Best band all time. Matt gave my wife and I the guitar from the 'Damnesia' cover as a wedding gift. My brother was his neighbor out in Cali. Super cool guy. Great band. Cant say enough good things about these guys.
It amazes me that a band that has been around for so long has not once sold out or completely lost their sound and spirit. No band in the world writes or sounds like alkaline trio thats why they will never lose their fan base. Seriously one of my favorite bands ever.
Exactly, even 7 years later and 1 more album in the bank, there still Akaline Trio and if there sound changes it’s not drastic or Jarring, it’s always very Smooth and Natural. Even on albums like Agony and Irony and This Addiction that I see getting slammed by the Community still have some of my absolute favorite Alkaline Songs
@@DetroitLionsDynasty I don't necessarily agree with that. Blink 182 might be a more universally well known band but they still stay true to their spirit. I'm always going to be an Alkaline trio fan more so than a blink fan ( but I do enjoy their early work especially the non singles)
Saw Dan and Derek on said tour, it was good fun, from what it seemed they're ready to write music, I think Matt needs a break from albums and touring for a bit, but I'm sure he'll be ready to go. It was weird seeing Dan and Derek as I saw Matt when I saw blink (did all the VIP) it was a lot of following the red tape and security, blah, blah, But with Derek and Dan we just hung out at some small bar. Excited to see Matt in that capacity as well.
How can you be so sure? I mean, I am a masssive AT fan, but I didnt see any announcement about any new AT album in the near future. Im just curious if you have any info about this, or are these just your (our) wishes?
the mics sound so great. especially matt's. the vocals in the "she lied to the FBI" video from guitar center sessions sound perfect from all 3 band members
Anthony Ricci actually you're wrong lol. he will likely be a permanent member in the coming weeks. They're already adding more shows with Matt. He still wouldn't quit Alkaline obviously.
jiggins007 on a magazine article I think alternative press it said Matt is joining but Alk3 fans shouldn't worry because he's still working with alkaline trio and will still tour with them!
If you notice when the camera pans, there's two guitar cabs that are both mic'd. They're probably mic'd L & R channels. I know what you mean though, the guitar itself sounds full and amazing, couldn't agree more.
As a PS, whenever that's going on the two signals are usually panned slightly left and slightly right (not hard either direction, though). So you're right, too.
I have no idea either, I was just guessing because I know some dudes will split their signal L&R channels. I think you're talking about how some dudes will use different amps for different tones, it's a possibility. I'd love see a rig rundown of Matt's rig. I really dig the Jaguar that he's been using.
Oh oh, yeah that makes since. I find people doing that if that have a bunch of amps that they like for certain things such as how you explained. He could be doing that. Either way it sounds rad with whatever he's doing.
I wanna be a little piece of history Let's go, I wanna be a painting for all to see Let's go, take a trip, take a big hand full of these And swallow, just a headache a fuzzy memory Tomorrow I wanna be a Warhol Hanging on your wall You down there looking up at me I wanna be a Warhol Displayed on your wall Hung up there staring back at you Staring back at you Give me a taste of your misery Let's go, won't you please come play chemistry And sorrow, I can't believe anything that you're telling me Let's go, the walls are closing in and melting Nice and slow I wanna be a Warhol Hanging on your wall You down there looking up at me I wanna be a Warhol Displayed on your wall Hung up there staring back at you Staring back at you I wanna be a Warhol Hanging on your wall Staring down at you I wanna be a Warhol Displayed on your wall Still hung up on you Still hung up on you Still hung up on you
Close. Basically, I'm talking about running from the guitar straight into an A/B/Y switch and out to one amp for dirty (which has all of your effects in loop) and one for clean (which stays totally dry). The dry signal from the clean amp stays on all the time, but it gets mixed in at a lower volume. That way you can run a pretty gnarly, saturated sound from your dirty amp and still not lose the musical information. Again, I have no idea if that's what's going on here.
I have no idea how Matt Skiba runs his rig, but I know that some guys (especially the ones who use a distorted sound most of the time) will split their live signal right after the guitar to a clean, dry amp that sits lower, audibly, in the mix. It helps maintain the fidelity of notes and prevents tone from getting too muddy.
What is it with bands recording songs on the album in one tuning (usually standard), then they play it live in a different tuning (usually half a step down, Metallica looking at you guys) -_- it's a great performance, but idk it's just my little nitpick with bands live. (I know its a different tuning cause I can play this song how it is on the album and when I tried playing along to this it sounded wrong)
I agree that it can be annoying, but I think the main reason for bands tuning 1/2 a step down is due to the fact that their voices are naturally getting deeper as they grow older and straining to hit E standard on every song (especially in Alkaline trio's case for songs like Warbrain, Calling All Skeletons etc.) might cause throat issues etc - which Matt already experienced around 03/04 or come across as forced. Anyway; I think Eb tuning suits certain songs for Alkaline Trio (Cringe on this same performance is amazing) but it might make more sense for them to actually record in Eb in the future so that they sound closer to the record live.
I do this when I play live too. In my case, I do it so that my songs sound a little different - it can get boring when the live version sounds exactly like the album version
Best band all time. Matt gave my wife and I the guitar from the 'Damnesia' cover as a wedding gift. My brother was his neighbor out in Cali. Super cool guy. Great band. Cant say enough good things about these guys.
Wow, that is the coolest wedding gift you could ever get! What a sweet thought.
I agree - coolest wedding gift ever! Awesome!
So cool! 🖤🖤
Damn.. lucky
I doubt that’s true at all. But nice try.
no one can convince me this song isn't absolutely perfect
I wouldn't even bother
I disagree It’s more than that I dunno how but it is
Songs about wanting to be admired it seems. Pretty catchy
Absofuckinglutely!!!
It amazes me that a band that has been around for so long has not once sold out or completely lost their sound and spirit. No band in the world writes or sounds like alkaline trio thats why they will never lose their fan base. Seriously one of my favorite bands ever.
100% agreed
Agree 100%

