Farewell to Mirko Toller suffering from sma - together with Checco Zalone for research.

Mirko Toller had been the protagonist together with the Apulian actor in a commercial on research to combat spinal muscular atrophy. Mirko passed away when he was only 16 and Zalone himself published a farewell message: “Keep sending us your smile, because we still need it”.

Mirko Toller was just twelve years old when he was at the center of the commercial that invited donations to the national association of SMA Families for the fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy. He already enjoyed some popularity with the UA-cam channel “Mirko and Linda show”, in which Mirko and his sister Linda talked with irony on various topics, from TV series to football. The last video on the channel dates back to 20 September 2020. Mirko lived in Segonzago, in Trentino. From the politically incorrect video with Checco Zalone a good relationship had developed between the boy and the actor, who had shot another commercial in 2017, and the Facebook group "Mirko Toller fan club" was also born on the net.

Spinal muscular atrophy, abbreviated to SMA, is a genetic disease that affects the nerve cells of the anterior horns of the spinal cord, from which the nerves to the muscles and which transmit motor signals originate. SMA affects approximately 1 in 10,000 newborns and is the most common genetic cause of infant death. There are three forms, of which SMA I is the most severe and affects about half of patients.
