Red setters are the most fabulous dogs to hunt with, it is so exciting when they freeze, claw forward, freeze, crawl and wait until you are ready...

Great that he's breeding them for what they were meant for. I really like the looks with less feathering. Similar amount of feathering to my Ryman English Setter. Hard to beat any setter :)

We have an Irish Setter (father) and Golden Retriever (mother). A really interesting mix.

It's great to hear that Red dogs are making a comeback, but I don't think he is accurate about the Irish Red & White Setter. There is Irish Red Setter and Irish Red & White Setters, the Irish Red & White predate the Red Setter and are a base dog of the Red Setter. They are different breeds of Setter, not just different colors. The Irish Red & White Setters are still alive and well mostly in the UK and are considered a rare breed with probably less than 300 registered worldwide annually. Feel free to search UA-cam and you will find videos of the Irish Red & White Setter.

Es sensacional que se recupere esta raza. Yo tuve uno como los que se muestra en el vídeo. BOBBI era genial.

I picked up a red setter pup from Paul Ober and Celtic Kennels just a few weeks ago. She's a delight in the house, and showed her first real point yesterday at a mere 14 weeks old.

Great interview. I've met Gregor, and his son Connor, and hunted over Laddie. Great people and a great dog.

Great to hear of the work being done to resurrect the hunting strains of Irish Red Setters! My dad had 2 of them before I was born. My mother and the changes in farming practices since the 1970s (joining the EEC) put an end to my dad owning setters.

I love that the dogs are bred to function in the field and not to look fancy in the show ring! The show ring rarely do anything good to any dog breed...

Fine fieldwork. I have had irish setter, but a kind of show one. But I think the lighter fur is better, because of their work In the field. Field line should be appreciated more. I read a book of wartime (wwII) and how the solders/ hunters and their dogs brought food to the tables both In front and In homes when visiting there.

The bain of every bird dog trainer, released birds that don't flush well or get buried in thick, briary cover! Red Setter did very well, though!!

Ugh…. John Nash was responsible for being the Irish setter back into competitive field trial form. He was an Irish dog trainer. & he did it in the UK many years ago. I witnessed working Irish setters in Scotland in 2006
