Aaron did a splendid job with this, as expected! I was super glad to get him working on this.
FYI, I also commissioned a short 3D animation of this MU to be uploaded to my channel, and Aaron happily timed a portion of this OST to said animation! I’m really happy with the way everything turned out, and I hope I can sell people on this matchup with the video!

Imagine a tie between them. Light writes Walter’s name in the notebook, but Walter shows up just in time to gun him down.
I say that’s what definitely happens
And then Light feels his gun wound and dies prone on the floor while Walt collapses on the stairs from a heart attack, each one getting the other’s canon death.

- Main characters of genre-breaking shows that came out in the 2000s, which both involve an ordinary person who turned evil.
- In addition, on opposite sides of the school hierarchy (Light being a High School Student/Walter being a High School Teacher)
- Despite their high intelligences, they both lived ordinary, yet boring lives and did not do things befitting of how smart they are.
- An incident happens (The Death Note coming into Light's hands/Walter contracting Lung cancer) leading them down a dark path and changing them forever.
- Their intentions are good. At first. (Light wanting to rid the world of evil people/Walter wanting to financially provide for his family before dying)
- At first, they are utterly disgusted by how easily they killed someone before growing colder and not caring.
- Both are assisted by blonde partners in their crimes (Misa/Skyler)

- Both are very driven in what they do (Light seeing himself as a figure of justice/Walter feeling as though he's finally getting the respect he deserves)
- Both develop a persona for what they do (Kira/Heisenberg)
- Said personas are reflective of who they are (Kira meaning "Killer" in Japanese/Heisenberg's "Uncertainty Principle" reflecting how much Walt's life changes)
- Both worked with the cops to throw off their trail.
- Both have a relative whose a cop & determined to catch them (Light's father/Walt's brother-in-law Hank) unaware the criminal is right before them.
- Both end shot and bleeding out on the floor as they look back on all their successes & failures, as the cops show up, after their dead.
Walter ending:
Walter shoots Light who due to the recoil throws the Death Note by accident to his foot, then he begs Ryuk to kill Walter. Walter asks "Who are you talking to?" while reaching to the book while at the same time Ryuk writes Light's name (just like in the manga). Now that Walter can see Ryuk the shingami shows to both of them that the one who will die is Light, angered by this he gets back up to try and kill Walter before time runs out but gets shooted again, then while losing consciousness due to blood lose the heart attack happens.

Light Ending:
Light managed to write Walter's name in the piece he has hidden i
on his watch before getting shot, knowing that he will die in 40 seconds Walter tries to kill Light by throwing to him the explosive he made when treathing Tuco but a wounder Mikami appears from behind and stops him so Light can get back up and run. In the struggle Walter lets go of the explosive when the heart attack happens and both him an Mikami die, after this Light watches back where the explotion came from.

Then the camera rises above Walters body from the baby blue scene

@@Annihilate0405probably meaning the Loser finds a way to spoil the victory for the winner. Like say is Walter Loses, but before he dies, he leaks Light as Kira or if Light loses, he leaks Walter's whole drug empire
@freemanthedelphox6249 Makes sense. The winner kills the loser, only for police to show up and arrest the winner. As the winner is thinking about how they got caught, they realized that the loser somehow leaked their identity and cursed them before they got forced into a police car, and the screen turns black.

Im imagining Light, having just defeated L, thinking he's untouchable, trying to solve the Heisenburg case and being utterly stumped. He then goes out of his way to Albuquerque to find and kill "Heisenburg" due to Light being infuriated at not being able to guess their identity. No criminal will escape Light's new world!
There are multiple people, who know that Walt is Heisenberg and are associated with the case. For example Mike or Badger, who was officially arrested for working with Heisenberg. Light could easily get their names with his connections as the second L and control them with the DN into exposing Walt.

I can imagine this being a more theatrical episode then a straight up battle like a Death Note/Breaking Bad episode. Like imagine Kira using the Death Note on Saul Goodman to send a message to Heisenburg. I also like to think that this would be a tie battle with both opponents dying in ways that reference their ends from their respective series.

A deathbattle without direct combat. Instead it’s all mind games and chess moves with Light trying to get clues on what Hisenbergs real name is while Walter is trying to create a chemical reaction that’ll either blow up or poison Light.
Haven’t seen terribly much of Death Note and basically none of Breaking Bad, so I don’t know how much they know about guns.

