I've seen some freckled-ass blonde and brunette people before. 3) The carpet doesn't always match the drapes. It depends on the shade of red hair you have. I for example have dark auburn red hair, and down there is strawberry blonde. It's extremely rude to ask this and you wouldn't ask anyone else about it so please stop. 4) We aren't crazy. We're FUN. Red hair is a Celtic/Scandinavian/Scottish trait and all of those cultures are rowdy. (This one is kinda bad but who cares) We were killed at birth hundreds of years ago because we were thought to be witches. So now you can maybe scare people with that fact if you're a red head idk 5. When we die, we supposedly, well, our souls, "turn into vampires" Also, that "Red" hair dye (What even is that that's not red)...WHY?! It's just a floccinaucinihilipilification (yes that's a word look it up if you don't believe me)
when I get made fun of for being a ginger, I play along with it. in the end, I'm a rare human being and it makes me feel cool. plus I get a good amount of compliments on it too.
I'm a natural redhead/ginger with blue eyes and freckles and I was bullied for it relentlessly both in Montana and in Illinois in the 70's-80's because of it. I don't know where people get the idea that Americans treat gingers with more respect than Brits do. I've never met a ginger who was not bullied a lot because of his/her red hair. Being bullied as a child toughens you up real quick.
+Tammy Quackenbush I was not bullied... but then again I used to embody the crazy ginger trope. That and there were many other things to bully me about. most I got were the weird questions about my hair, and "I'm so jelly of your hair". oh, and this one "You're really cute for a ginger" absolute favorite one right there.
Tammy Quackenbush bullying didn't work with me I ignored them or I'd have a quick comeback to make them feel like s*** about their selves. I have always had what they refer to as thick skin you can't hurt my feelings.
Tammy Quackenbush People tried to bully me but I quickly shrugged it off and people stopped quickly. It’s like “i was born with this shit. What do you want me to do about it? Nothing. Besides I actually like my hair so fuck you”.
now that i am older i see grils and women dyeing their hair red!!! it piss me off !! because growing up in TEXAS ,,, WHEN i went to school ,,in a sea of dark hair and brown eyes ,,, i had hell ,, made fun of all day ,, !! NOW ISEE THESE GRILS AND WOMEN
First Name Last Name I used to hate being a redhead until I did a little bit more research on it. A lot of people don't know that the Giants that used to run the Earth where all redheads but the scientist won't tell you about the Giants they cover it up there are no Giants were no Giants even though there are pictures of the Giants actual photograph pictures of the Giants. So people more fear us then don't like us and I tell them good thing for me I don't care.
Ralphie Shostakovich Donald Trump is probably the most ignorant, arrogant person I've ever heard. I'm simply unhappy that what we call "equality" is actually inequality hushed up to make it almost seem like equality.
+will o whisp Ginger hate wasn't really a thing over here until South Park made fun of it. Growing up in the 80s and 90s and knowing kids with red hair, I never heard names called or stones thrown. Sadly, the show's attempts to highlight the absurdity of prejudice created it instead.
what if i went around asking if black people had souls? does your black hair on top match your hair on the bottom? why is it okay for one to talk about red heads this way? think before you speak people.. smh
@UKSKIDS I watched a video with someone who was ginger asking the questions and everyone was like "the person who is asking the questions shouldn't be a ginger".
Actually, until now I didn't even know this Stereotype was a thing, I mean sure I heard people making fun 'Gingers', but I've never heard that 'no soul'-thing here before actually. Almost every one I met until now was really kind and nice, so I don't really get this whole thing. I mean my hair color for example is worthy making fun of haha, dark brown, black, never liked it, but red? Never got this whole thing. Haha :D
South park episode Gingervitis is where no soul thing came from and I hate how everone views ginger males. they never got anything kind to say about us.
It’s because in the past people with red hair have been connected to the devil and it gets me ticked off when people say that I have no soul, it’s like I have more of a soul than you do.
Danielle Lois I'm American and I was in a relationship with a British ginger woman for about three years. She was warm, funny, sexy and adorable. But, yeah, she kinda felt like of a bit of an outcast back home.
