  • Trencrom hill commands spectacular views of Hayle, the Hayle estuary, and St. Erth to the east, St. Michael’s Mount and Roger’s tower to the south and Trink Hill to the west. On a clear day you can spot Godrevy Lighthouse. It is no wonder this spot was chosen as a hill fort by iron age inhabitants. This walk explores the hill as well as some of the surrounding area to get a better sense of the land and its history. Walking around this landscape gives a sense of history reaching right back to neolithic times 3,000 BC. Much of what is seen today was built on top of early medieval structures. And of course if you know where to look there are remains of old tin mining activity.
We were sent a walk suggestion from a viewer in America called Jim. We received written instructions, a map and points of interest along the route. The amazing thing is that Jim had not tried this walk himself. Although he and his wife had spent time in the area on holiday, this was a few years ago in 2014. He created this walk while sat at his computer!
We decided to give it a go to see if it is possible to create a workable walk without being in the Country!
If you wish to test out this walk too, you can view the instructions on our Patreon page, Patreon.com/cornishwalkingtrails. Since walking this route, we have added our amendments, however, we have to point out that we did not walk points 13-18! And don't forget to let us know how you get on!
    The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on UA-cam, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!
We love your comments and read all of them. We also answer as many as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot answer comments received more than a week after publication.
    Frequently asked questions:
    What are your dogs called?
Sorry but we do not release the names of our dogs but perhaps you could make up a name for them!
    What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII
How do I find the books you use?

We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.
