    Nice review. I have a 2021 and one thing that stands out over the Grom I had is how solid feeling the Monkey is. It feels like a hunk of metal. You can feel where the money went. When I see it in my garage it makes me smile.

    Awesome little bike. My black 2022 came in oct 27th. Picked it up nov 2nd. Only got 18 miles on it so far, but i love this bike. The seat for me is one of the best features, along with the cool retro styling. It's super comfortable, surprisingly roomy, and pulls my 210 lbs easy. I originally had money on a blue 2021, but when i saw the black 22, i had to have it , so i changed my order. Another huge deciding factor was the fact that i would no longer have to remove the engine side cover to clean that stupid spinner, and possibly have to buy the 2 associated gaskets every time i changed the oil. Now it's so much easier with a traditional filter. Last but not least, is the new 5 speed. IMO it is hands down much better than the 4 speed. There is much less drop in rpm from gear to gear, keeping the little engine closer to the rpm range where it makes max power and torque.

    • @181le6
      @181le6 2 роки тому +2

      @@juanparamo3481 Price was $4199. After the tax and destination charges, the total was $4920. I had put $100 down, bringing the total down to $4820. Financed for 5yrs at 4.7%, my payments are $90/mo. Absolute total i will have spent on this bike financing it, after 5 yrs of interest, including the $100 i put down on it, is $5525. If i walked into the dealer the day it came in, with cash, and bought it outright, with the $100 i had down on it, I'd be looking at $4820 out the door. I'm not going to take the 5 yrs to pay it off though. I just wanted to be locked in to the super cheap $90/mo payment. Soon as my tax return comes, I'm paying it off. They will make very little interest money from me. 😀

    I have a 2020 Monkey, and it’s indeed fun to ride. Although it’ll go faster, it’s mainly good on the street at about 45 MPH and below. Above that gets kinda iffy, particularly where hills are involved. However, where it really shines (in my opinion) is off-road, especially if you have nobby tires on it. I love taking it up to the national forest roads/trails here in Colorado. I’ve even considered rigging up a motorcycle trailer to haul it behind my Harley when going motorcycle camping. Wouldn’t that be a sight! 🤣

    I've got two 2021 Monkey's,, one is being modified the other will remain stock. Only thing I wish Honda had done differently is a larger tank to take up that gap between seat and tank (probably be good for another 1/2 gallon of fuel too) and a 14 tooth front sprocket. Great review of a super fun minibike!!!

    Great review, I picked mine up (in banana yellow) the other week, having waited six and a half months for it. Now I’ve got it I can agree with every thing you say about the Monkey, it is the most fun you can have on two wheels. I guess your legislation dictates that you have to have orange indicator lenses, but here in the UK the Monkey has clear indicator lenses with orange flashing LED’s. Clear lenses compliment the look of the bike better than the orange ones. Carry on enjoying yours as I will mine, it even gives me a big smile looking at it parked in the garage.

    On the subject of cover removal, first pull the pins out of the frame grommets, except the one near the key, then twist the key and pull the last pin. To re fit, you can locate all pins and push them in to hold the panel, then twist the key to fully locate the last pin. There is a knack that you soon learn
    Also note that on the rear lower frame near the swinging arm pivot there is a square cut out and below it there is an oval cut out with an 1/8” hole that goes right into the cavity with the pivot bolt for the swinging arm. Cover it before water gets in and corrodes the swinging arm bolt!!!!

      Hi, I own a blue 2022 model. It was delivered end of September and I was able to drive it for about 370 km. I can ad some experience I made by using this little bike, and it was fun, I tell you!
      The side cover is mountable very easy by using one trick. The key pushed in an turned right will always turn back and that's not suitable for the job. It's possible to turn the key to the right until the end, and at this point pulling it back out only one tooth it will remain in the given position. So you mount the cover like you told above, and before mounting you lock the key like I said, so it will be pushed into it's rubber bushings without any problem. If it's in the desired position, you only have to push the key in an little and the key will turn left and the cover is fixed.
      Thanks for the tip concerning the swing arm axle.. I did a full spray action with silikonspray to every gab or screw-head or joint to prevent the bike from rusting! Greetz from Germany, have fun with this little great bike!

      It is late as I am reading this, but tomorrow I will check out your discovery of pulling the key out slightly✅✅
      Please remove the mudguards and carefully apply ACF50 over all the under surfaces, especially the folded edges and the parts of the rear one that gets hidden by the plastic shrouds. Also take every electrical connector apart and the handlebar switches and put ACF50 all over the pins and sockets. Try to keep it in an enclosed room with a de humidifier running!! I already do this to stop my lathe and mill from rusting!

    I picked mine up three days ago and the only complain I have is that the engagement point of the clutch could be a bit further in. IMO it's too far out. Other than that this bike is amazing! Full speed on twisty roads feels faster than it actually is and under load even the stock exhaust sounds nice and beefy. Unfortunately in Switzerland you legally can't just fit another exhaust because if you don't put a homologenized exhaust on it the fines are extremely high and it's not worth riding with a constant bad feeling in the back of your head.

There are thousends of video's how to tune up the engine but it is serious money.and you rape the engine. The upgrade should have at least 17 HP stock then IT would Bea huge bestseller. Tax and license were cheaper than that for me. The TW Yamaha is a fantastic bike for the price. If you do any trail or off-road riding at all it is of course a superior bike, however for my application the Honda fit better. The Honda is lighter and shorter than the TW, which is better for my short wife and because its lighter and lower it inspires more new rider confidence. I liked that the Honda had ABS, again a great helper for new riders. She also much preferred the retro styling to the "dirt bike" styling of the TW. Also the main purpose of the Honda is cruising around town, Ive had TW's before and don't like riding them on pavement at all where as the Honda is fantastic. Again, the TW is a great bike.....just not for my specific application.
