I can see why many Pokémon looked like they were literally hitting a ball when using this move-- because back then, Ghost-Type moves were *physical.* I dunno, I thought that was clever. Either way, I love these animations. ^^ Thank you for posting these!
4:18 Favorite Pokémon who debuted this move in "Pokémon: The First Movie" before Pokémon Gold and Silver was released. No matter what Pokémon game is released, if it has Mewtwo, I always teach it that move.

You can just feel the power of the attack when they punch the crap out of it. The Nido family 0:19 and Gengar 2:23 are my favorites for that reason alone
I would expect them to use their shooting animation, but instead the punch the ball away. I like that that. It looks really powerfull for some Pokémon, for example Nidoking.
It's such a tragedy that Shadow Ball, and all the other Ghost Type moved were treated as a Physical Move before Gen IV introduced the Physical/Special Split.
By far the best Shadow Ball animation, none of the other animations come remotely close (In fact, most of the other SB animations are pretty lame IMO.)

It's also Mewtwo's neutral special in every Smash Bros. game its in, and the move Kirby copies from it after he inhales it.
