- Today we're testing out a new brand to my channel: Guide Beauty. I purchased the full set of Guide Beauty's products, including their brow pomade, tubing mascara(!!!) and eyeliner tool. All of these items claim not just to perform as clean luxury formulas, but also they are uniquely for ergonomic comfort. Today I'm seeing how they stack up to these claims, and offering my overall thoughts on the brand.

I really appreciate you touching on the infomercial subject and how you're most likely not the target audience for products like this! It really bothers me when able-bodied people just make fun of gadgets that are clearly meant for disabled people
I love that you mentioned people with disabilities! I get so frustrated watching people review 'weird' products that aren't made for abled bodied people. As someone with a nerve disorder, I NEED this eyeliner bundle!!
As someone who’s hyper-attuned to the steadiness of my hands (I’m a vet and have to do surgery daily), I’m always sensitive to those who have this issue as they age (will that be me in future?), I find this a truly necessary approach (even for me when I have too much coffee!). That said, the fact that you’re getting no stamping on the lower lid after tightlining your upper lash line with this product makes it valuable to me even on my no-coffee days. Finally, I’d like to mention that Wayne Goss has a video in which he applies pencil liner to his eyelash curler and curls his lashes close to the lid for 30 seconds. Voilá, a perfect tightline, which helps those of us who have small lids preserve the little bit of real estate we do have for our colored shadows. :-)
also the packaging issue kinda bugs me, but the idea that disabled people need to give up their mobility aids in the name of sustainability is ableist. so many of the things that keep us alive & able to engage with the world use more plastic or materials than others but it's not fair to tell us to do without
Absolutely. It’s a system not a fault of the consumer, nor is it a responsibility that should be borne by the consumer.
My dad and brother have muscular dystrophy and I'm always looking to support brands with inventions that help. Small things too. Button down shirts are a nightmare. So are ties. Anything where you need fine motor skills and a lot of upper arm muscles. Recently found button down shirts that adhere with magnets. Brilliant! Love what you said about this.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The straight out liner tip has completely blown my mind, having small hooded eyes, it completely changes the game for me. ❤️ Also, I can't get over the color of the packaging and how I want it on my nails asap lol! Also, happy to have another tubing mascara to try! I never even knew they existed before your channel and now I refuse to use anything else. 🖤🖤🖤
I am almost 50 and I have job-earned carpal tunnel as well as hereditary arthritis. Yay. Double trouble. I tried to grab a boxed blender from a tall, athletic teenage Target employee and it literally slipped through my fingers. I was so embarrassed, but my fingers would not cooperate and they hurt! (I also am short with t-Rex arms so none of this was helping.)
I would gladly pay that much for those “starter sets” if the makeup cartridges were replaceable. Cosmetics started out this way but I almost wonder if it was because of material shortages in WWII? I wonder if it didn’t stick around because it was a reminder of “starving times” and it became a luxury to just throw away and buy a new one? I’m as much a sucker for packaging as anyone, but I also feel it in my gut after I’ve sorted my trash and recycling and how much I still contribute to garbage dumps because of my consumerism.
I'm 24 with hereditary arthritis in my fingers and the other day a beer can slipped from my hand and I caused an explosion in the shop! Yes, I had beer all over my face and hair... I just wish they'd put some more texture on the packaging of products so that they don't slip out that easily...
I have a genetic connective tissue disorder. It affects…pretty much my whole body. My hands are already arthritic (I’m 40), I get random, very painful muscle spasms, especially in my hands/wrists, and lots of fun nerve problems. I have so much trouble writing these days. Holding anything small, and performing fine motor actions…it’s not fun. So products made to be easier to hold…I’m so thankful for! Thanks for trying this product line out for us. ☺️
Omg I loooove this! I'm disabled and I also have arthritis and I love that there's a brand that is doing things like this. Love it so so much
😍😍😍
I’m disabled with a tremor. As a makeup lover, I’ve found hacks for every type of makeup application, but eyeliner. So the eyeliner really appeals to me. The only thing that holds me back is the price, so I’ve yet to get it. I can tell it’s a unique and quality product, so I can see why it’s more expensive. I just think the price point might keep it from being accessible to some of the people it could help most.
