    Thanks for clarifying the requirements Joselyn. The 30 day onward / return ticket is an unnecessary inconvenience, when they know that people can and will extend their visas. Maybe they could offer an online extension service to make buying a ticket leaving within 30 days unnecessary.

      Totally agree, Philippines wake up and don't follow the sheep. Vaccine mandates and mask mandates are bs control feature$ of placing more control on individuals. Those in power need to reverse the course; we withstood 300 plus years of Spanish Colonialism, American and Japanese - why should we be dictated by Elitist Vaccine and Mask mandates imposed by who? Govt's should stop playing politics and find out how the Chinese Covid Virus was originated, whether it was started by Western Elites and implemented by Chinese Communist. Propagandist have kept everyone in the dark but are making $$$$$ over our ignorance, while maintaining control. Wake up and ask questions.

      @@melissakamber5566 My wife and I went to Manila to visit family a month ago. We are U.S. citizens,my wife naturalized(Filipino) a few months ago(both un vaxxed). You will need to get an antigen test within 24 hrs of departure from home going to the Philippines. A stopover(transiting only) in Narita airport in Japan. A warning if you transit in Narita. This is an international airport, but not open 24 hours. So if you had to leave the airport due to closing time you would be considered entering Japan, Different pandemic rules apply( no worries if you only have a layover of several hours, Airline schedules probably take this into account anyway.). I scoured the web for rules about returning to U.S. Japan Airlines/American Airlines being our airlines. Online the rules tell you no test needed to return to U.S. As soon as we get to JAL desk in Manila, they ask for antigen test, haha! Thankfully we didn't take any chances and got a test the day before our return flight! Take my advice and do the same! By the way, nobody had to wear mask on any of our flights nor in the airports! Antigen test are relatively cheap in Manila, but 100 dollars each in the U.S.

      As she mentioned US Citizens (Non-Filipinos) can travel to the Philippines Visa-free for 30 days. Once there in the Philippines, you can go to Bureau of Immigration (some branch offices are located at major malls like in Cebu or Manila) and apply for another 30 or 60 day extension for around $30-$80 USD only. After you apply and pay necessary fees, I believe you would have to come back same day or next day depending on if there is enough time in the day you applied to see if they approved the application extension then they will stamp your passport. You can do this process repeatedly. some are able to extend up to 6 months or 3 years.
      Applying at the shopping mall makes it more convenient than going to the Main Office in Manila which is cumbersome and confusing process.

      @@ramonsilvas8554, sorry I didn't see this sooner. You just needed your first round of the vaccination at that time. Not sure if it's changed since. So if it was a one & done, that's all you needed. If the initial dose was two shots, then that is what you needed. Besides using my vaccination card for the One Health Pass within 72 hours of arriving in Manila, no one even checked for my vaccination card (US CDC card).

    • @redsyn
      @redsyn Рік тому

      @@jolissa11, I'm not sure if anything has changed since March, but it went smoothly enough for me. Being my second visit I had a feel for the bureaucracy. Having been vaccinated for COVID-19, I just needed to fill out the One Health Pass firm 72 hours before arriving. I also filled out the electronic customs form, but no one checked that QR code nor the form I filled out just in case before disembarking the plane.
      Have the One Health Pass QR code either printed out or saved to your phone for easy scanning when arriving in the Philippines. Obviously having your passport is a must also. I suggest travel insurance as well, but it wasn't required this time.
      I've heard if on a tourist visa from the US (no filing needed for that), that you need to have a onward (or returning) flight ticket proving that you're leaving within 30 days. I wasn't asked to prove that this last time, but I thought I'd mention that. I just told customs & immigration how long I would be staying & the reason, & they stamped my passport allowing me into the country.

Instead you can “rent” an onward ticket that leaves within 30 days (costs about $15). I don't want another episode of what happened 18 months ago when she tried to go home due to her mother passing away and was turned away after one leg of the trip. That cost me $1800 that I couldn't get back.

How can I set a return date for 30 days? Will the airport let you contact them later with a new return date or are we saying the return ticket date of 30 days or less is still needed and if you stay longer you just lost your money on the return ticket?

    Hi Jocelyn, for a unvaccinated American adult traveling to the Philippines, can the mouth saliva test be used instead of the nose test? I expect to travel to Taiwan (first layover) and then to Manila and then to Zamboanga. Do I need to get repeated tests at each of the airports? Or which ones? On the return trip would I just get the test at the Zamboanga airport and then be free to return to America with no other mouth test? Thank you for answering my questions!

    • @lilys5095
      @lilys5095 Рік тому +3

      Don’t know about nose test.
      However regarding some of your questions:
      - if unvaccinated, you need a negative antigen test within 24 hours prior to your departure from your country of origin
      - as long as you stay at the airport during layovers, you do not need another test
      - if you leave your transit airport and enter that country, this country now becomes your country of origin and your negative test must be within 24 hours prior to leaving this “new” country
      - As you are a US citizen, you do not need any test coming back to US.
