In my opinion, music has a language when lyrics are combined. Tamil and music are inseparable. Actually music is a subset of Tamil language. Many musical notes were born in the Tamil language itself. One cannot use the same notes on languages other than Tamil, maybe South Indian languages because of inheritance.

with due respect to all the legendary musicians, who composed music for Rajinikanth's previous movies, i have not seen anyone doing full justice to different shades of a character like Santosh Narayan did for Kabali (i know I am writing this without watching the movie :) )
while trying his best to bring out the perfecting sounding for each of his songs, through recording and mixing in studios all over the world,he leaves the vocals untouched.I just love the raw earthiness in Ananthu's voice, a well deserved recognition after a long wait i would say. The sangathis at the end of each lines starting from 'Maya nadhi" is the mark of a great singer. Kudos also to Pradeep kumar for arranging strings so beautifully.
its too early to say this and i don't think no one can even come close to what Ilayaraja has composed for Rajinikanth. Raakama Kayyathattu and the entire thalapthi album will always be unbeatable. You can ask any die hard Rajinikanth fan. Thalapthi score is something that can happen only once in a lifetime