+InTeg3R-9¹³5 NoPreferences Most people in the US don't even call them "gingers". I think that episode of South Park introduced many to that term for them. They're just redheads, and I've never thought of them differently than people with any other hair color.
I do laugh when people joke, maliciously or not, about my red hair and I really do love my hair but it does hurt me inside that some people think "lower" of red hair... It really shows the contempt for red hair within the general public and it's deeply hurtful to be constantly made fun of for something you have NO control over. No one in a normal civilized society would bully a black person for being black or a person for having naturally curly hair or for thin eyebrows and still get away with that but somehow it's okay to embarrass and demean red haired people with no further consequences
I remember when I was a young child I made a remark that now, obviously knowing what I know, would be considered racist. My brother and I both have ginger hair and once (I think I was 6 or 7 years old) a girl in my year made a nasty comment to me about my brother being a redhead. Having experienced endless bullying myself by that point, I felt hurt considering I am also a redhead and was quick to defend my brother, so I said something along the lines of 'well, how would you like it if I called you blackie' - she immediately burst into tears and ran out of the hall. I had never heard of racism, never learnt anything about it from my parents, teachers or any other repsonsible adult, yet there I was being spoken to and scolded for making a supposedly racist comment. Now, I say 'supposedly racist' simply because even at that young age my intent was to emphasise to this girl that having ginger hair is just the same as having black skin. I highly doubt my thought process was quite so eloquent or whatever at that young age, but I was not naive or ignorant enough to miss something so obvious as 'being a redhead' and 'being black' are effectively the same thing . . . My adult brain can fill in the gaps by highlighting these are both biological traits. Even now, whenever I think back on this situation, I feel undiluted anger and hurt well within me. I am referring to the sheer number of times I went to a responsible adult, a teacher or my parents (and my mum is a redhead ffs) to report a series of hurtful remarks and insults - which my adult brain can identify as bullying and abuse - and always, without fail, received the same series of responses in a variety of differing ways: 'Just ignore them' and 'They're just jealous'. Yet, this one time I say something which I had no idea was genuinely cruel - considering the unknown implications and considering it was literally just an acknowledgement of her skin colour - and it immediately received an on-point response from a responsible adult ensuring I never say something like that again. Anything that happened throughout history is, to a level extent, irrelevant . . . Black individuals being forced into slavery and redheads being accused of witchcraft, both experiecing all kinds of prejudice, both ostracised and subjugated is all completely irrelevant in this context and arguably in this day and age, i.e. the 21st fricking century. What is relevant is that all kinds of prejudice, stigmatisms and abuse, i.e. physical, verbal, emotional, psychological, mental (etc., etc.), have the potential to lead to similar, relatable problems later in life . . . Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, self-harm, suicidal thoughts/tendencies or even flat-out suicide (etc., etc.). Just because one kind of abuse can show physical scars does not mean every kind of abuse isn't scarring.
@@luckytri9716 yesss!!! redheads were literally indentured servants for years and were also sold into the carribean slave trade as well. not that we might’ve not gone through slavery as long as them but we didn’t have it easy either. just like them to this day we do get poked fun at and it gets brushed off as a joke until it’s not actually a joke anymore and it actually has an affect on you
I know where you’re coming from but instead of pandering to small minded morons I now see them for what they are; shallow insecure bullies with no real values. Never apologise for who you are just because they’re too stupid or arrogant. People with that attitude are exactly the same as racists that hate people because they have a different skin color and they do not deserve any respect. Society has become so shallow that most of humanity is a joke to me now.
To be honest i have nothing against gingers. I love gingers and they have souls just like every other human being. Ones that think otherwise are kind of paranoid with that "South Park" misconception.
Rare species, I've never laughed so hard. Some people do still look at me like wtf. I had a hairdresser ask me where I got my hair dyed, when I told her it was natural she looked enlightened.
