One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.

It's about a lonely (screen)writer in London (Scott) who lost both of his parents (Foy, Bell) in a car crash when he was 12. He reconnects with them -- in his imagination, or as ghosts? --at the same age they were when they died. At the same time, he finds himself drawn out of his solitary life into the beginnings of a relationship with a neighbor (Mescal). It's a film about LOVE, familial and romantic, about loss and grief, and about our capacity as humans to open our hearts to others. Wonderful performances from all four actors, beautiful screenplay and direction by Andrew Haigh. A very special film.
