I had no such symptoms before the flight. I concluded the instructor was requiring me to be unsafe by wearing a stupid mask.
Well I'm all for masks but actually this could be what happened to me yesterday I think. I was wearing a five layer cloth mask and went down to the shops. I was in a hurry so kind of speed walked maybe somewhere around 300m/5mins all up with a couple of stops inbetween (around 10-15mins total including stops). I was wearing the mask the whole time and all of a sudden started to feel a real burning sensation in my calves like they were on fire or something. Got to the car and sat down and I became extremely lightheaded, lost my hearing, vision became blurry, started sweating and felt like I was about to pass out. I have never experienced something like that before. I took the mask off and I was pretty sure I was going to pass out inside the car any minute but thankfully after about five minutes or so things returned to normal. It was pretty scary got to say and I'm fairly certain that it was due to me not getting enough oxygen and instead breathing in the carbon dioxide trapped inside the mask. The five layer mask was probably just too good. Thought I post this to warn others to take it easy and to take adequate care when wearing masks.
Cloth masks are he worst.. especailly because its going to get so moist.. becareful.. bacterial pnumonia.. will be the main concern other than " you can't breath"
Not ENOUGH OXYGEN COULD BE TOO MCUH CARBON DIOXIDE as there levels of each are separate and not dependent upon each other. Ask a nurse. Your fire department is equipped to calibrate the small wearable digital readouts of gases so buy a digital; sewer workers, police and fire departments are equipped with but you seldom see advertised. Even airplane pilots and car drivers can and do become overcome with carbon dioxide saturation. It is very much underplayed usually the ceiling CO monitor is hyped, almost useless on the ceiling,,, an individual being overcome in 15 minutes.
Walking around with both hands to your face is something I would not do. As noted in the video, your CO2 changes drastically and can have consequences. I would believe a common sense person will evolve when using a mask to take a breather, by dropping it to your nose safely. Placing it back when interacting with another person shouldn't be as hard.
I had blood work one day and my co2 was good. I didn't wear a mask. A few days later, I got blood work again but had to wait 1.5hrs wearing a mask to get blood work. Guess what, my co2 went up like 8 points and is over the threshold range

Fact Sheet: How Inhaled Carbon Dioxide Affects the Body? Normally, humans breathe in air that is approximately 20.95% oxygen, 78.09% nitrogen, 0.93% argon, and 0.04% (400 ppm) of carbon dioxide. Like CO2, oxygen also dissolves in the lungs and is transported to the blood via diffusion across the lung tissue (alveoli). Once in the blood, oxygen is carried throughout the body by the arteries, and is used in cell metabolism throughout the body. Carbon dioxide is given off as a by-product of cell metabolism and is carried by the blood through the venous system (veins) to the lungs. Here it is exhaled. The concentration of CO2 in each breath is ~3.8%, and the “average” person produces approximately two pounds of carbon dioxide each day. More CO2 is given off by strenuous activity. Hypercapnia, hypercarbia, or hypercapnea, is the physiological term for the condition of, and the body’s response to, excessive carbon dioxide. When CO2 is breathed into the lungs, it dissolves in the water there, diffuses across the alveolar-capillary membrane, and enters the bloodstream. As it combines with water, it forms carbonic acid, making the blood acidic. So CO2 in the bloodstream lowers the blood pH. When CO2 levels become excessive, a condition known as acidosis occurs. This is defined as the pH of the blood becoming less than 7.35. The body maintains the balance mainly by using bicarbonate ions in the blood. As the body responds to neutralize this condition, an electrolyte imbalance - an increase of plasma chloride, potassium, calcium and sodium, can occur. In the blood stream, CO2 concentration is also controlled by reversible reactions with two major blood components, plasma proteins and hemoglobin. In addition, the body uses other specific mechanisms to compensate for the excess carbon dioxide. Breathing rate and breathing volume increase, the blood pressure increases, the heart rate increases, and kidney bicarbonate production ( in order to buffer the effects of blood acidosis), occur. Blood vessels in the extremities constrict, restricting blood flow to these body parts. At the same time, arteries in the brain, spinal cord, and heart dilate, so that more blood flows is diverted to maintain the function of these critical organs. When there is exposure to very high levels of CO2, in excess of 5% (50,000 ppm), the body’s compensatory mechanisms can become overwhelmed, and the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) functions are depressed, then fail. Death soon follows. Hyperventilation (rapid breathing) can cause too little CO2 and result in alkalosis (pH blood becomes elevated). People at high altitudes that are not acclimated (pilots without supplemental oxygen, travelers to high altitudes), because there is less available oxygen to breathe (lower partial pressure of oxygen because the air is “thinner”), can become unconscious due to lack of oxygen without ever having a sensation of “air hunger”. Fortunately, during the past decade, great strides have been made in developing accurate, rugged, and dependable carbon dioxide sensors at a reasonable cost. These sensors can now be part of a multi-gas monitor, such as those used for confined space entry, be a single gas monitor that is hand-held or worn by the worker, or be installed in a production area to detect high levels of CO2. Industry has embraced this technology, using them as a routine part of production work, and trained workers to use them
Hyperventilation without a mask causes Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the blood to fall. Hyperventilation causes your co2 to go down which is what happened. Retaining or a build up of co2 (if the mask were to restrict gas movement) will increase the Etco2. This video is very misleading. Yes interesting - now add in some hard physical work and hot humid environment. Dangerous.
True
karens watch this every day
I work at a hospital I wear my mask underneath my nose over my mouth it give me a headache
I haven't been able to work because the mask mandate I have bad anxiety and closterphoiba I have actually almost passed out inside of stores b4 from not being able to Breathe right any advice
I'm sorry to hear that
you’re feeling dizzy cause you’re hyperventilating. your oxygen never dropped
You're right
I had a flying lesson a week ago where the instructor required me to wear a stupid face mask. After we we landed I had a severe headache that lasted for hours and felt disoriented. I had no such symptoms before the flight. I concluded the instructor was requiring me to be unsafe by wearing a stupid mask.
Exactly! It's more dangerous now to wear a facemask than not to!
@@npcimknot958 Thanks for pointing that out didn't think about that.
Pfft only 5 layers, you might as well going swimming in covid juice.
Just like putting a bag over a our head kill us
Walking around with both hands to your face is something I would not do. As noted in the video, your CO2 changes drastically and can have consequences. I would believe a common sense person will evolve when using a mask to take a breather, by dropping it to your nose safely. Placing it back when interacting with another person shouldn't be as hard.
That's correct, I agree with you
So and? What most we do! We have to put it and die with it 🤣🤣
I had blood work one day and my co2 was good. I didn't wear a mask. A few days later, I got blood work again but had to wait 1.5hrs wearing a mask to get blood work. Guess what, my co2 went up like 8 points and is over the threshold range
What number was it I had the same problem
Not to mention think about how filthy these masks get most people have bad hygiene with them so they are a net negative for sure not to mention the littering