+Danielle Lois same here I got asked where I had my hair dyed because it had more then one shade of red and I said its natural and she said she had never seen that combination of red before unless it was dyed.
+AllPowerful Luxray That all depends on who you ask...people may have different preferences but I can tell you from experience, there are girls who like redheaded men!
1:52 "They're like mutants" Lol, imagine if a red haired person say black people are kinda like "mutants, like subhumans far from Africa?" Anti-racist is codeword for anti-white
Gochkoslav redheads originated in the Netherlands. And it is said that all humans started in Africa so if that's the case they are speaking out against their own race because we are all the same race
Gochkoslav oh my fucking god. redheads are LITERALLY genetic mutants and redhead is not a race. also ginger is not an offensive term. being ginger is fun.
Marissa Ann Well personally I hate the term ginger, i just have gotten used to it because no one is gonna stop callin me that. It may not be offensive to you, but that doesnt mean it automatically isnt for anyone.
Gochkoslav I find out an interesting fact. Red heads are a race. The red haired gene and everything in their body makes him a separate race from most people. I think these people are joking so I don’t take them seriously.
I love how everyone is basically an asshole about the way we're born. Imagine if we said that about an ethnicity, everyone would be outraged....oh wait....
I'm a Ginger, no freckles and I'm also a model. I personally love my hair and would not change it, but I guess many gingers would be bullied and have little confidence to put themselves out there (this does not count for all gingers, please do not take offence), I personally have not been a victim of the whole 'ginger' name calling regime and when I have been called ginger it has just been for a friendly joke between my me and my mates. A big factor which I have mentioned above is the fact that gingers don't put themselves out there, I have been into fashion from a young age and I gained a place in my year at school through my skateboarding, if all gingers stood out and changed there appearance and their attitude, I'm guessing the whole 'ginger' joke would die down again. The term 'Ginger' is nothing but a racist term used by scumbags of the planet, don't let it bring you down.
I always think it's hilarious when people say that we are crazy. Everyone is unique and weird in their own way, not just Gingers. The only difference is, we are used to people pointing out our differences, which, in turn, forces us to be more open and honest about ourselves-it's hard to hide who you are, blending into a crowd, when you have a spotlight shining down on your head 24/7. I like to think the (bad) "crazy" stigma was started by some 10th century boring blonde girl, who just couldn't compete with the fiery locks and personality of a Ginge. The joke's on them though, that pale white skin would force the gingers inside, preventing them from becoming outside laborers (back in the day). Because of that, it basically gave them a one way ticket to royalty and nobility. Nowadays, it's even considered a "royal trait" in the British monarchy. (Btw, Will and Kate's children genetically have a 50/50 chance of being blessed with red hair.)
For the 4 black folk in the video that said something to the effect of, 'i'm black so it wouldn't look natural', please remember that were and are many black folk with naturally red hair. Some famous ones you may know of are: Malcolm X, Redd Foxx, Tony Terry, Reynaldo Rey & Sinbad to name a few.
I feel like this video was a huge backhanded compliment haha! Also, the whole "does the carpet match the drapes" is fucking creepy as hell... like why would you ask someone about their pubes?
ok, since no on seems to know that actual answer.... the term "ginger" comes from the show Gilligans Island. The "hot" chick's name was Ginger and she was a red head. mystery solved. LOL
Sorry I know this is years old,but ginger was used as a word red haired in Britain in the 19Century ,sooooooo it 100% doesn't originate from US television !!!!
It took me a long time to realize this, but the only “group” of people to ever give me shit about my red hair are white people. Black folks, Hispanic folks, Indian, Asian...have _never_ made me feel bad about the color of my hair, pale skin, and freckles. It explains why I’ve always genuinely felt more comfortable around minorities, because I know they’re going to be respectful to me, and I to them. I still have white friends of course, but I’ve had to learn how to take their ugly comments in stride, take the bitter with the sweet, pick my battles, etc.