lol well Skiba def sold out

I really don’t understand how this isn’t one of the biggest bands in the world. Matt and Dan are both brilliant 🤘🏻
Is anybody gonna notice how Dereck KILLS IT at the drums!
He’s killer; from a professional chicago punk drummer-I want to be dereck!!! He doesn’t rock, he just plain whales. Toot toot 🐳!!!
Derek remains the most effortless drummer I have ever seen. He makes watching drumming like a dance.
Agreed. His hands are completely independent of each other. Truly an underrated drummer.
Same with Smelly of NOFX. Dude is an incredible drummer and plays those fast beats with ease!
Vinny Suffredini
True!
Vinny Suffredini amen
Robert Green awesome dude as well, met and chatted with him a few times
I want these guys to make another album!!
I wanna see Blink cover this song :P Mark would be awesome at back vocals xD
+Enzo Heavenly yesss, I agree

They were the first band I saw live, they are also the best I've seen live.
I was so happy to see Alk3 on Guitar Center Sessions, one of my favorite bands! These dudes get better with age.
This is SUCH a good live preformence. matt´s voice is really good, the harmony between them all´s there too. jesus this is good, !"
So fucking good. Dans back up vocals are a thing of beauty.
One of the best albums i've heard in a ages!
one of my favorite songs of all time ... it's a total masterpiece
Um caso típico, onde a versão em questão fica muito melhor que a versão do álbum ❤ adoro essa música!
I remember when this album came out. A total trip.
Amazing performance! Flawless 🔥
My fave band of all time. Every song I can relate to.
Havent listened to these dudes in years. That song was great!
Yeah, I watched it, there should be re-runs of it and if you catch it make sure to record it! Awesome set.
Incredible chemistry
Awesome vocals, can already see Matt comfortably fitting in blink...
That is a disgrace to alk3 and all of their fans. Come on now.
Constantine1222 Why do you say that?
Constantine1222 you know nothing
Man these AK3 Guitar Centre sessions were so fucking tight 🤘🏽
Such a good performance. Love this show also.
So happy Matt's replacing Tom. Is he also staying in Alkaline Trio?
Yes, thankfully. He's not a permanent member of Blink. Just a fill in.
Anthony Ricci actually you're wrong lol. he will likely be a permanent member in the coming weeks. They're already adding more shows with Matt. He still wouldn't quit Alkaline obviously.
+iBlink guess what he's permanent :) Can't wait For California
jiggins007 on a magazine article I think alternative press it said Matt is joining but Alk3 fans shouldn't worry because he's still working with alkaline trio and will still tour with them!
Hi I'm a time traveler from 2020, hes already recorded 2 albums with them and cemented his place in blink
Awesome!
I wanna be a waaaaarhoooole
They are punk rock gods.
You all just can`t imagine how long I wait this!
I love this performance of I wanna be a Warhol
¡¡¡ Que pedazo de canción y pedazo de grupo !!!!
So good!
didn't even recognize derrick until he gave this look to the camera and then i was like "yup that's him" lol. it was his evil face for half a sec lol
Amazing!
Joe Rogan killing it on Bass.
If you notice when the camera pans, there's two guitar cabs that are both mic'd. They're probably mic'd L & R channels. I know what you mean though, the guitar itself sounds full and amazing, couldn't agree more.
Awesome performance!
Ya vi este video como 10 veces esta semana... I wanna be a Warhol!
Nice as fuck. Alkaline trio é fodaaa. Cheers from Brazil
What. A. Band.
It always amazes me how Skiba seems like he barely strums anything yet the sound is there !
Cuz of a compresor pedal i guess....
The best band