This is one of the first videos I’ve seen where the comments weren’t turned off suspicious huh? Anyway I’ve done the test myself of the CO2 levels are extremely high.

Our body manage few months but after long time ,we fall ill, lungs don't take fully oxygen, heart rate increase, fells like I m dying
I find it odd that CO2 dedicated monitors show dramatic increases in CO2 when masks are worn but when doctors use their computer based equipment, there's no issues at all. Hmmm 🤔
Edit when it dropped to 23 made me lol
I think this is proof that no one should be wearing masks
How long does it take for your blood to absorb oxygen? I wonder if the oxymeter measures the oxygen breathed in at the moment of wearing the mask or old oxygen from when not wearing the mask?
Blood absorbs oxygen pretty fast
I wonder if UA-cam will pull your video for telling truth
Gee I wonder why he's not wearing his mask properly? Could it be because he cant breathe when it covers both mouth and nose????
Interesting info, I sometimes find I get nauseous depending on how I wear the mask...I have a touch of Bronchitis...
It could be that CO2 level inside of your mask is increased
Masks are for sick people
Aren't COPD patients given oxygen? We have a a lady with COPD and he has been on oxygen, is using more oxygen now, but wears that mask and needs others too because if she gets infected it's game over for her.

Industry has embraced this technology, using them as a routine part of production work, and trained workers to use them
Ok, if the CO2 is lower then 35 you are hyperventilating not retaining. Unless your machine is different than mine that I use?
Yes that's true. It was more of a hyperventilation then retaining

Hyperventilation without a mask causes Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the blood to fall. Please do another video without the mask but hyperventilating yourself to the same extent to see what happens to your CO2. People are using what you've done here to say they shouldn't have to wear a mask to the grocery store, where they should have no need to hyperventilate. Please, for the safety of those who will watch this video, clarify this important information. Thank you.
Here's a video explaining it. ua-cam.com/video/5tQTfspjPJ4/v-deo.html One important thing to note-- when your CO2 is low from hyperventilating, the recommended treatment is breathing into a paper bag or putting your hands over your mouth and nose (like a mask) to increase your CO2 level.
@@katiebono2043 exactly, so even more reason not to wear a mask because you've just admitted it can increase co2 levels. Now imagine how much worse it would be with the mask on compared to mask off...

Hyperventilation causes your co2 to go down which is what happened. Retaining or a build up of co2 (if the mask were to restrict gas movement) will increase the Etco2. This video is very misleading. Obviously o2 stayed the same so the gas exchange is happening like normal in the lungs. The decreased Etco2 is why he got dizzy, the same reason the teenage girl hyperventilating because her boyfriend broke up with her gets tingling fingers and dizzy, and sometimes passes out. The body needs a little co2 to maintain balance.

@@01mustang05 I understand what you looked up but Michael is 100% correct this video is misleading because he was hyperventilating, you can even see that his oxygen level never dropped. Yes it’s true that under normal circumstances if someone’s not hyperventilating, a measure of drop in end tidal (end exhale) co2 Trapping would be a measure of the lung not doing a good job expelling oxygen however during hyperventilation it’s a whole different issue he’s putting too much oxygen into his body and blowing out so quickly the lung has no chance to expel whatever CO2 is left I have no idea why this doctor made this video it’s very misleading
I believe this is what is referred to as respiratory acidosis 😛

Exhaled CO2 is supposed to drop when you hyperventilate. No, an end tidal CO2 measurement does NOT mean you are retaining CO2. If you retain CO2 you not only have a high PaO2 in your blood but you also exhale higher amounts of CO2. It is a direct correlation between these measurements. Please check all of the basic literature on EtCO2. Your premise is false.
CO2 and Po2 are different and work off different receptors in the arch of the heart.

There is huge misinterpretation here, actually what your experiment proved that during hyperventilation with a mask the concentration of the co2 of the exhaled air is less. Which is the same when you hyperventilate without a mask!
