- This VFX Side Quest is a blast from the past as Hashi converts regular videos into the iconic sketchy hand-drawn styling of a-Ha‘s iconic “Take on Me” music video!
If you’re drawn to this sort of thing, download the free After Effects template and pencil us in for a fun afternoon of sketch-ifying. The template works with After Effects, and is enhanced even further with some Trapcode Form, Primatte, and the brand-new Universe Texturize Motion.

Thanks for the kind words all. The template is pretty versatile if you’re willing to get in there and mess with stuff- especially the Form settings - I got so many cool looks and I’d love if you come up with something awesome I didn’t even think of. I love you all.

I downloaded the project files, but there is only one folder called "Footage" - no template? Besides that, I loved it! Where can I find the template?
@ - odd - we’ve checked it on this end several times. I’d suggest trying the download again and contacting support if that doesn’t get it.

That song intro is top notch!! We were working on creating a similar look for a story about the pandemic last year. I really love how you are using particular to create the edges of the mattes, that is really smart and a much better way to do it than the manual way we did. We were using C4D black/white cell-shade renders for our mattes. Very cool! Thank you for sharing!
