I got the wtp crysis.. I was going to get kink switch...but on back ordered and the Williams was sold out.... Did not want to spend 700... Should have just got the battleship... Trying to get my kids into bmx...well any thing out side my son has a kid pump daughter the GT performance 18inc I got my wife the kink curb..just to ride around with use and have the same look...and the Colt devotion for my little brother.... I wanted to have the whole kink lineup..but hard to find bikes right now....thanks for all the info it helped a lot. Haven't done anything BMX related sense 2008..so I need some refreshers.... Diamondback joker was my first new bike... everything else we would build from scrap bikes.!!!! Good times 😃

Thats a tough one, i think the best thing is to check the colors, make sure that the color matches whichever bike you plan on buying. Hope that helps! You can also tell a slight difference in chromoly and steel when flicking it but thats kind of hard haha

Hey man I just found your channel and I think it's great. I was wondering your thoughts on the 2019 malum. I'm from canada and I dont have alot of selection where I'm from but I found a 2019 malum in great shape for $500 Canadian is it worth it or should I just spend the $1100 on the 2021 WTP Trust. Yooo glad you like the channel man. If that is your only option its not too bad of a deal.. however for that price you could find a custom bike that someone is selling with after market parts. a new Malum is only 40 more so i think hes kinda charging too muchl try and talk him down to $400, find a used custom for $500 or get a new 2021 malum

I'm looking at getting started on an Audio 22.. no reviews up. Any thoughts? (Skateboarder but never ridden BMX, 38, 5'11" 220lbs)
What's up mitch! I really dont do too much with 22" bikes. I think the geometry throws me off and it's hard to do a lot of tricks. Don't get me wrong there are people doing tricks on them but not many. I stick to 20" wheels and personally ride a 21" TT (im 6'4" haha) If you're just cruising and maybe jumping off curbs a 22" would be comfortable for you!

I think that the dougsterbob score is inaccurate, because it’s completely obvious that a bike like the battleship is not made for dirt, I think your just bringing down the score for no reason. It seems a little counterproductive to bring down the score just because a bike isn’t made for dirt, park etc. You’re not going to look at Cory Walsh’s bike and say “ oh your bikes not as good, because it’s not good for street” right? I think with bikes like wtps super tech street bikes you should take away the dirt section and maybe even park. The same with very dirt bikes or very park bikes. I think you are just bringing down the score of some bikes for no reason.
Do what you want with that, I still love the reviews but just find the score a bit inaccurate
I agree with your point. It's like saying a Corvette is not going to get a perfectly good score because you can't transport a lot of luggage or Furniture. Well, it's not made for that. You got to review something based on its intended application. So you are 100% correct

I like the input, but the idea of the score is to do a few things
1) highlight the sections that the bike is good in and bad in. The scores are broken down in such a way to show brand new riders who have never bought a bike or even developed a style of what discipline the bike will shine in. For a lot of new riders we are influenced to get into the sport by a certain type of rider. Ex panza influences riders to get into the street and logan martin influences riders to ride park. so again a new rider who doesn't know anything about bmx will benefit to see that a bike is much better in park than street and so on.
2) have a long list of bikes that you can organize based on their overall quality. When shopping for a bike with price top of mind you can sort the bike that way. When looking for a street bike you can sort it that way, when shopping for the highest quality you can sort it that way. they are all listed and so the rider who is shopping can easily find the perfect bike for them.
The overall dougsterbob score is a combination of all of the points in each section. It is designed in a way to give BONUS points to bikes with higher quality aspects so that the score is reflected on the amount of quality and strength the bike has, as well as their versatile utility. The top of the line bikes, regardless of their discipline will all score around the same. A top-of-the-line dirt-specific bike will have a score in the 110-130. A top of the line Street specific bike will have a score in the 110-130. A top of the line Park specific bike will have a score in the 110-130. and obviously, the bikes that are better in more than one discipline will score even higher.
It would be crazy to say that this bike deserves to rank higher just because it is a street and just because it is a park. I'll use a car analogy in replying to vics comment. But like i said, i appreciate the feedback and I'm always looking at ways to make it more accurate and I'm sure over the years ill be tweaking it. You have to keep in mind that you are probably already on a bike (so you are not shopping for your first bike) you probably understand what makes bikes better for certain disciplines (brand new riders do not) and you probably already know what style of riding you enjoy most (again most brand new riders do not.) So the score is more designed for people who were in your position when you first bought your very first bike.
The way the score would correlate to the car world would be rankings in different sections. so instead of street, dirt, park quality and style it would be speed, storage, comfort, style, safety. So a corvette would rank high in say speed and style, but low in safety and storage and comfort. a mini van would rank high in storage, safety and comfort but low in speed and style. So the overall score would reflect that in a way that the fastest most stylish car would rank as high as the most comfortable safe car. The person shopping knows whether or not they are looking for a fast car or a safe car so they can make the decision based on that. However, you have a car like the Porsche cayenne, that has speed, style and some storage and some comfort and some safety. Obviously a car like that is going to outscore the other ones since it has more features in each section and is a more well rounded car.
A rider can look at the score and see that the fit trl and the wtp revolver score the same in dirt. both are technically as good for dirt when considering dirt specific add ons. However the TRL has a DB score of 86, where the revolver has a 132 score. Why? well the revolver is overall a much better bike in terms of quality and for riding different things. If i had just scored the revolver and the TRl in "dirt" because they are designed for dirt, a brand new rider who is buying their first bike would have a hard time understanding the price difference.
Like I told issac, i do appreciate the feedback and am always looking for ways to tweak it and make it better. But maybe i wasn't clear about the way the scores work. 🙏
