I’ve been dead set on elementary education, but the past few weeks I’ve had a change of heart and think I want to change my major and teach middle school math! As a teacher myself, I agree with your colleagues' advice in that you should definitely do it again by teaching for a second year. It can be true what they say: first is the worst, second is the best. By your second year of teaching, you are familiar with the overall rhythm of a school year (and the scene at the school where you taught your first year) and what the job of teaching truly entails inside and out. You are also able to have a stronger handle on your student discipline, professional organization to help make your duties seem less stressful and more effortless, and even when it comes to dealing with the unpredictable parents and administrators. Since this video was made in November 2019, I resume you are now in your second year of teaching. If so, I hope it is going as well as possible, despite the pandemic. Keep up the great work! :)
i'm finishing my second year of college in the education program. my plan is to a middle school math teacher. over the quarantine i was thinkin maybe i should change my major since i've been unmotivated about it since this whole remote learning thing, but watching this video made me realize this is exactly what i want to do. :)
Your words are so kind and encouraging. It's a weird time for everyone right now and I've had a lot of trouble finding motivation as well. So many people will tell you not to do it because of pay and it is a lot of work. But it's also the only work I've done that I've felt this passionate about and that makes it worth it ❤️ You've got this! And I can't wait to see how your teaching journey unfolds!!
