He is very advanced for his age, and one of the reasons he is is because you guys are NOT helicopter parents! He reasons things out and has control of his body like a six or seven-year-old. And yet he’s got the little four-year-old personality… What wonderful parents you guys are! He gets to fall and realize that he can get up, And he gets to learn by doing. What a wonderful example!

PS: When my children were young, we had a trampoline as well, w/o a net. It made them more responsible about how rough they got while jumping. They never had any problems.

How wonderful! My friend had a big trampoline and they mounded dirt up around it with appropriate drain tubing and gravel underneath. No need for any net, and the wind never blew it away like a UFO. When we bounced off it we landed on soft grass just a foot down! When the kids grew up they just scraped out the dirt and it became a garden patch. It was so clever!