@@juniorcrusher2245 and how would you know who my friends are? How would you know who I hang out with, text, call, work with, etc? My comment isn’t “kissing up” to anyone, it’s pointing out what my experience has been. (And just FYI, I like anyone that isn’t an asshole). A better way to say it may be that not every white person makes fun of my appearance, but everyone who makes fun of my appearance is definitely a white person.
@@patrickking9600 i know exactly the reason why. Im eastern european and the only people who make fun of me are other white people. Because especially in america if you make fun of blacks or hispanics its immediately looked down upon yet racism or bigotey against other whites, lgbt, furrys and whatnot are very accepted and therefore are allowed to make fun of. If youre american or in the anglosphere in general you will find that this is true. My original comment was pretty harsh so my bad for that
@@juniorcrusher2245 thank you, and your reasoning is exactly right. White people only make fun of other white people because they’re not part of a “protected group.”
I thought that the term "Ginger" actually started because of Ginger on Gilligan's Island. She was a Redhead and folks started calling Redheaded women "Ginger" and then it started to extend to all Redheads recently.
I am a read red and I have been made fun of previously for having no soul, being crazy, and wierd. I do not appriciate it at all. some people say they dont like gingers based on the color of thier hair. That is really mean and should be stopped. Isn't it time we shut down the stereotypes that hurt peoples feelings?
I wish it was that easy, but unfortunately there will always be that person just around the corner. I myself am not ginger as you can tell, but my wife is. She actually looks somewhat like you in the photo, although she is English (we live in the UK). She sometimes gets hurt by all the negative stereotypes there are, especially when other people say very strange hurtful things. A couple of years ago my wife had to go to the hospital for a pregnancy check up (she was pregnant with our son). We were waiting in an area were beds were separated with curtains, and we heard another pregnant woman talking to some of her friends/family in the same room wishing their baby was not ginger, and if the baby turned out ginger they would kill themselves. Its horrendous that this exists these days. What makes me laugh is that the UK has both the most redheads along with the most carriers of the genes. You would think people would stop being so stupid nowadays.
I'm a ginger and I feel like sometimes I fit the stereotype. However, I think a certain part of the stereotype has kinda been ingrained into me over the years
Same here it's ridiculous that a lot of us men find it difficult finding a girlfriend just because we have ginger hair but I suppose that's the shallow world we live in
I am a redhead. I have the curly, long, red hair. I never thought watching this would get me angry. I am a bit tired and irritated with comments about me and others like me all the time. People complain about others being racist but I don't see how making fun and having a stereotype of redheads is any different. I am especially tired of people saying we don't have souls. This makes me angry and depressed. I love my hair but people just trash it.
Hey don't feel upset, I agree with you. I think "Gingers" are cool. Down here in Florida I don't see many of them though.. I would date a girl with Red hair.
LadyLight000 Honestly I love the look of natural red hair. The different tones of color you get with red hair is beautiful, and pair that with the texture of those amazing curls you have something alive and wild that you just don't get with any other color of hair. Also when a red head has green eyes I think it is really pretty and complements really well. I have straight brown hair and brown eyes, which I love on me I am not gonna lie, but I do sometimes wish I could have red hair and green eyes. :)
The term 'ginger' when applied to people is actually a derogatory term. It was originally meant as an insult, similar to the n word. The redheads I know would kick someone who called them ginger unless they also had red hair because of how degrading it was back in the day.
Not many people actually realise how much shit we get for being ginger though? Like at first it’s just harmless jokes but then it becomes into severe bullying like I remember coming home crying because I felt like an alien compared to everyone else, yet. I’ve learned to love my hair and appreciate it
i feel you lol i remember just praying wanting to have normal brown hair. it’s ironic that the same people that used to bully us for having freckles and red hair are usually the same ones doing the fake freckles trend and ive seen a lot of people dying their hair ginger recently. just an ironic observation
My sister got told by a guy she was dating that he was fine dating her, but he would never marry her because he didn't want his children to be redheads. It really hurt her feelings.
