The tiny coffins and the pink carriage for the daughter absolutely destroyed me. Rest in Peace. I’m sorry you were handed two fucked up parents that cut your lives short. You all deserved better.
This man tried to kill his girlfriend (who was 15 when they got together) in 1978 by stabbing her over a dozen times when she tried to leave (causing her a punctured bladder, kidney, and liver and collapsed lungs) and had previously shot her in the groin with a crossbow and cracked her kneecap with a hammer and he only served THREE YEARS before he was allowed out again. He had a history of horrific behaviour and was still a free man grroming girls as young as 14 (a girl he "dated" when he was 37), it really isn't surprising he ended up graduating all the way to murder. This country's legal system is terrible and this is just one of many who got off way too easy the first multiple offenses. Those poor kids could have actually had a chance and my heart breaks for them :(
Just to add that when Kim Hill left him (curiously she decided that a man who cracked her kneecap and attacked her with a crossbow wasn't a keeper) he then broke into her house and stabbed her TWENTY SEVEN times. How was she even alive after that??? When Kim's mother rushed to her daughter's aid, she too was stabbed multiple times, and ended up with a punctured liver and collapsed lung. When the paramedics arrived he told them not to bother as he'd 'done a job on her.' For attempted murder and GBH, of Kim and her mother, he was sentenced to seven years and was out in three years and two months.
every countrys justice system is like that. crimes against women dont matter unless its murder. attempted murder, rape, vile abuse - all will only get you a couple of years. even when you commit crimes like that over and over. its like they want men to murder - only then will they give a proper sentence.
Absolutely. It must be hard to suddenly accept that your brother did something so horrendous, and lose six nieces and nephews, but she stuck to what was rightt. I absolutely agree with her saying it should have been 17 years per child
The neighbours were the one spot of hope in this video for me: not only the two brothers who tried to save the children but the community response. The average cost for a funeral in the UK is roughly £4,000 (about $5,000): a horse drawn hearse and personalised coffin would be a lot more. It wasn't a well-off area and people probably didn't have much but they managed to fund a lavish funeral. Small local businesses donated their fees to charity rather than profit from the tragedy. While insincere, Mick wasn't wrong: a lot of people did fight to save the children; they were devastated by their death and furious when the truth came out. Almost everyone in the video, except Phil and Mairead themselves, seemed to genuinely care about the tragedy. It's infuriating that the tabloids used Phil to villainize people who were low income/on benefits when a lot of the people risking their lives to save his children and crowdfunding their funeral were probably in a similar economic situation. It's like the Shannon Matthews case: the (low income) community was absolutely tireless trying to help Shannon and support her family. Yet the tabloids used Karen Matthews and Mick Philpott to whip up hatred and derision against a whole class of people and conveniently ignored the bravery, generosity and compassion of their neighbours, who were much better examples/more representative of that class.

Six children. I very vaguely remembered a story like this but... jesus fuck. Six. They were so little.
my officially recognized sexuality is Tom's shoulder wiggle
I guess no one explained to him that you don’t have to be married to legally change your last name👀 that would throw all his manipul--err logic out the window.
I remember seeing about this case years ago! My heart breaks for those kids and those neighbours ❤
15 years for killing your kids and for less ten 10. No wonder people consider taking justice into their own hands.
Actually insane, 15 years for kids who should've lived at least 50-60 More years, x6? Not long enough
God, I remember watching this all happen. Can't believe they even had a chance for parole. Absolutely sickening.
“despite her putting on a big brown smile” took me out goodnight
The UK justice system is completely fckd. He should’ve never been let out after what he did to his ex.
Just banish him to the colonies like yall used to do. We are so angry and vengeful over here. Drop him off in Philadelphia or Miami and loudly announce his record. He’s got 2 weeks to live 😂
so glad you are doing more true crime sort of content like your madeleine mccan vid hope you do more!
I love Tom's videos, finally I can let go and be mean and cynical after a whole day of being the brightest human being
your true crime is always so good, i miss the shannon matthews video every day but this one will help me to get over the loss x
He comes back every time the world needs him most.
Always a pleasure to see a video from Tom. Don't be so hard on yourself you're a gem. 😂
A true crime video was not what I was expecting to see from you today! This story has got to have gone down as one of the most tragic cases in British history, those poor innocent babies 💔
Damn. I'm from the U.S., so I had never heard of this family before. I started watching this thinking we were just gonna laugh about creepy and weird their lifestyle is. I was NOT expecting such a dark turn of events.