I read an Allure article about this brand awhile ago & was so intrigued! As someone with health issues & a family history of arthritis, MS, and Parkinson's it's important to support these brands. Also those things that help you put your socks on are filling a void & super helpful lol
I'm an occupational therapist and found this video very helpful info to share with clients. I imagine the heavy and large applicators are needed for decreased fine motor skills in hands. Weighted tools are required to counteract tremor. Just a guess, as we typically will give clients with a tremor and decrease fine motor skills weighted utensils with large handles. Great video thanks! Also refillable cartridges sounds like a great idea
Aww that means so much to me!
I am so impressed and appreciative of your vernacular and voice. As a special educator, I can say that these tools are truly inclusive. We can’t forget about those individuals with different abilities. You've provided a great sharing. Thank you!
And as one with Essential Tremors, I’m very tempted!
I’m a teen with hEDS, and so my hands are floppy and don’t grip things the way that most people’s do. I’ve toyed with buying this before, but I just haven’t been able to justify the price because I make do.
when you buy a replacement creme liner you get 2 replacement tips for applicator according to the website so that will cut down on some of the plastic use
This is amazing. I don't have any mobility/flexibility issues, but I have friends and family who do. Thank you for making me aware that this exists for them and your thoughts on it!! ❤️❤️
Love this!! I definitely wanna support the brand. I'm ambidextrous, but I also have issues with eyeliner and tight lining because of my double-jointed fingers making it difficult lol. This is my favorite eyeliner look on you so totally worth a shot to me
This is such a great product review, I would have never known about this! I have essential tremor that affects my hands and as most people who have physical challenges you just learn ways around it, so I've learned how to rest my elbow on the counter in such a way to steady my hand for eye makeup...is it perfect everytime? No. Good enough? Absolutely! But I always love to learn about people who take their challenges and turn it into something positive, such as the owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Thanks for touching upon that in this review.
The eyeliner pen looks nice to use, I have friends who really struggle with liner and might enjoy this
When you mentioned the bump on the eyeliner tool is for stabilizing it reminded me of a mahl stick. 🎨
Love your reviews, so thorough. Thanks and totally agree regarding the recycling.
Tiny mascara wands are my BFFs, because I have very blurry vision and don't wear contacts, so putting anything near my eyeballs when my glasses are off is terrifying lol.
I purchased this same kit a couple of years ago. I live the brow product. You make me want to try the eyeliner again. The mascara i have not yet perfected. But it is expensive. I've looked for dupes, and there are none that I can find
I’m super into this kind of video from you! Reviews on whether something is worth it or a gimmick (especially if it’s from a targeted Instagram ad!) is one of my favorite video genres. And in the end it’s either exciting because it’s legit or a more humorous video because we/you get to make fun of the gimmick 😂
Thank you so much for this! I found this product on the internet and thought that this would be great for a dear friend who a tremor. You seem very honest with your review. I wouldn't like to recommend a bad product with an amazing marketing behind it to my friend. I'm happy that you reviewed the formula. Thank you!
I also like that the eyeliner tool can easily be cleaned. Especially if you are using it on your waterline
First time watching you. I loved everything about this video. ❤️
Hey! Just so you know, disabled isn't a dirty word, and most disabled people prefer just saying "disabled" instead of "differently abled." It's not necessarily wrong or bad, but you don't need to avoid the word disabled. :)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this brand. I have dexterity issues and have always struggled with eye liner and I really think this could help me!
I wish drugstore brands would make some of their products easier to open... It doesn't have to be a completely different packaging, but just a few notches on, for example, liquid eyeliner screw tops and cream eyeshadow pot tops. I have arthritis in my fingers and sometimes I just sit there struggling to open up stuff because the packaging is TOO smooth and I can't grip it.
I have arthritis in my fingers. I cut a strip of rubber from a worn out inner tube and wrap one around the bottle and one around the top and it gives me the grip to get things open. I also cut a larger square to use to hold jars and use the strip around the cap and I can open those now also.