The guitar sounds like it's doubled but there's only 1?? Sounds so good!
I wanna be a little piece of history
Let's go, I wanna be a painting for all to see
Let's go, take a trip, take a big hand full of these
And swallow, just a headache a fuzzy memory
Tomorrow
I wanna be a Warhol
Hanging on your wall
You down there looking up at me
I wanna be a Warhol
Displayed on your wall
Hung up there staring back at you
Staring back at you
Give me a taste of your misery
Let's go, won't you please come play chemistry
And sorrow, I can't believe anything that you're telling me
Let's go, the walls are closing in and melting
Nice and slow
I wanna be a Warhol
Hanging on your wall
You down there looking up at me
I wanna be a Warhol
Displayed on your wall
Hung up there staring back at you
Staring back at you
I wanna be a Warhol
Hanging on your wall
Staring down at you
I wanna be a Warhol
Displayed on your wall
Still hung up on you
Still hung up on you
Still hung up on you
Legend🤘
better than tom delonge at live
Always better than tom.
Anyone is better than Tom
+himynameisdinie Fuck you
+OnlineSongs 182 I think we found Tom DeLonge...
+Fajar Fathurrahman I agree but who gives a fuck
Repeat on exponential

Matt is the only one who still has hair and he's balding we must help him!
Del They got hit hard lol. They all look good though
Trash .Boat not bad looking bald guys at all but it would seem weird for all thee of them to be bald
Statistically unlikely definitely
This perfomance is awesome!!
What model of sunglasses is using Matt Skiba?
+Andres F RB4178 brown.
damn awesome

God, Matt, turn your presence knob up!
💜🤘
just so so so fu$£ing good!
So much win
its like being in alkaline trio makes you go bald
Cool.
What happened to the scorpion tat behind his left ear??
still there.
where do you get that Matt never palm mutes? Hell yes, private eye, crawl...
That Ducati sticker on his guitar is rad!
cool
FUCKING PERFECT
Did anyone catch the actual thing on DirectTV? I want a full setlist.
Will new video with their perfomance?
Which model of Rolex is Matt wearing?
What's up guys

It is simply easier to play live - This way they don't have to sustain an entire show overworking their throats :-)
This topic is interesting.
+UnderclassHero24c Just try playing it half a step down then.
Anyone knows which Ray Ban's model Matt is using on these performances?
I believe he's wearing the Justin's in tortoise
Is it sad I think this sounds better then the studio version?
Nah.
What's sad is the lack of acoustic videos of them here on YT.
Jt H. Than*
Matt your one of my favorite vocalists but I just couldn't get into it when I saw you in blink.
thatd be cool if they got hot water music
Why does the guitar tone on all of these sessions sound so muffled?
I was wondering the same thing. The guitar tone in "Cringe" doesn't sound like the one in the album
Kevin Chavez Bad sounf mixing by the sound guy
Who gave Matt a black eye?
Miss d grant
Why I can hear Cheap Trick I don't know?
Amazing song! Way too much auto-tune, though. Reminds me of that AOL thing they recorded in 2008.
I want to be a musician so fucking bad
Holy shit they got so old where'd the time gp
why did you leave this awesome band matt?
He didn't leave shit hahahaha
Read your music news.
Mat fucking looks like 2017 Mark Hoppus
I feel like an asshole cause I was like #667...
Adriano parece que se caga encima cuando canta
Where Matt should have stayed.
He's still there you ignoramus
nooooooooooo why is Derek bald now?
I'd go gay for Matt. #DivaForSkiba
drummer is like Joey Jordison and Travis Barker having kid
Radya Mardika Derek is way fuckin better then Barker
Skinhead Derek is creepy
seems that they slowly become a skinhead band! ;)
Ugh, too much autotune
Gilpow where are you hearing it? xD
Chalk Outlined
Everywhere in this performance... Sure, not as much autotune as popstars, but still
This performance doesn't have autotune. I guarantee you that
you don’t know what auto tune is, obviously.
The autotune is very obvious. 1:05 is a good example.