Agreed; I had no idea what was coming. I love Tom, but the tone was all over the place on this one and made for a hard watch with such dark content.
tom laughing at some of the things he says always makes me laugh
Tom is, beyond question, a national treasure.
“I want to be remembered as a father who cares.”
Christ on a bike
Also, on top of all his other crimes, this man made me agree with Ann Widdecombe for once. What an awful time.
I've seen some other interviews with those two men who tried so hard to save the children. It destroyed them and their lives and they'll never recover. Of course, the poor little babies are the main victims of this, but not the only ones. It's hard to believe anyone could do this to their kids
Obvs we come here for a laugh but your being respectful of the kids in this incredible, terrible story is very much appreciated.
I'm so glad you came back with a true crime video. I'll ration this one for the next 3 months.🙇🏻
Tom is my rarely seen internet uncle who pops up once in a while and I am always so happy to see him 🥹😍
The one that brings you the newest video game and give you booze when parents aren’t looking.
my favorite thing about tom are the sassy little shimmies he does to emphasize his sass
getting let off for good behavior is such a hilarious concept like “you are sentenced to 15 years in prison” “what? nooooooo come onnnnnn that’s like soooo loooonnnggg” “fine, but you have to do at least half!”
Tom always coming back with the most random ass content and all of us lapping it up like starving kittens. I’m into it.
Edit: dear god I did not expect that turn. I thought this was just British Jerry Springer but these people are monsters.
Seeing Tom and Primink post again is like the world healing in a way
Derby resident here. Glad to see you maul the monsters Sir Tom.
Edit. The local community was highly disappointed that they didn't get to dish out justice.
I imagine so... next time a psycho "marries" teen girls in your community, take the kids away *before* they get murdered.
More true crime please. I really like how you presented the case.
Jeez that was dark. Poor kids they didn’t deserve that. Too bad they couldn’t get away before it was too late.
TOM. i have never felt so spoiled by this upload schedule love.🥰
He should have stayed locked up the first time he attempted to murder his ex.
I just want to make more comments, so you would be more inclined to post content ;p The sense of humour, the glamour, shaking the chest, the voice. The icon. Truly a blessing and wonderful time to live, to see your updates
I remember this story a suprising amount, probably cus I was delivering newspapers with all the headlines around the time it all went down. Most people that I knew thought the guy was dodgy to begin with. Somewhat livid that the both of them got any sort of parole for what they did. They took 6 lives away from this world. They should have rotted in jail
Wow perfect timing, i just woke up and Tom uploads ❤
Mick Philpott looks like he stinks of cigarette smoke, lager, and Lynx. He’s not just at the circus, he’s the star and the ringleader.
it’s a good day when tom posts
I expected this to be a video making jokes like a teenage wedding video, so when kids died in a fire, I was a little shocked lolol
Tom is so handsome, I can't imagine what the portrait in his attic looks like!
LMAOOOO
Bonus points for obscure reference.
I damn near choked 😂
@@reelmermaid8844It's not obscure if you read above a 2nd grade level
Yes! More videos like this about British stuff. I’m American so I didn’t know about this case
17 years!? those kids ages added up wouldnt make that. it shouldve been life
I love how stiff you're sitting, yet you can tell you're feelin' it by the little shoulder shimmies you do throughout. 😂
if even tom can't be nice to himself, there is no hope for any of us
Duwayne was a couple years below me in secondary school. He was in the same year as my brother actually, though they were in different houses. I didn't know the whole story, or that it was this well-known apparently. Strange to see.
Eleanor Neale did a video on this case! It was very informative. I loved seeing your perspective on it!
Thank you for your service, Tom 😌🙏
0:08 are you telling me this man is 30 years old oh heavens he doesn’t look a day older than 17
Hol on a minute, Tom is 30? He doesn't look a day over 29. Youthful king!
how on earth did they get such a lenient sentence? That's disgusting. They really should never see the light of day again.
THE KING!!!! Tom, your every update is making me the happiest person in the world
You absolutely kill me😂😂😂 her brown smile.... Rubbing their one brain cell together. I am dead. I can't think of anyone else as talented as you at giving the most wickedly hilarious one liners. Can't stop laughing.
6 children died tragically and you’re over here laughing??!!! I love Tom but this wasn’t it. Making jokes whilst discussing this tragedy is sick
one suck job to keep quiet about 6 murders is a crazy deal
ever since my partner pointed out that shoulder shimmy that tom does, i cant not notice it every single time
