@ I was 18 years old. I’m 46 now. This is what I remember from the show…. I remember Wu Tang played first. Everyone was throwing their hands in the air. Everyone was passing blunts and joints around. The smell was strong. We were outside standing along a fence in the back that was on a little hill. So it was a perfect view of the crowd. THEN……. Rage took the stage and the crowd went CRAZY!!!! The crowd went from mellow with Wu Tang to ABSOLUTELY NUTS when Rage started. We could see mosh pits forming throughout the entire crowd. I was there with a buddy and 2 girls. We had never seen or been a part of anything like that. So we said FU*K IT, let’s go. We go down the hill and into the crowd. We fought our way thru the crowd to a mosh pit. We took our shirts off and jumped into the mosh pit. It was insane. Everyone running full speed shoving each other as hard as they could. Running full speed and punching and elbowing each other. I remember a huge ripped bald headed guy with a giant chain as a necklace. He had his shirt off. He was diesel. There was a shorter guy that looked just like him. Bald and diesel guy circling around him and anyone who got near him the shorter guy would lay em out. I was just some scrawny like 18 year old. These guys looked 30. I tried to stay away from them. I got knocked down to the ground and it took me 4-5 tries to get back up. Every time I was close to getting back on my feet I would get leveled and hit the ground again. I remember seeing all the news stories in my head about people dying in mosh pits. I saw my life flashing before my eyes. I could see the people I loved back in NY flash into eyes. I obviously made it back to my feet. I met up with my buddy outside the mosh pit where the 2 girls were standing and watching. We both said FU*K IT again. We ended up going in and out maybe 5-6 times. And to this day, I have never done anything like that since. That was a hell of an experience as an 18 year old who took off from home in NY and somehow made it there
He did it a handful of times but it is pretty rare that he did that. Sacramento 1997 is another instance that comes to mind where he played it on the double neck as well.
If anyone has video of this show, I’ll pay for all the necessary means for @ratmlive can get it to upload
hell ya thank you
I was here at this show in Atlanta ‘97
Wow! What do you remember from the show? The setlist isn't fully known and I'd love to be able to document the full setlist properly
