Because it's a skill game, there's strategy, luck is only an aspect of it. Professionals are just better or simply more experienced players, it really is that simple. A professional players pocket 9's would have the same value or equity as that of an amateurs pocket 9's, of course. But, it's what they do with their pocket 9's in various spots that seperate the two.
