Thats one of my problems is they haven’t even decided on a flight model yet. And game developers always want to turn combat into rock paper scissors 🙄. So it’s best to just wait until they finalise how everything works in twenty years.

Edit: save even more Buy upgrade to Apollo medivac and Apollo triage this is also one of the 12 silhouette pictures to be coming out next year. There is not a lot of evidence for the Ironclad going up that much in price. In fact, look at the Starlancer. It concepted at 250 and sold at... 250. CIG is getting smart about pricing and value for ships. Not to mention, the Ironclad Assault +100 puts it in range of the Orion, Odyssey, and other capital ships... What a hard sell. More than likely the Ironclads will increase about 50$. So the Ironclad lines up between the 600i and M2, and the Assault lines up with the Liberator.
@wafflesinsanity if you're correct and you may be 100% on point. gaining a $50 jump off of a $10 store credit investment just to see is a pretty nice savings in itself. Ironclad assaults will be up $15 for a $50 jump is still nice but I am am thinking it is in a higher demand. the fact is that they expedited it to the front of the list tells me there is a huge demand and therefore I believe in cig fashion. They're going to try to capitalize on this $50, 75 even 100 could be possible for $10 today?
I bought my Polaris last year through the CCU chain and only paid $525 for it. Now look where it is. The Zeus CL was $135 warbond, it is up $40 now. Not to say anyone should buy these, but if you are good at the waiting game, if you get a Paladin at warbond, that is $40 toward something else right now. I imagine it will be as much or more than the Redeemer in a year. If you are money smart person, buy a cheap starter pack, find a friend that has all the big ships already and work with them. You would get all the advantages to starting with big ships and no real money in. I buy because I want the game to succeed.
Yes ccu's under $110 were not available, and more overlap with previous. I was holding off on execution of a chain until I heard the BIS skin was only bound to the account if you use a CCU chain, had to execute a C1 chain :-/
They are clearly saying "Stop buying ships." That is what I am hearing anyway. What they are missing is that it is getting in at the lower end which gets people buying the higher end ships. No more new chains for me. Once I fill in what I have now it is done and if they do not let those gaps fill then it means melt other chains to complete then be done. Doing things to increase short term sales at the expense of long terms does not bode well. Them having a short term view means that they are not seeing a long term future for this project.
I still don’t know what to do with my final large ship purchase. With the way CCUs are going, I cannot afford to melt and start a chain again on it. It will never likely be as good and would cost too much new cash… I’m a support role based player. I have all the usual suspect: Apollo, Crucible, Vulcan and saved enough in cash/CCU to reach a Perseus (which I have always loved). I don’t love the Reclaimer, but it would fit my ‘fleet’ better. -> Not sure if I should get the Perseus (and use the exciting Polaris loaner) or hold off for future updates to all of these ships?
Generally yea but the last 2 days with terrapin and Gemini filled in the big gaps for me turning multiple 100 dollar ships into 400 dollar ships for under 50 bucks each
I think you have the Polaris jump in price all wrong. The jump would have been to differentiate it from the smaller ships like the Hammerhead and the Perseus. It sets it in a higher tier from these ships and begins to bridge the gap in pricing to the larger capital ships.
Although I've taken advantage of WBs over time I've also lost money through silly mistakes like melting ships and not purchasing in USD (if you are outside US like me). If you purchase via PayPal you get a worse exchange rate than what CIG offer. Also as we get credited in USD when we melt ships. These little things are worth noting and highlighting for fellow citizens.
no org will start day one 1.0 on a polaris, no one will have the resources for the upkeep and justify its use. Everyone will have to start the game with starter ships or stuff around that size to make money and earn out way up to those bigger ships. And its unclear if we will be able to buy/craft the bigger ships by then without having them pledged.
Yes lets raise the prices and lower the deals. That'll make us spend more money. How's that working for you cig? Anyways thumbs up on the video. Keep up the good work.
