Thanks for a great visit...we sat down with all twelve in our family...my daughter reminded us that they all were a result of our blind date 56 years ago...we had a lovely meal courtesy of our children...1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12❤❤

We visited my daughter and son-in-law shortly after they were married to help them cook their first Thanksgiving dinner. They lived in an apartment and it had a garbage disposal. I had never had one, so I put the potato peelings down it and immediately plugged up the sink. We had to call the super and he didn't come for several hours. My help turned out not to be very helpful! At any rate, the meal turned out great and now that I have a garbage disposal at home, I never put potato peels down in it. Lesson learned. I have a sweet story from Thanksgiving. My grandson said grace and his entire long grace was about how thankful he was that his grandfather and I spend so much time with them all year long. Touching! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11

We played that game where you pass around the Saran Wrap ball and try to unwrap it wearing oven mitts but you only have until the person ahead of you rolls doubles with dice. It was a riot!
Glad you all had a great thanksgiving. We've after several years found out my son was allergic to crandberries. He only had it on Thanksgiving at my MIL it always made him sick along with breathing issues. The year we found out my MIL didn't add it to her stuffing. No funny stories, but we were blessed to visit family near Chicago and meet our great nephew who is 1. On Friday we took the train (first time for me) downtown and went to the Kris Kindle Market. I had so much fun. Then on the way back we were on the train all decorated for Christmas. A magical day for me. 3, 4, 6

We invited a family from our neighborhood to our family Thanksgiving dinner. My husband was getting ready to say grace when the 8-year-old neighbor said he knew the best grace for Thanksgiving. My husband told the boy he was welcome to say the grace then. The boy is so serious. He directs everyone to hold hands and bow their heads. Later, my husband told me he was glad to see a youngster leading the prayer until....the boy began praying, "Rub-a-dub-dub and thanks for the grub. Ahmen." I had to bite my tongue not to laugh. I’m running out of time!!! So much to stitch, so little time!!! We had a very quiet day. Everyone went out of town, so it was just my husband, my uncle and me. So low key and quiet. Of course I couldn’t tell everyone how wonderful it was because it would have hurt their feelings. But made a pecan pie cheesecake for dessert. So sorry no one else was there to taste it. My husband says I need to make many more before Christmas. We won’t be able to sit in our chairs if I do. Love y’all!!!!

Several years ago, I went on strike and told my kids and husband that I was not making Thanksgiving dinner. They thought I was just kidding but I wasn't. Thanksgiving morning everyone got up and went into the kitchen. I wish I had filmed them. It was hilarious! Needless to say, I heard about that all year long :) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 Thanks!!
#11 my brother made the stuffing one year when my parents were out of town. My mother told him to cook the giblets and put the meat in the blender with melted butter and herbs. He put the whole neck in bones and all.

When we were living in married student housing back when we were going to college, my friend and I were going to fix a big Thanksgiving dinner for our husbands. Having never done this before, we really did not know how to make a turkey. Our husbands couldn’t believe it took as long as it did and the timer button never popped out because we checked on it about every 15 mins. Took about 8 hrs to cook.

Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving stories with us. We had a great time at our family reunion Thanksgiving. It was fun watching the cousins who are in their 70s boss each other around. Most of the food is cooked at home, but some things are cooked in the church kitchen where we have Thanksgiving. 1, 7, 10, 11, 12

Our daughter hosted Thanksgiving and burnt the marsh mellows on top. Flames took over the casserole. We scraped the marsh mellows off and started over. We laughed and it turned out fine and they were really good! 1,2,3,4,6,8,10,11,12

My Golden Retriever Joey barked as soon as he saw the raw turkey on the counter and then barked as soon as we began carving. He only stopped when he got a few bites. #2,7,10,11,12.

We had 20 people at our Thanksgiving dinner. Nothing funny but we had a surprise gender reveal for our niece who is having her second baby. It’s a boy, She presently has a little girl. We are all thrilled! 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,11

Glad you had a great thanks giving. Our was interesting. The oven did not work so when my dad put the turkey out when it was supposed to ready it was still raw. We went to a China buffet to eat and had a good time watching people tackle each other trying to get the crab legs. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.

