Unless you’re hella pink I doubt it gives you concealer lips. It may not be a flattering shade on you, but this is not a good example of what concealer lips looks like. Concealer lips are not just extremely light, but flesh toned. Like you’re trying your erase your lips with concealer. That’s not what PT looks like on Monica and I can’t picture the type of person who has a skintone where that could happen here.
Colour theory is so interesting, when I was very very tanned, lighter colours like pillow talk and Bi*ch perfect looked soo good on me, with or without liner.
Generally I would agree, but the change in my skin tone obscures how some of my undertones are expressed. I'm mostly neutral througout the year except for a couple of months where I am much darker, and my skin veers warm. This checks out with the vein test (sometimes blue-green and purple, others just green) and the colors I use throughout the year. To give you a better idea within one shade range (Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless), one year I had 220 Natural Beige as my February shade, 245 Classic Beige as my May shade, and was 338 Spicy Brown by September. (I don't even go out a whole lot, that's just the tan I'll get from driving around in my car or maybe one day outside and it lasts for months 😭 and sometimes my forehead will be a perfect match for that warm dark shade but my neck will still be in winter 😅) The trick with neutral skin like mine, is that even if I have a better chance at being able to rock any color I pick, i have to be super careful about what I pair it with. I also have to think about differences in saturation when choosing colors.
Pillow talk, Kim kw and Penelope pink are my favorites when I’m lighter!! When I’m tan, bitch perfect is my all time favorite lipstick. Nude Kate is nice but I’ve always felt like something about it is off.

I do think the pillow talk berry pink one is a pretty color if your going for a cute kind of pinky color but not necessarily a perfect nude like you said. But the last one you tried was very pretty with your skin tone !
MAC is the OG in "perfect lip shades." I'm an NC 42 here - Persistence and Retro are my perfect nude shades, or like old youtubers used to call it - MLBB ;)
I think videos like this is valid for poc since its spreading awareness for brands to be more diverse but at the same time spread hate against brands. Lets be real for a sec cause no brand is one size fits all and they might try but will fail so instead of hating a brand that doesnt force you to buy their product let acknowledge that there are more options now in the market.its all depends on your need and preference.
Although I have very light skin. I have dark brown hair and darker eyes. I can’t wear lighter lip Color’s because they either look wrong or weird on me. The don’t blend in while a dramatic dark red lip looks seem less and amazing. I tried Pillow Talk once and although I have light skin it looked horrible and a bit like concealer not even a darker lipliner made a difference. I don’t know why but light Colors on create an effect of wrongness and it simply doesn’t suit me. Also I have like three shades to choose from while the same pink tone is sold fifty times with tiny variations???
That’s so interesting!! I have super “bronze” skin. Especially during summer. My skintone is like a true golden bronze. Summer time, I get way lighter but still very golden. It’s the opposite with me. Nudes look best. I have to be very specific with my lip color options when choosing a bolder lip. Because most non nudes clash with the warmth of my skin.
I have very light skin with dark brown hair too and I feel the same. A lot of these "nude" shade I find too light on me, almost like pink toned or sometimes peach toned concealer. I find that I have better luck when I only go for shades that are darker than my natural lip color and just stay away from light shades.
in my personal opinion the “intense”, without liner , one looks like a better nude than the rare beauty one, rare beauty gave concealer lips the most to me out of all 3

I honestly think matte formulas are the only nudes that I can apply solo, without a stain, liner, or topper balm/oil to adjust the color. I have a couple very fancy nudes with shine that should look great, but the shine messes with the color perception somehow. I also still have two Jordana matte lipsticks that look quite different in the tube, but look very similar on the face - I can swipe em on in 5 secs & it looks fantastic. sadly Jordana products did not wear long on me, but I like to use those mattes when I know I will be photo'd or video'd- the right nude matte on mature skin is so transforming - really helps de-emphasize lines & texture.
I think she needs to use a different word in this case bc that is not concealer lips - it is maybe a nude shade (for her skin tone). Concealer lips would have too much chalkiness and it is way too pink.

I disagree. I have tried this lipstick,I’m the same tone like her, this lipstick gives a tan/ tan-deep person an unattractive muted pink tone on the lips. Yes, you can work with it by wearing a darker liner or gloss, but for the price of lipstick, it’s not worth the extra work. Especially, since there are so many other high end lipsticks that caters to POC.
if you want a really cheap alternative and happen to be in germany, get the alverde color and care lipstick in shade simply brown, i got it on a vacation there and its been my brown girl fave ever since, especially since it was like $2.50
I love pillow talk and wore it on my wedding day and it lasted all day I’m olive skinned my mom who’s got paler skin tried it and it was a completely different shade on her. It was more dark and berry coloured on her against her skin but on me it was a perfect my lips but better dusky pink nude shade.
No one shade will ever look perfect on every different skin tone, any color COULD work if you make it work for you, like with a liner or gloss. It’s not a big deal. That’s why this shade comes in different variants, FOR different skin tones🙄 people just find the silliest things to complain about, if something doesn’t work for you then just use something that DOES. Oh hardly concealer lips. The Orig looks gorgeous on you! I WISH that’s how original Pillow Talk looks on me. On my skin tone for some reason looks ashen brown against my cool olive skin. I have to layer Pillow Talk with a coral lip gloss to make me look less like a zombie. I envy all the women who can make Pillow Talk work because I love the formulation. I had to give mine to my very fair-skinned sister. I think on you it was a lovely No-Makeup-Makeup pink.
I disagree. I have tried this lipstick,I’m the same tone like her, this lipstick gives a tan/ tan-deep person an unattractive muted pink tone on the lips. Yes, you can work with it by wearing a darker liner or gloss, but for the price of lipstick, it’s not worth the extra work. Especially, since there are so many other high end lipsticks that caters to POC.
if you want a really cheap alternative and happen to be in germany, get the alverde color and care lipstick in shade simply brown, i got it on a vacation there and its been my brown girl fave ever since, especially since it was like $2.50
tbh many ct products are overhyped
Honestly the only things that I’ve tried from CT and really liked is the liquid contour magic wand and the Pillow Talk mascara in Dream Pop.

I love pillow talk and wore it on my wedding day and it lasted all day I’m olive skinned my mom who’s got paler skin tried it and it was a completely different shade on her. It was more dark and berry coloured on her against her skin but on me it was a perfect my lips but better dusky pink nude shade.

No one shade will ever look perfect on every different skin tone, any color COULD work if you make it work for you, like with a liner or gloss. It’s not a big deal. That’s why this shade comes in different variants, FOR different skin tones🙄 people just find the silliest things to complain about, if something doesn’t work for you then just use something that DOES. I don’t understand