This is pretty surprising to me considering my first and many others crush was a ginger in elementary school. I don't even remember anyone back then talking about her negatively even all the way to high school
I love my red hair I’m so proud of it! I use to not like it as a child because of the jokes but as I got older I love it. It makes me so different from everyone else and makes me stand out.
Your just jealous cos your hair colour can only be found in the dirt and mine can be found in rainbows 🌈 btw I’m from Australia and they don’t tease redheads often at all they just call us “rangas” hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂 so Australian
well i think gingers earn a freckle for every soul they steal thats y when someone says gingers have no souls its pob cuz they already stole ur soul and ur just too soulless to know u dont have a soul. and damn all these redheads saying they don't like being ginger, it's a damn mutation y wouldn't u want it.(not the weird kind). I have 3 guy friends who are gingers and they are all beautiful, i love ginger hair, i would trade yall for them ginger hair, freckles any time.
My earliest memory of being called a ginger, was in 5th grade (11 years old) when the old guy came to the school for yearbook pictures. He kept calling me Ginger and I thought it was so weird. Went home and told my mom about it. She had a laugh and explained to me that Ginger was the beautiful (redheaded) movie star on Giligan's Island. I didn't hear the reference again until after South Park. So that's my experience.
ha ha im a ranga, and i think that us gingers are the evoloutionary kings of the human race. all ginger girls are amazingly hot. they are the top of the human mating chain. they have the gene to make their own vitamin d, people think they are fiery - and that makes them the most ultimate human species. the most beautiful top of the chain predator that deserves the recognition of producing the most beautiful people on the planet. of course people will be scared. we have histories from vikings, we are killers, lovers, and free. we get teased because people get scared of how awesome we are. im proud to be a ginger - and im proud to love all the ginger women out there
I'm 58 and grew up in a time in America when red hair was more hated. Man, I suffered a lot of bullying. I think the color is more accepted now, with so many celebrities dying their hair red.
Red hair is a very rare thing to have so if people can't respect that then they need to not say anything at all. For the gingers out there, I am one of you too. We are one of the very few people that have red hair. We don't need to let people bring us down because we dont have normal hair color. We need to say to them, you know what? I am a ginger and I am proud because one day people will look up to us as idols or something like that. It is pretty sad that people nowadays have no due respect to anyone. We are not soulless. We are not mutants lady. We are funny and kind and maybe a little crazy because arent we all? So for anyone who isn't a ginger and reads this, before you think about judging a red head or ginger, how would you like it if we came up to you and made fun of you? Think before doing.
I am not soulless thank you very much but I didn’t even know that people thought of me and other gingers that way!! Also about the pale skin freckles thing and that they get mad or what ever that’s not true! I am the monster of pale skin and freckles with red hair and I’m proud of being a redhead!! Fun fact, compared to hair colors other than ginger ( more like Irish) gingers are stronger and reacts better to pain. I’m 11 and I have major muscles! I can literally lift up to 200 lbs. judging people by their hair color is like judging people by their race.
My brother was a natural ginger growing up, and we are black. We did tease tease that he was the mailman's son though. There are people of brown skin tone that are natural red heads though, like the Australian aboriginals. I think that the ten ginger may have started from the redheaded "movie star" character from Gilligan's Island who's name was Ginger.
I hate it that most people think we have no soul and that we are really firey we didn't chose to be ginger I love being ginger but most gingers get bullied a lot as a kid
I feel like i'm letting people down- everyone is like "they're so hot!" "Redheads are seductive!" And here i am, weird, short, shy and average-looking at best- like i'm letting the population down
The reason were not friendly is cuz everyone singles us out because of are what we look like imagine if it was are skin color it dosnt feel any differnt
I didn't choose the ginger life. It chose me.
I feel ya
O ya. But there is nothing wrong with us, were the best, the normals are the real problem in this world!
It chose me too
it chose me too