I’ve been a backer since 2015. My fleet has changed considerably over the last 9 1/2 years. It will continue to change as I see changes in the game. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t expect to need a ship that can hold more than four or five people. I’ve melted all of my bigger ships. My play style and frequency is such that if I want to participate in operations that require larger ships I will just join org raid events. Most days I’ll have an hour or two or three to play and if I wanna go mine some rocks, I’m not going to host a raid just so I can take out an Orion. That’s too much like work. Realistically, I’ll take out the Arastra or mole or a cargo ship with some ROCs ,with three people or four people or five people will have lower costs and a better time. TLDR yes the game has changed and with it the way I view ships and what I buy has changed also.
The one huge problem I see in the future IS: CIG said then game goes to production, all ccus need to be applied. Is it correct or not? Do we need to worry when they are pushing now to release the game?
1.0 is at least 3 years away. You'll have plenty of warning. At worst, your CCUs get turned into store credit. There will still be some form of ships for sale (they'll just cost more).
If you plan on playing the game till 1.0 and beyond, save some money and a lot of angst, and buy an Intrepid Starter Pack with LTI, put enough $ into the game to give you a credit pool, and push you to Concierge territory, You can then create another account, gift that starter package to the new account, as Concierge dont need a game package, and 2 accounts will give you choice, and the option to play a seperate game loop. As Concierge you'll get 2 buyback tokens every Quarter on your main account as well as additional concierge benefits. Steer clear of referrals as they are false savings and $ upgrades, there are no savings in reality, you set yourself on a path to keep spending, lock away credit, and referrals cant be melted unless by support. A$Upgrade chain is just that.....a CCU shakle
Yes I have change what ship size I get I've changed my fleet to smaller crew size but I have kept the Polaris and the Perseus just because LOL the Crucible I am hoping will not need as many crew as they say but we will see when they make it
I believe they will eventually create some kind of mechanic to put people's excess ships into use (and I don't mean only pledged ones, bought and crafted as well). Like wouldn't it be really cool if you could "rent" out your ships to ai so they can go do missions and have those ships maybe even appear for other players into missions, making it risky to use them that way, so you would have to insure them somehow stuff like that. CIG will very likely come up with stuff like that even if isn't as complex and just like "mobile" style of sending them into missions and having a fixed chance of success etc, much like STO have in the way of crew assignments etc.
No NPCs and forcing real player multi-crew on these large ships really killed my appetite for larger ships. I always knew they would require a crew, but I hoped that I'd be counting on AI NPC Crew when the time came.
I have one of those super old and super big fleets. I've stopped looking at capitals outside of a few cases, and started looking more at large and medium ships. I wish I could go back in time and not buy any of the big boys and stick with medium and large ones.
Agree the Pricing/(Ratio of Cost:Savings) for WBs looks like its getting worse and its rather disappointing. Personally had considered WB CCUs a good/High value microtransaction but it seems they want to mitigate that.
Tbh, at this point im frustrated that over the years doing those ccu upgrades ive spent over 8.500 dollars on that crap and im still not able to get all ships i want since theyre always hidden behind some scam quantity limited sales and never buyable in a single pack. It really infuriates me how bad the customer service of this company is.
Right now buying ships is largely unnecessary but the way they're trying to sneak "warranties" into 1.0 should be a little concerning, when they indicate that they will be rare and hard to get in game but auto included with anything from the website. 🤔🤔 Are you going to basically need warranties on every racing ship or fighter but not necessarily your prospector or vulture?
CCUs are trash this year. We have had 4 ships have a CCU that each had a value of $175, meaning there was no way to use each, you could only pick one. This was made worse by the fact that hornet CCUs conflicted with these meaning there was no way to use them. That and the lack of $0 CCU meant the A1 CCU is useless for moving to the medical terrapin but would have been nice to have. There were some decent ones like $40 off the Prowler but then this was negated by poor ones like $25 instead of $40 off the Reclaimer. As far as fleet planning goes, from the get go I have been planning my fleet with crew constraints in mind and so most of my fleet consist of ships that can be fully crewed with 1-3 people. There are some things like the Endeavor that break that rule but I fully expect to park it somewhere in space and use it as a base of operations more than a ship.
I don't think they should stop making and selling ships. That is always an individual choice whether a person want to buy them or not. But I do think they should sell a lot more ship paints, weapon skins, armor skins, and any other cheap items they can put 4 to 6 employees to creating. I think CIG is losing a lot of revenue on cheap items. They should also lower the prices of the current paints. They would sell far more of these small items from the store if they weren't $3-$22 each and packs for $44. Make all these skins and paints $2-$10. I bet they would sell way more of them.