I had a friend who was a newlywed many years ago and wasn't much of a cook at the beginning. When it came to making her first thanksgiving dinner, she wanted to make biscuits and didn't realize you had to separate them when you took them out of the can. I guess she thought they would separate on their own...lol. We still talk about it to this day. Cash is growing up so fast. What a handsome boy! Looking forward to the home tour. Not anything funny happened but every year my granddaughter’s play a video at me reacting to my one granddaughter throwing a cup of Sprite at the other, I was not happy about the mess and they video taped it. They probably will play this every year.

All the family comes to our house, and since we live in a very rural area, they stay for 2-4 days. This year we had someone go tubing in the cold lake water, played pickleball, did a lot of axe throwing, and went in the jacuzzi after dinner. Not really any funny stories, except this was the year everyone called to ask, "Can I bring someone?" We had 18 people for Thanksgiving dinner. It was fun.

We typically host my husband’s family for Thanksgiving and at least four times, our microwave or oven has gone on the fritz right before and we’ve had to make a mad dash to repair or replace the appliance. 1,2,8,9,12

The following year the turkey burned and was too dry to eat.

10 & 11. Our favorite story from Thanksgiving is when my grandnephew walked around the house with black olives on all his fingers. He even ate with them as part of his appendages. It was so funny to watch 🤣
You guys make me lol. That’s a good relationship you all have that you can joke like that. My youngest sister once said something about no pictures and I told her we’d have more but she was adopted, We all laughed so hard. Thanksgiving was a small and quiet one. Just the 4 of us. I used paper plates and plastic silverware and didn’t use serving bowls, served from what they were made in, lol and I didn’t clean up my sewing from the dining room table so we sat where we could. Super relaxing and no fuss or muss.
One year we had thanksgiving at my oldest sister’s new apartment. She put the turkey in to cook overnight. When she checked on it in the morning, the oven was cold - it was broken. My other sister and BIL had to run down to WM and get a canned ham. The year of the broken oven has been a funny memory for years 🤣 2,3,5,6,10
Don't have a funny Thanksgiving story, but we had a wonderful time. My family (Me, my husband and kids on down to 8 greats) are now at 29! Most were able to come, as they live close by. What a blessing! I would love 1,3,6,7,8,9,10,11,12

One Thanksgiving when I was young, we were all seated for our meal, a table full of guests in the breakfast room, a table full in the dining room and a table full in the family room. And then all of a sudden, the breakfast room folks went ohhhhh and started laughing, then the dining room people and then in the family room, where I was sitting, I saw the attraction! Our springer spaniel, Patchie, was prancing by the window on the deck which stats at one end of the house and can be viewed from all of the rooms. In his mouth was a very stiff and very dead squirrel that he was proudly showing off to all of our guests! His Thanksgiving presentation 🤦♀️

I was in MO visiting all my kids for thanksgiving which this yr we combined w Christmas since I can’t go back then. I had given my son a tshirt. His 2 yr old nephew saw it, says ohhh red then oohhhh so soffy and want to wear it. They put it on him. Hung to the floor and to his hands. All night he would put his arms in the air to move it up but he refused to take it off. He wore it home and to bed. If he hadn’t gotten sick on it he would probably have worn it all day Sunday. 1,10,11. Happy thanksgiving and thanks for a hilarious floss tube
No accidents in the kitchen this year, but one of the funniest things on Thanksgiving was my oldest son imitating Chris Farley’s “ Matt Foley” Character from SNL! 😂

Years ago as a young wife with little kitchen experience I tried to wow my husband’s family with a fancy jello mold that looked like a wreath with a cool whip and coconut icing. Unfortunately, I had not taken into account we had over an hour drive from out of state and I also made the mistake of unfolding the jello onto a serving plate and decorating it. Holding it carefully in my lap did nothing to save it as the jello began to soften, become slippery and slid off the plate into my lap. I was mortified!

One thanksgiving we had an ice storm. No electricity. Kids were small. We had a small fireplace so we brought our mattress down from our bed and we all slept together in front of the fireplace and roasted hot dogs on the fire with marshmallows later. The kids loved it. lol. 2, 7, 10, 12

My first time ever cooking a turkey, my college roommate and I decided in order to save time we would stuff the turkey the night before. So, we got everything ready. In the morning, we cooked it in the oven & made all the other side dishes. We had some friends over for dinner. We were eating the turkey & stuffing & all the things raving about how yummy everything tasted! We told people how we had stuffed the turkey last night to save time and everyone just stopped. It got silent. Then someone said, you're not supposed to do it the night before. That's dangerous. There could be bacteria! We all looked at each other. My roommate & I looked at each other & started busting up with laughter. We apologized if anyone ended up in the ER but went back to eating! Oh to be young & foolhardy! Luckily no one got sick. But I never stuffed the Turkey the night before Thanksgiving again!

