- Chicago is a wonderful, walkable food city. We have cuisine from around the world, and many of the best restaurants and bars are located in our River North neighborhood. Locals and tourists can enjoy this walkable neighborhood for lunch, dinner, or happy hour all year long.
Tour guide Andy takes you for a walk along Clark Street from the River to Ontario Street to show you some of the very best that River North Chicago has to offer.

So glad I found this video. I’m staying in River north with my kids next month and am so happy to see the neighborhood looks lovely and walkable.
Thanks! I grew up on the north side of Chicago and haven't been back in many years. Am going to visit this summer. This was helpful.
River North is the area my wife and I stay when we come to Chicago, very walkable with a ton of restaurants options, just a beautiful area. The tour guide is absolutely right about Portillo’s chocolate cake, yummy!!
Great video Andy, I am heading to Chicago in the spring of 2024 and I can’t wait to explore everything! I have Andy’s Jazz Club on my list and definitely want to try a few other places you’ve listed in this video so I know I’m on the right track! Keep up the great work!
Love how you walked to show us video of places Thanku LOVE THIS VIDEO FIRST TIME WATCHING MY DAUGHTERS IN CHICAGO.FOR NAVY SO THIS HELPS
I spent a lot of time in River North in the early 2000’s while attending college. Such a fun and energetic area. When I was working in the south loop in 2017, I would come to River North to meet up with a friend for drinks and dinner. For a while, it was one of the coolest areas for some time. Can’t say I would recommend River North as the top suggested area these days, but very good memories and still a lot of great restaurants. West Loop and Fulton Market seems to be the hot spot in the city now.
Great video. We live in the burbs and when we do come over it's like visiting a new city. So, your detailed guide of the area is going to be so useful for us. Keep making more videos! 😀
Beatrix is so good! Andy is so right about Grand Ave-v affordable stuff on that street. He is such a great tour guide!!
Thanks, Claire!!

Hi, Andy. Loving your channel! My partner and I are making our first-ever trip to Chicago next week (how did we wait so long???), and one of the biggest questions we have, believe it or not, is about the Chicago Dog, specifically regarding that bright green relish. Why is it so green??? I guess it's safe to eat, but it looks so strange and, you know, radioactive lol. Would love your feedback!
Great knowledge, will be in Chicago in early December, do they have the Chriskindl in December, if so, where, thank you.
Great video! Would love to see you create a food tour video of Gold Coast along N. State Street.
This is a GREAT suggestion, thank you!!
In the basement of Jaleo is an exclusive hidden speakeasy called Pigtail (also by Chef José Andrés). Many of the drinks feature pork in some way hence the name (pig+cocktail). Super intimate and amazing drinks. Expensive ($16-20) per drink and you need reservations, but worth it. Highly recommend.
Thanks for this insight and recommendation! $16-20 is about what drinks cost at some of the Riverwalk spots or downtown Rooftop bars, so it sounds like a worthwhile experience. I’ll have to check it out. -Andy
Hi there! Great video! I’m headed to Chicago for the first time in a few weeks. Is the AC Hotels in the downtown/magnificent mile a good location that’s walkable to restaurants and attractions?
Where is this area in relation to the Omni Chicago? Thank you!
We are look for the best chicken and waffles near magnificent mile.
We are also like for the best steak and burger place that’s not too pricey near magnificent mile.
Are there any reasonable hotels near Clark Street that you recommend?
Hi, is this street still blocked off? As of sept 2023?
Where is the brewery video please?

Some of the 'cheap' prices shocked me...until I remembered entrée is plat (main). C'mon people, get your French together.
I Love Portillo's Hot Dogs & Italian Beefs,
You can’t do wrong with Portillo’s!!!

What spots do you know to be more diverse? I really want to Hang out around all kinds of people and cultures!
?? Anyone haha
Hi Lia! Apologies that we missed your comment. Chicago itself is quite diverse, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding authentic and wide-ranging cultural experiences. Depending what time of year you’re visiting, there are festivals and parades celebrating the melting pot cultural of Chicago! I would recommend exploring some neighborhoods to the south of the Loop. If you want more residential areas, check out Hyde Park or Bridgeport. More commonly explored neighborhoods for visitors include Chinatown or Pilsen, which are just west of Museum Campus!
hd please
I think it’s still processing! Come back in an hour? Thanks. Looks like that auto-publish happened a bit too soon :)
@@freetoursbyfoot-chicago9698 ah ok awesome!
Portillo's does NOT do it best. Portillo's is a silly tourist destination with average food. How about cutting out the mindless hyperbole?
Agreed. Mediocre food for sure