Love space tomato content however viewers need a clear frame of reference and streamer privilege delivers so many ships to your hanger 99% players must buy or grind. And if you’re sold The dream a $400 ship is a Hella grind in game.
The last time they offered a Warbond CCU to anything like a starter ship was the C8R a couple of years ago, and it was $5 off. You simply can't eke out much of a discount on low range. It's often worth it to upgrade a referral bonus vehicle to a low-end ship if you are certain you don't mind locking in that upgrade chain. Then you could have your Intrepid for $20-30. I'd call that a bargain.
I totally disagree with your takes, if anything this is hurting their sales by not giving out more and better ccus. I know several people including myself that would never had spent money in this but because of ccu gaming have spent thousands. I used to buy bulk ccus and spent like 300-500 dollars every event now I barely spend any because of how they are striking ccus. I think the reason they are doing this is to curb the gray market and the negativity that has behind it, and to try and be more fair to newer players who cant get the same level of deals. I believe its the long term goal to phase out ccus entirely eventually.
Everything is raising in price and the funding is still down about 10% from last year. (And I thought it was going to be worse with the crappy offerings this year, but some people can't help themselves I suppose).
Yes I stopped buying ships and want to get rid of my Polaris - all because of mastermodes and engineering need. Only bought Paladin this show. Normally spend $5k per year on ships.
If anyone is has terrapin the upgrade to a 320 SCU Railen is a steal as this ship will increase in price. and also if you have a firebird a $5 upgrade to an Zues MR is also a good deal. Just dojn't expect them soon.
I’ve unsubbed. Sub flair was supposed to improve this year. It’s deteriorated. And i’m fed up with the questionable morals regarding ship balance and sales this year. I’ve jiggled my fleet around this IAE but I’m not in a rush to spend more cash on a ship that won’t be the ship I expected in 6 months time when a newer similar ship comes out. I feel that the people in the best position to buy ships are new players. But loyalty goes both ways for me and I’m not seeing a lot of loyalty from CIG for established players this year. I think CIG need to start looking at new funding models.
There is no way you could get a Polaris that cheap. There is nothing in the game that jumped that much in value so you could get a Polaris even at it's lowest price. Please set proper expectations. At best you could get 50% many years ago, now it is more like 25% if you are lucky.
The old CCUs were crazy, so when you collect them over the years, it's pretty amazing what you can put together if you have them. I don't know if you are right or wrong, but I've seen people get ships at 75% off. Exe has been doing this CCU stuff as long as I've been around this community (many years), so I wouldn't doubt him.
I first pledged only 3 years ago. I've got multiple CCU chain with discounts in the 60-70% range. It requires diligence and I wouldn't lead a new player to expect that, but someone could easily get to 40% discount levels in 1 year if they were starting today.
Only been in the CCU game for 2 years and I have a 60% saving on Polaris and 55% Perseus and Orion could have been more but I missed a sale or two. Very achievable, just takes a long time!
Discounts I've got by upgrade chaining over the last 3 years: $55 Vulture, $90 Galaxy, $200 Orion.
But keep in mind that a 65% discount is not a bargain if you buy 4x more ships than you intended. Keep a leash on your spending.
yes it is, you can still just sell the extra 3 ships if you don't want em anymore and maybe even turn a profit

@@BlakedaBull That would work for a lot of people, me included. I'm already making a ranked list of original ship names so I'm ready.
CIG is selling limited-hull ships again within this IAE - is this the first time this has even happened?
You can't teach a tomato new tricks.
All I did was buy CCU's from February and have spent very little new money this IAE
Where’s Agrid been?
anyone that thought they could solo a massive ship, literally was just a circus clown. honestly.
Too bad there are no good chains to the Intrepid.
I'm melting down the warbounds I've bought in this IAE because of how bad they are. I increasingly regret being a backer.
You could always contact support and ask for a refund on those upgrades.
Dude you missed CCUs from last week. Like the 10 dollar reclaimer to prowler
You are wrong
If this veideo was on CNN Tomatos channel it would be called "UPGRADE CHAINING...THE END FOR STAR CITIZEN?"