Great video! I just came across this brand and was thinking about trying! I’m def going to get the eyeliner now! Maybe not mascara bc I have long straight lashes.
Thank you for reviewing this. I am in my 30s and was diagnosed a few years ago with essential tremor. I saw this brand mentioned in some of the essential tremor groups I'm in. I wish there was a product or tool for lip lining, too, as my lips tremble sometimes when I try to line them.
Honestly have you thought of whipping off this tool and trying it for that? Maybe run lip liner or lipstick on the end ? Shot in the dark but worth a shot
So interesting! Never heard of this before, but now I’m totally intrigued. I’ve had shaky hands my entire life. I’ll never forget the time my grandfather with Parkinson’s teased me about being so shaky! Lol! Anyway, sometimes the tremors get worse the more I try to concentrate on my hands not shaking - so doing things like painting my nails and eyeliner can be a struggle. I might have to look into this. Thanks Kackie!
I'm still at the beginning of the video so please take my comment with a grain of salt, but "disabled" isn't a dirty word, many disabled people would rather people didn't use euphemisms like "differently-abled" because it feels similarly patronising as "special"etc.
Came here to say the same thing. Disabled isn't a bad word.
I love the concept! ❤️ thanks for this review!
I wonder, I bet the size and weight of the products is to help with the steadying of the hand. If it’s too light, the hand may not register anything in it. With a little bit of weight to it, it might help steady the hand a bit more.
It is. Heavier tools are helpful for people with tremors, like with Parkinson's and essential tremor.
That was very interesting! Love knowing that exists!
Totaly with you on the replacement thing.
A tiny wing is everything on you omg 😍
As someone with cerebral palsy, this is a game changer. Having a lifelong disability where I have trouble with spasticity, this is actually a good thing. It's not meant for able-bodied people. It's meant for us that don't have the dexterity or the muscle control.
Kackie, I always mean to ask you where you get your wooden plugs from! They are beautiful!
PLEASE tell me where you found those ice cream cones behind you on your wall. I am OBSESSED
Thank you! The artist is Jourdan Joly! Find his work on IG he's amazing!
I'm actually interested in the eyeliner tool. I have 2 issues that now makes putting on makeup much more challenging & time consuming: the first being vision. I cannot see close up without glasses anymore & doing detail work like eyeliner & mascara means sitting VERY close to a magnifying makeup mirror which means often I am banging long handled makeup brushes against the mirror. Grrr. 2nd issue is hand/grip related. Using/holding very small tools, especially if they require a firm grip causes pain & cramping & sometimes numbness. I often must stop & shake my hand out & wait for it to stop spasming or uncramp (usually from using a lash curler & holding a mascara wand steady) & it's very frustrating. ( I like Real Techniques & Rephyr brushes because both brands offer good quality brushes with shorter, fatter handles that are easier to hold) For tightlining purposes your eyeliner formula needs to be wp or it will transfer to the lower waterline, fade & smear. I prefer wp mascara for the curl holding properties & lack of running with watery eyes. Removal is easy with any oil based makeup remover or balm. No rubbing or scrubbing required & the oil conditions the lashes. Anyway, I'm super curious about the liner tool & gel liner. I usually just tightline with a pencil or wet shadow on a flat brush, this looks much easier & less eye poke-y.
"repeating, of course"
Dying 😂😂😂
THANK YOU SO MUCH
I forget--have you reviewed MOB beauty? I think their story is one of frustration with waste in the makeup industry, and wanting to create a more eco-friendly brand. they have some cool holiday gift sets, but I haven't tried their (non-tubing, I'm pretty sure?) mascara yet but I was impressed with their eyeshadow formulas!
I never thought I'd be able to wear eyeliner again. My hands have trimbled since 6th grade. They shake too much now to wear eyeliner or sew now, at 33.
I'm allergic to Carmine!! 😂 So you are not the only one to hate it🙌
It's made from crushed up beetles so just knowing that is gross!
