Must have been '96 when i hear you guys for the first time, saw you in for the first time '97 or '98 Rochester, NY, almost got a beat down because the crowd surged and the dude in front of me thought I was being an a$$ hole. Saw you guys a few more times on Vans Warped Tour and here we are damn near 30 years later and I still listen to Less Than Jake on a near daily basis. Looking forward to getting back state side one of these days and seeing you guys again. Much love from Japan.

I do think I prefer the old version of this one more, but this is also one of my favorite songs ever. This one is very close.

I said this on Boring Town 23 but I'm sadly not super into these new recordings. I think it's super cool they did them and having super clean and clear instruments and vocals is cool. But the high energy of the original recordings are diminished significantly here in my opinion. Maybe I'm in the minority and that's fine. Y'all are still awesome regardless. Hoping for more brand new music next year maybe? Silver Linings was really good.
No, I actually agree. Boring Town ‘23 isn’t quite as guilty of it, but with Metalheads there’s a certain… grit to it? That’s lost with this. I think clean is perfect word to describe this version. It’s cleaned up significantly, for better or worse.
@@jordangeer8964 I agree. It's particularly apparent on the chorus, when the crunchy guitar is supposed to come in, but it barely does. In fact, it seems like the guitar gets quieter. It just doesn't have that same pop, the dynamics all seem very squashed.

the vocals are too clean, not enough of that raspy shouty sound, and the mix is like, really awful? I don't understand how or why, but it's just terribly mastered.

original will always be best but i am really enjoying rogers vocal changes here, theres some lovely little melodies that were not in here before! isnt as aggressive as the old one though musically, and the intro being changed just makes me sad haha

I kinda prefer the '98 version. Vocals go harder. I like the smooth vocals on this one though, but it's the difference between SICK! and Yahoo! Both are great, well done

The auto tune is not that great, I love this song but it’s kinda a down grade, and they can still make music, I loved the newer album, keep on chasing is one of my favorite songs just in general but idk what happened, add the raw vocals onto this and I think it’d be much better

It’s a bit distracting but the original Rockview album has it too, it’s one of the first major rock albums to use Pro Tools

Besides, Pro Tools it's just a DAW; pitch correction it's done in Melodyne, which is something different.
@@danielsolano330 They talk about it on Chris DeMakes a podcast. The producer of that album used Autotune 1.0 (off a floppy disk!). It's only super noticeable on Hello Rockview '98 on the horns, it's pretty subtle on the vocals. It's far too present on this rerecord though.