A battle of wits, deduction, and most definitely some underhanded tactics. Light has so many fan favourite matchups, both against villains and heroes, it's quite entertaining to be honest.

Wiz: Walter White, Albuquerque's chemistery teacher turned meth kingpin dubbed "Heisenberg".
Boomstick: Light Yagami, Tokyo's mysterious Death Note wielder who the media calls "Kira".
Wiz: While they've always been completely normal people with a brilliant mind, power would soon corrupt them and make them into secret sociopaths.
Boomstick: In a battle of brains, these two will clash together in an episode which will be a lot different from our usual ones.
Wiz: For this battle, both Walter and Light will have to figure out each other's true identity as they will only know their alias. In other words, this will not be entirely a fight between fisticuffs but a battle of gameplans and mystery. Not only that, we'll be allowing something a bit different.
Boomstick: Both combatants will be allowed to have their associates assist them in their battle of wits...to a certain extent.
Wiz: After all, one of Walter and Light's biggest components on these type of scenarios are connections and getting as much information out of others as possible.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weaponry, armour and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle
Though it's going to be more of a cat-and-mouse game at first, it's definitely going to lead to a physical confrontation where Walt would win.

I honestly think this battle ends with both dead. Light is incredibly smart and has good supernatural resources, so finding out Walt is Heisenberg would be relatively easy for him. He’d write his name in the death note, and probably book a hotel there while he waits for Walt to die and to clean up the rest of ABQ. Walt however, is no slouch himself and excels in situations where he’s seemingly backed into a corner with no way out. Upon hearing Kira would be coming for him, he’d have Saul and his other criminal under world connections closely monitor who’s coming and staying for a time in ABQ, and who seems to be suspicious, poking in where they shouldn’t be or saying odd things. A random Japanese highschooler (where Kira is from) seemingly left unattended would stick out like a sore thumb, and I don’t think bugging a hotel room or using someone unassuming looking like Huell to eavesdrop/pickpocket for info is way beyond Walter’s scope, and I don’t think light would be on as high alert as he’d be for someone like L or otherwise. From there, it’s only a matter of setting things up to kill Light, like sending some guys to assassinate him covertly. The trouble is, unless Walt’s attempt to kill Light destroys the page of the death note his name was written in, or he somehow uncovers it after Light’s death, he’s still gonna die. That’s why I say it’s a tie.
Ouch if they get every one of their assets then light can just use misa to give him the win against waltuh (misa has shinigami eyes which lets her see the names and the date of everyones death. With other death note users being the only exception)

@blackblood1646 The way I see it, Light has too much of an influence and it would be a lot easier for him to kill Walter than the other way around. Light just has to suspect Walter of being Heisenburg and he wins as he can just immediately write his name down. Walter has to find out where Kira is, travel there, find out who Kira is, find him and kill him while hoping that Light doesn't figure out his name.

Especially if Light gets a hold of anyone with Heisenberg’s identity since he can just have them leak it using the Death Note

That track art goes so hard, just imagine a scene were Walt finds a copy of the Death Note (real or not) and sees the deaths written out by Kira. Each event, one by one. It can even work into a kill if Walt loses, were the last page says "Walter White, dies of a heart attack".
And if Light loses, it can be a stand off were Light and Walter finally meet. Light thinking Walter has no weapons (do to some reaserch or what not) tries to right his name but gets shot in the arm by Walter, he gives a speech on how he's the god of the new world and how this is not were Kira will dies, as his watch opens he tries to right Walters name. But stops, as while he was giving his speech, Walter wrote Lights name into the Death Note, also making the speech 40 seconds would be epic.
I know this is kind of a meme matchup, as with stuff like Light vs. Columbo, but I'd be down for it to happen just to see what they would do with it.

@@Crackedcripplenot to mention, Kira is a more emotional Gus Fring. He may be dominant, but he also has more openings for Heisenberg to exploit. And Heisenberg is at his best when his back is against the wall.