What a wonderful Review.
I hate tubing Mascara with a passion, so your raving about that is not working on me, but I think that eyeliner gadget thing is fabulous!
Totally totally agree about the cartridge refills needing to be a thing with this brand.
A minute in and I’ve already said “oooh” about 5 times
hahahahahaha
I just came across this video, as I was looking for a video Link to put in ‘my’ Video, (I purchased the whole collection). I can tell you from someone with painful disabilities in both hands, that it is very hard to put on eyeliner. Others who have reviewed this product & demonstrated it, really upset me when they refer to it as a Toy or Gimmick!! Terri designed these beauty tools to not only help her but others too. You did dip the Guide incorrectly in the pot…🤷🏻♀️😁
BTW, I love Thrive mascara, but the Guide mascara and Brow tool help keep my hand from making a few mistakes.❣️
I do wish people would STOP making videos of her products with “Click Bait” in mind. I not only made a video showing (unboxing) the products but I also have a video demonstrating it, in hopes that it helps others like me.
The first video is scheduled for release tomorrow & the demo & review will release later in the week. I am not done editing it yet.
Thank you for keeping this review honest and helpful!! 🙂 Individuals with disabilities needed a Tool like this.
Terri is amazing and very helpful. Now, We Too…are benefiting from its design.♥️🙏🏼🙂
Does anyone know where kackie got her glasses from? 😍
Warby Parker.
I have been eying this tool for awhile. I struggle to tightline as my eyes have gotten more mature.
Wait can I ask the brand of your gorgeous sweater/top 👀💞
Yes! Alex Mill 🥰
I have the same problem with Carmine!!!
I love the price per ounce breakdown
I thought those were hair tools (like curlers or something) in the thumb nail 😆
Great review, love your videos! You mentioned you can wear contact lenses- as a contact lens wearer I’m interested if you noticed this eyeliner on your tight line messing with the contacts? Some eyeliner formulas (even if they don’t transfer per se) create a film on my contacts (which messes with the vision while wearing them). Could you comment on that?
Oh I'm sorry, I don't wear contacts. I CAN put take in and out comfortably, touching my eye isn't a problem. But my eyes have been allergic to every contact lens I've ever tried, and I've tried them all, so I just wear glasses.
Gotcha! No problem, thanks for the reply! :) I might try this eyeliner formula since it dries so well, it sounds promising!
I ordered it 😅 I’ll report back on the results for anyone else has the same problems with contacts & eyeliner 😊
I hate to say it but when I saw these products...I immediately thought of that old cheap toy..kazuu?? (Not exactly sure if thats what it is called) I just remember driving my mother crazy with it! Lol.
Edit...after seeing how easy that eyeliner application was...Im sold no matter what it reminds me of!! Lol. That was awesome!!!
They do look like kazoos 😂
You can buy this same eyeliner tool on Amazon for 10 dollars.
Name or link?
boy brow is actually only $16! so price per gram is $5.13 not $5.76. that makes it pretty close to guide
Oh then they lowered the price! Glossier does that sometimes and I miss it.
Interestingly I did a quick look on amazon and did see a bunch of copycats for a lot less that look soooo similar.
Yeahhh parents take time. That’s a shame.
PATENTS
I think the makers of this aimed to make it inclusive and diverse for people of all abilities... I do not think you are making fun of this, like others in the thread, because I have watched your content enough to know you are not like that.
and for those only reading comments SHE DOES say that in the video! ♥️ so thank you thank you thank you!
Please make a brand review or what's worth of Patrick ta. Pleaseeeee. I literally want to buy everything from him.
disabled isn't a dirty word!
So disappointed. Purchased this and smears horribly even with a primer. An expensive experience.
🧡🍁🥰🍁🧡
Until you showed how to hold them between your fingers, all I could see was a hash pipe.
The person who created this has Parkinson’s and she created this tool to help her put her eyeliner on because she has shaky hands. You’re also not using the instrument the way it is suggested it be used. Perhaps if you watched the video that is on the website it will help.
Did you watch the video? At all?
