Home to Roost - John Thaw is Henry Willows, a middle-aged man in middle-management who has been divorced from his wife for seven years and is perfectly happy with the arrangement. Apart from his prudish and persnickety daily cleaner Enid (Elizabeth Bennett), he's alone--and he revels in his hard-won solitude. However, Henry's serenity is shattered when, out of the blue, his eldest child Matthew (Reece Dinsdale) turns up on his doorstep. It seems that Matthew is disenchanted with life at home because of his mum's new boyfriend and wants to stay with his dad--for good.
Henry reluctantly agrees to give Matthew driving lessons even though the boy is a terrible pupil,who hits another car. Amazingly he passes first time but Henry is not keen to lend him his car,accusing him of carelessness. However,an unexpected visitor arrives to show that Henry is not the perfect driver he makes himself out to be to his son.

A unfortunate blip for the late, great John Thaw between playing Jack Regan and Inspector Morse. Thankfully he will
be remembered for playing two of the greatest characters the small screen has ever seen and not this rubbish.