After starting to see both works, this became one of my favorite confrontations, although I think that Light doesn't work in Death Battle, but the way I see people talking about what this confrontation would be like, I wouldn't be against him in the show I see a lot of people saying that Walter would win, more honestly I think Light would win, more honestly I can also see Walter winning if it were a regular episode, I'm just afraid they'll make it a catch between an old man and a teenager, I don't want this episode be it like Martian Manhunter vs Silver Surfer, where the characters were more running away from each other than actually facing each other.
The parallels between the two are fantastic, the set up for an actual encounter? Way to specific and out of character for both, would love this match up if they could make it work, don't think they can though
I think Light would go out of his way to find a drug lord with this much influence, and I think Walt would go out of his way to save himself from being killed.
@@levitation5271 Ya see, with that set up it brings the fact that if Light is the person that initiates it, he's finding Walt's identity. Walt makes mistakes and Light is the type of person to overanalyze each and every single tiny detail, Walt is smart but he isn't up there with Light. That's my main issue with the match up, but I welcome any and all Light match ups, and this one could work, just within the framework it would need a very specific kind of set up

I feel like this Mu would work better with both Light and Walter at the latter end of their series, with the whole thing being a setup from Near that ends up going wrong as Light gets ahold of his name when Misa finds a client list or something, The very end could be Light killing every single person who has ever associated with Walter and Gus, saving Walter for last, and just has he writes his name, Walt fatally wounds him by barging into the room and shooting him, a tie.
Would also be very powerful if only Jesse and Misa survived this whole ordeal

Might be an actually neat bout if Light isn't allow Eyes of Shinigami hax. Will Light find out Heisenberg's real name first? Or will Walt catch on and have Light eliminated before that happens? Light will definitely have to get close to figure out who Heisenberg is.

Just got done listing to the track and I love it! I love how went from the breaking bad them at the beginning then after a while the theme sounded like it was getting serious and I then the chanting appeared and I love the chanting in the track. Amazing track Therewolf

Love how the names in the Death Note are (almost) all the deaths caused by Walter, either directly or indirectly (besides the last one ofc)

I like this battle idea because a good chunk of the two facing each other is not only their own weaknesses and strengths, but their team’s weaknesses too.
But I’m pretty sure if Light figured out anyone who knows Walter’s identity, then Light can just write down “They leak the information of Heisenberg’s Identity.” In the Death Note.
A fun possible ending for this match up is where a big shootout happens or some type of big accident like a fire or something, lots of team members on both side die, in fact most of Light’s team is getting offed, be it other users of the note book or even the Task Force.
Walter has the gun ready to kill Light but something kills him, Maybe his cancer catches up, maybe a part of the building falls on top of him, or an explosion (because meth labs), or simply a Heart Attack.
And we get a reveal where all of this was planned by Light, no more loose ends with other users of the notebook, No task force hunting him down, and an entire criminal organization is taking out it one case.
Everything went all according to Keikaku.
This and Light Vs Columbo has to be a Final season battle, this is not a Battle of Fist....is about mind, Manipulation, Strategy, Literally a Big Chess game....and is gonna be a Long fucking Episode

