screwed up.
So how long would you give her? I was about to say, give her the same sentence as a kidnapper, but then that seemed rather harsh. I don’t know 🤷♀️, what you recommend?

@kerry nicholls Great question 🤔 I'd say if the person the falsely accused has already spent time in prison then they should spend at least the same amount of time (if not more). If the person the falsely accused hasn't spent any time behind bars then whatever level the crime they were accused of should apply to them. What I mean is if they accused someone of a first degree felony then they should be charged with first degree felony filing a false police report. They risked putting someone behind bars for possibly decades they should face a jury for their own fate for up to that same amount of time. There is a case in Michigan where a woman named Sara Ylen, a serial rape accuser, had falsely accused multiple separate men of raping her. One man spent 15 years in prison before she was caught and he was found innocent. Sara Ylen got 5 years in prison. Was that fair?
This is done on purpose....they need these types to use the system and the systems apparatus to keep others and u know who the others r in check. That's why they don't prosecute liars like they should...the system has to chew some folks up and spit some folks out

Back in the day, people like this mommy vlogger got people killed by making false accusations. And even if the truth was revealed later, it would have just been an "oops" for her and she'd been able to move on with her life while an innocent person died for nothing. At least this incident happened today and the innocent couple were able to clear their name AND the correct person was punished.

I have a feeling she didn't know that simply reporting an ATTEMPTED kidnapping would be investigated very thoroughly. She probably assumed that since the "kidnaping" wasn't successful it would just be forgotten about bc it was a "no harm, no foul" situation. "I was only kidding so I'm free to go, right?"
Where is the footage from Michael's showing the alleged kidnapping? They have CCTV inside and outside of the store.
Sadly I have a family member who does this. I actually removed myself from social media in part because I couldn’t stand seeing her dramatic claims come up in my feed. I hope one day she gets the same type of justice for running her mouth for attention.
Tell that family member of yours that one day someone is going to retaliate with a 9mm.

I could tell that lawyer what his client misunderstood: she "misunderstood" that the store has surveillance cameras, which the police could then review and see that she made the whole story up. That was the only misunderstanding in this travesty.

I really need our justice system to start holding people making false allegations accountable... How about when a person is making a report ask them what they think the perpetrator should receive as punishment. Mostly I have met the wisdom of my mother who was very rarely wrong about people and me who was often wrong suffered the consequences when I ignored her advice. My mother's been gone forty years my father too. You never fully realize how wise your parents are until they are gone. I've known a few other people that exhibited the same voice expression, hand and body movements, and eye movement. You two women that I know that match this example are both crazy I do not know how their children came out one didn't have any and the other one had three or four. But I haven't been in contact with them in 30 years. Not relatives just passing acquaintances.

Hopefully this is an example to other influencers. She isn’t the first one to do this but she is the first to be charged. People will do anything for clicks and views at the expense of others. It is a horrible thing to do to innocent people. I am glad this family followed through with this.
I firmly believe we need laws to reflect the punishment of what the innocent person would be facing if you lie like this. A lie like this would then be considered a felony.

Haha the Petaluma mom! I used to live there and lemme tell you, Petaluma is one of the nicest places in the state. It's also one of the most pretentious places I have ever lived at. When this whole thing came out, the amount of people who knew this was a lie was insurmountable. The fact that everyone could tell she was lying too, if your kids were just almost kidnapped, you're not gonna hang out outside the place the attempted kidnapping took place and film an Instagram story.