Thanksgiving funny story - Every year after dessert, my professional pianist mom would gather the grand and great-children around her grand piano, place my Dad's Santa hat (which he wore every year until he left us) on the piano, and sit down to play Christmas carols, which we all sang loudly. The highlight was when we got to Twelve Days of Christmas, and for some reason the male grandchildren would fight over who could sing "Five Golden Rings" the loudest! A tradition they never knew they were creating...but lives on.
We always spend Thanksgiving at our oldest son’s house. We have since they were first married. This year they were sick. So we had Thanksgiving at our youngest son’s house. Funny story, in making my sweet potato casserole recipe, my niece set the marshmallows on fire in her oven. We have a video of her opening the oven door with flames shooting off the marshmallows on top. She’s yelling for help, and her father & 2 of her brothers are all firemen. She wants them to do something, but they are watching football. One yells back, shut the oven door & they will go out. They did. 1,2,3,4,5,6,9,10,11 & 12.

My funny story the pumpkin pies fell over in the car and the puppies were traveling unleashed in the cars . Before I could pull over off the highway they had their faces covered in pie . Ended up at the grocery store and bought frozen sarah lees !

Funny Turkey day story was when my sister did her first Thanjsguving, turkey wasn't done, dressing was stovetop and she didn't know how to do the sweet potatoes...

We went to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. After dinner, we played the longest game of Uno ever. We will probably talk about Thanksgiving Uno for many years to come. We finally just gave up and counted points. The points at the end of the game ranged from 35 to 336. I always enjoy your adventures from local dinners and family events to longer plane trips. My brother-in-law showed up for dinner with a burnt/black pumpkin pie and offered it to me with a straight face. I guess I did a good job of hiding my surprise and thanked him. That’s when he laughed and said he did it to see my reaction. Then he gave me a perfect pie. 1,3,4,5,6,10,11

My funniest Thanksging story happened this year. I made an apple pie the day before and put it out of the way on top of the dryer. I was upstairs getting ready for the day and heard a big crash. Came down and found the pie had fallen off the dryer onto the floor. Glass plate smashed to pieces as well. My fault cause I put the dryer on. Hubby pealed more apples while I made more pie dough,so all turned out. 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11

My husband and I (who are in our seventies)BOTH heard butts. My husband comments that they eat a lot of corn in Iowa. My grandson says bucks again and we both finally realized he was talking about deer. We got a good laugh and realized again we need to go to the ear doctor soon. Sorry Iowa!

These videos are so much fun! My story is a couple of years ago my youngest daughter Tiffany who is very much like Chelsea decided she really liked garlic and went behind me as I was cooking and put it in everything but the cranberry sauce. I don’t like garlic and let’s just say that won’t happen again. We made a family agreement that we wouldn’t re season anyone else’s dishes. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,11,12.
2 6 9 10 12 - I went to cut hard broiled eggs to make deviled eggs. I was about to cut “egg hats” instead of “egg boats”. I had 3 people yell “No!” as I went to make the first cut. Don’t mess with the deviled eggs!
We just had a nice quiet Thanksgiving for a change. The funniest thing that happened was my son went to sight his gun in and I didn’t hear him come back because he went straight to his room. So an hour after the turkey was done he came out of his room. We could have eaten an hour earlier. Happy stitching!

Funny story- I lose my needles all the time to the point my husband cracks up when I search for a lost needle. My daughters family was in from
Florida and to her horror she found a needle in the crack in the couch and couldn’t understand why it was there- my husband and I just started laughing and she thought we were crazy.

#6, 11 Something was wrong with the oven, so on Thanksgiving morning my husband decided to try to fix it. He ended up breaking it instead....so my very kind neighbors allowed me to cook the turkey in their oven. I was able to get everything else cooked on the stovetop (which still functioned) and the microwave. I can't believe we pulled it off, but dinner was on the table on time!
