While TAMA’s enduring craftsmanship has long defined their commitment to sonic excellence, few could’ve anticipated the widespread impact of their Mastercraft snare, debuting in the 1980s and playing an integral part in defining the sounds of the era. Now, as TAMA celebrates their 50th anniversary, they’ve decided to reissue this lauded snare in a trio of percussive panaches, featuring Artwood, Rosewood, and Steel construction options. These re issues of these snares it's amazing. Love the 2 wood snares nice tone. The steel I like the one from the 80's

I have a 5" steel Mastercraft from the 80s. Best sounding steel snare I've played. Tama should start selling replacement lugs for those.

You dont mention the muffler is Dual function.. you can change the tension on the ridded knob, Then turn the Wing one touch.. i suggest turn it on set your tension with the ridded wheel, then just use the big wing turn

It has a seam, that’s why I’m hesitant to get it.
A seam on the steel snare? Nah ill stick with the old school imperialstar kingbeat. The bell brass reissue is great however
Internal tone control disappeared with the whole have nothing inside the shell to affect resonance that swept the industry a few decades ago.
Yeah. Manufacturing consistency wasn’t what it is today. Many internal mufflers over time would rattle unless they were tight against the head. Logic prevailed and the industry ditched them.