Yes yes yes and get asked a lot
Totally get it
my friend asked me that today!! I don't really mind but what gets me is that why would the carpet not be ginger unless there is a very small chance.
If you dye you hair red....you are not a redhead/ginger!

that a great way for people to like u more..

me too XD

Some things you should know about us REDHEADS:
1) Some of us actually do tan (everyone's body handles UV rays differently so this pale skin burns argument is kind of pointless).
2) The amount of freckles a person has is not correlated to hair color.
So it's actually more about the passed down personality traits from those cultures than the hair color.

in the end, I'm a rare human being and it makes me feel cool.
plus I get a good amount of compliments on it too.
lol I never get compliments I just get called a mutated piece of cow shit

A lot of people don't know that the Giants that used to run the Earth where all redheads but the scientist won't tell you about the Giants they cover it up there are no Giants were no Giants even though there are pictures of the Giants actual photograph pictures of the Giants. So people more fear us then don't like us and I tell them good thing for me I don't care.
Oh and when they say don't steal my soul just say is too late I'm the Sole Collector. LOL
the irish people were meaner than that the Americans surprisingly
Americans also have equality beaten into them, so that might be a factor in it.
+Megan Baker you seem unhappy about equality... *coughdonaldtrumpcough*
Megan Baker you'd think so but Americans do more of their judging by looks instead of religion like in Ireland
Sadly, the show's attempts to highlight the absurdity of prejudice created it instead.
what if i went around asking if black people had souls? does your black hair on top match your hair on the bottom?
why is it okay for one to talk about red heads this way? think before you speak people.. smh

Americans sound more accepting of gingers than Brits. Why is that?

Iam a male ginger a blue eye one
Merlin Arloesi call me...
I do laugh when people joke, maliciously or not, about my red hair and I really do love my hair but it does hurt me inside that some people think "lower" of red hair... It really shows the contempt for red hair within the general public and it's deeply hurtful to be constantly made fun of for something you have NO control over. No one in a normal civilized society would bully a black person for being black or a person for having naturally curly hair or for thin eyebrows and still get away with that but somehow it's okay to embarrass and demean red haired people with no further consequences
i mean if we're talking about Americans, black people are still bullied for having curly hair though i get what you mean.

It actually isn't. It's a pretty rare mutation with all sorts of genetic differences.
It's my life
I love how everyone is basically an asshole about the way we're born.
Why do people think we don't have souls? Oh well, I scare the shit outta people when I say I'm gonna take their soul.. 😂

Truth
@@juniorcrusher2245 and how would you know who my friends are? How would you know who I hang out with, text, call, work with, etc? My comment isn’t “kissing up” to anyone, it’s pointing out what my experience has been. (And just FYI, I like anyone that isn’t an asshole). A better way to say it may be that not every white person makes fun of my appearance, but everyone who makes fun of my appearance is definitely a white person.
Yeah I seem to have alot of black friends and the white people are usually a little bit racist about the red hair thing
Calling a red head a ginger is a slur!
Being a redhead, I was honestly scared to watch this😂
I thought that the term "Ginger" actually started because of Ginger on Gilligan's Island. She was a Redhead and folks started calling Redheaded women "Ginger" and then it started to extend to all Redheads recently.

Not from Gilligan’s. Sure, they say it in that show. But 100% not from there.
So, only 1-2% of humans are red heads. Only 20% of the world has blue eyes. Only 10% is left handed. And I have all of them. IM SO SPECIAL!!!!

The term 'ginger' when applied to people is actually a derogatory term. It was originally meant as an insult, similar to the n word. The redheads I know would kick someone who called them ginger unless they also had red hair because of how degrading it was back in the day.
Ginger is actually an anagram of the n word

LMAOOOO HOW ON EARTH COULD A HUMAN BEING WITH DIFFERENT COLORED HAIR TAKE SOMEONES SOUL? IM SO CONFUSED AS A GINGER

"ask yourself how important is skin color" well its the difference between you getting killed by cops and not.
A black person becoming a ginger : impossible?
It's been done before.

+Mottahead I had a good little laugh at this comment.
On a serious note, it is possible. I've had gingers in my family and I'm Caribbean.
Actually, Black people can be born with red hair. It's just more rare than in people of European descent.