I mean, let's not kid ourselves, it absolutely was bound to happen as a track at some point. Also damn that track title and art are amazing, love them both (also, don't think I don't see that Columbo thrown in there).
I've always and will always say it: Light really just doesn't work in a Death Battle setting. But that doesn't mean this matchup is bad because it's pretty cool in a vacuum and of course the main thing that I found appealing in it was the music potential, so needless to say I was really looking forward to what a track for this matchup would sound like and most importantly I was extremely curious as to what route would be taken for it given how unique the matchup is by definition.
And I'd say that Therewolf absolutely nailed it. Now I've never watched Death Note or Breaking Bad (yes, I know, sinful) but I know enough of the characters to know what would fit them and this track does this justice by a big margin for sure. Not only does it manage to mix the jazz/country and grandiose orchestral sides of BB/DN respectively but it also manages to give the song amazing progression that really makes it feel like not just a direct battle between the two because it's obvious those two wouldn't outright fight one another but an actual contest of wits and research until a final confrontation where then and only then would they even have a chance of seeing one another physically.
To elaborate on that I must mention the dynamic I mentioned before with the inclusion of the orchestral and jazz sides of the song. The track does a really good job at meshing both genres really well in a way where they feel like they call and answer to one another (IE: from the very beginning you get the jazz strums that interact with the percussions) which showcases how those two would perpetually be trying to one-up another by finding clues and hints as to who their opponent actually is, the song slowly picking up as they get closer and closer to finding out the truth.
And this dynamic is something that builds up the entire song's sequence of events in a fluid and natural way. I especially like the fact that the song isn't just a singular build up to its end but actually has a more powerful segment in its first half starting at 1:12 because it can be interpreted in a few different ways. To me it's a great way to represent a sort of "first resolution" where the two think they've found one another and we get a grand build up only for it to be revealed that both have actually outwitted the other which means that they're essentially back to square one which is why the drop at 1:35 has very little resolution. It perfectly fits the matchup and showcases both characters' intelligence and strategy: of course they wouldn't be found out on the first lead that the enemy gets.
Which is why I like the second part of the track even more than the first because it completely acknowledges that by having the same structure as the first one but more intensified with, notably, the strings and percussions having more elongated and melodic strums and notes which shows that, while those two are essentially starting back from zero after the first lead they followed, this time they know what they're looking for so they're less cautious and more ready than ever to get to the bottom of this wild rabbit chase they're engaged in.
And of course this culminates starting at 2:25 where we get the second and last intense segment of the song that starts as it's made clear that both sides have found a clear path to discover the other and they're letting go of nothing to find out who the other really is. I really like how this segment feels distinctly intense but it also doesn't feel like a direct confrontation yet. You can clearly tell that they're getting closer to one another as the notes keep rising but they haven't outright engaged the other party yet. It's another great way to represent the matchup's main dynamic while still making the song not feel monotonous or redundant. Perfectly captures the tension it'd have without any punches being thrown or bullets being fired.
Obviously, this then leads into the final confrontation starting at 2:48. And here it's honestly 100% up to interpretation how the ending of the battle would play out. If you think Light wins then you could argue it's meant to represent the breakdown of him writing the names of Walter's acolytes one after the other in his Death Note as the latter is forced to watch as they all die in various ways before his own final breath comes. If you think that Walter wins then you can argue it's meant to represent Walter actually finding out Light's residence and just beating him to death while the latter can't put up a fight. Regardless of what you think this climax is supposed to be, it's got an absolutely insane amount of weight and power to it to showcase the sheer scale it'd have.
In a way it's completely overkill for the real scale of this matchup as it's, at its core, just a teenager with a god complex and an old man with cancer fighting one another. But it fits perfectly the actual thematic of the matchup on the characters' respective series: Light is a teenager with too much power that believes himself to be a god while Walter White is a man that pretty much sacrificed everything, including his morals and humanity, while ending up being a major player in a large crime ring "just" to save himself from the death that was given out to him in the form of cancer. This song and its conclusion perfectly capture the absurdity and paradoxical nature of the matchup and the characters involved in it and I love it for that, I don't think it could have been written out better than that.
Overall this track is one that was given out a particularly arduous task of being a song fit for something that wasn't an actual direct battle but that still felt like an engagement between two sides. And gosh damn does it succeed at it. Not only does it perfectly capture the spirit of both characters, it wonderfully manages to represent the main dynamic of the matchup in a way that sounds engaging and genuinely enjoyable for the entire song's duration. This track absolutely does justice to this matchup that'll almost certainly never happen as a Death Battle (ignoring the fact that, y'know, Death Battle may very well stop existing in the next seven days as I write this comment) for obvious reasons and I think that any individual that likes the matchup will end up loving this track. Absolutely amazing job with this as always.

I was very "Ope, him" until I thought VERY closely about this. Walter White's only defense is his Heisenberg. And..... let's face it, other than the rocking ghost on his back's looks, his only offense is the very thing Walter has a defense in. Light might actually find himself not as good a mystery solver as he thought through the series. :P
The problem is that Light has such a massive influence and imo, it would be harder for Walter to figure out who Kira is and where he is than for Kira to figure out Heisenburg's identify then write his name down.

Let's see, Light Yagami needs to know someone's name and face in order to kill them with the Death Note. In a straight-up fight, like Death Battles tend to be, Light could obviously see Walter's face, but since neither combatant would have prior knowledge of the other, he wouldn't know Walter's name, and Walter would probably go by Heisenberg. So it'd just be a question of whether or not Light can stay alive long enough to figure out Walter's name and then write it down.
