I watch hort tube because Jim reminds me that plants are not in need of coddling, I watch garden answer because Laura reminds me to just do it.....creekside because Jenny reminds me I cant control everything....and I watch you Erin because you remind me that I don't need to control everything! Gardening is life and every garden is great in it's own way.
You just listed each of my fav garden vloggers! ❤
@@terrivance8750 they are my daily fix (along with about 4 others).....especially through the summer when I'm not actively gardening.
Very well said! They are my favorites and each one has a different story.
Nicely said. And I too watch these ladies.😊
I have to say that your relaxed approach to gardening is like therapy. I get discouraged with my garden fails and pests who find my plants nourishing, but hearing you calmly say “something will need to happen here....but just not now” and “if the plant gets too invasive, just pull what you don’t want” is so helpful. Thanks so much for the walk...your garden is beautiful.
those espalier trees… out of this world. guess i have been watching you from before you planted those.. cannot believe its been 5 years!
I love tours through “real” gardens, with reminders that not everything is picture perfect all of the time, that everyone battles weeds, and that not everything has to be done today. So refreshingly honest and encouraging! Helps me relax about my own garden. Thank you! ❤👏👏👏
" i know i have them just don't know where they are" true plants lover
I love the Belgium fence with the crabapple. Beautiful 😊
When I was a child in the 1960s and '70s, a "garden" was one or two flowerbeds plopped in the lawn somewhere, pretty but limited. As I've watched your gardening videos and others, I've come to understand the yard as one big canvas. Large (or small) sections of it can be planted with a variety of flowers, bushes, and trees that complement each other as much or as little as the gardener desires. It's a much more interesting and exciting concept of gardening for this novice. Thank you for the lesson.
Yes it's amazing how the look of gardening and landscaping has evolved thru the decades. Very positive changes I believe.
This is the time of year the weeds grow faster than the flowers. Enjoyed the stroll😊
I just have to say that you are ""so real"" I just love watching your videos!
I love your weekly stroll, Erin. I usually stop watching midway through, then work in my garden. Thanks for the motivation!!
I’ll watch the other half of your video when I take a break from weeding!🌷❤️
That backlit view of the bench and large trees is idyllic.
Oh lordy , I'm sore and tired from working in my yard today .... I thought this read " garden troll " ... and I'm here for it 😂🤷🏼♀️👩🌾
I tend to save my favorite channel videos for when I can give them my full attention...then I binge watch!
I loved Lamium dragon something for 7 years until year 8! Suddenly there was Lamium everywhere.i pulled it all out. I hired 2 men to help me get it out. This year there is little tiny Lamium leaves everywhere again. I’m doing the best that I can but it’s on full blast in there. It’s very pretty with its beautiful foliage and purple flowers but it’s a temptress. Sending grateful warm hugs to you and your devotion. It’s been a long time you’ve dedicated yourself to us. Thank you from the bottom of my gardening soul.
Love these casual walk about tours of your garden! This time of the year everything changes so fast. Happy gardening.
Hi Erin always love strolling through your garden with you! My sweet woodruff is also really having a great year! I had a huge surprise yesterday as a Jack in the Pulpit showed up in my garden! I was so happy! I had been given some Solomons seal two years ago from a friend who has a boggish yard! The Solomons seal did not do good as it was very dry that year! All I can think is that some root or seed of the Jack in the pulpit was in there and came up due to all the rain this Spring! Red Trillium would be amazing! 🤗
Thanks for the update on the espaliers, I remember thinking how ingenious it was when you planted them, and they’re far more fabulous than I imagined. I’m thoroughly enjoying these weekly walks. It’s fascinating to see all the changes in your garden. Even though I’m in my garden every day, unless I look at pictures and compare it’s difficult to notice all the little changes. Golden hour is my favourite time of day.
Loving the garden strolls!!!!
I just love your Belgian Fence, that is beautiful.
I'm so happy to meet you. I'm a fan! Love your style. Looking forward to next week.
Love the garden strolls.❤❤
I love your garden, it's so tranquil. Imperfect and perfect at the same time. Love it!
Happy Sunday! Another great stroll! Thank you 🌸
Wowzer ! Thanks for sharing such a bang-out job / display...
I love your walkabouts, so pleasant and relaxing. Morning coffee and a walk in the woods, just great. I always tried to save a plant but now I've gotten to the point of it's not worth the trouble, if your garden makes you unhappy then pull out what you don't like and put somethiing in it's place. It's wonderful to have that attitude, life is too short to go nuts about a plant. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you for doing these tours Erin!! You are one of the few gardeners that I have found that are close to my zone. My garden is about 1 to 2 weeks behind yours! ❤
I enjoyed the stroll...😂😂 I think it so funny when you say..."I showed you this last week, but you're going to see it again"
Hi Erin! Thanx for another lovely stroll, your garden really exploded this past week, luckily we are able to follow its progress. Belgian fence roooooocks! I new it’s going to be amazing from day one, cheers (of gin &tonic;-)) to that! Every time we walk by your side on a weekly stroll I discover something interesting. This crab apple Coral Burst is looking beautiful! What a wonderful idea to plant a tree in the name and memory of your beloved dog. I wonder which one out there is for Odin ❤
Happy gardening 👨🌾
Looking forward to the stroll when the climbing hydrangeas are in flower! 😊
Love your videos! LOVE, LOVE,LOVE your Belgian fence!!!
I have a tree planted in memory of a beloved dog as well. We call it “Jack’s tree” and it is super special to us.
These unedited garden strolls are fantastic!! Love love love the Belgian Fence!! I remember years ago when you needed to fix a cocktail to muster up the nerve to cut them into the correct formation 😂 i knew right then I’d be a UA-cam follower forever- you’re the best!!
Thanks for the weekly tour, love seeing your garden, as always ❤
Your hellebore/epimedium/solomon's seal...garden is gorgeous. Inspirational.
Love the tour of your garden! That espaliered crabapple is amazing! I also loved that Mr Much More Patient was vacuuming your car because my husband always does that for me when I take my friends out plant shopping or going on garden tours. 😎🇨🇦
My oh my ., the Crab apple Belgian fence is stunning!! Also the maple and beech . I can't wait to have some hostas get the size of yours. I live in Colorado at 7200' in zone 5a in a Ponderosa Pine forest with lots of deer. I have two fenced flower beds, a fenced veg garden and one bulb bed with deer resistant perennials. I do enjoy seeing your garden and have learned so much from you. My bulbs are still flowering and it looks like winter is now going to bed for sure. Thanks for sharing your lovely garden and knowledge.
Did not realize lily of the valley was so invasive. Spent days pulling out. Filled a large potting soil bag. Love your garden. Thanks for sharing.
It also forms dense tangled mass of roots that are impossible to pull out. In my mother's garden they needed to be lifted like sod, with a layer of soil, otherwise they grew back
In my garden they grow in a dry shady spot and behave
So glad I found this channel. I am always looking for gardening content that is relevant to my zone 5 situation! Thank you so much for sharing! I look forward to watching some of the older videos, too :)
Your Crabapple Belgian fence is stunning! I watched you plant those whips, and it’s so satisfy to see how well it turned out for you! 👏🥳🙌 !!
So many beautiful plants great job Erin ❤
Another great stroll through your garden. Always like learning about your trials and tribulations in the garden. I'm curious as to what you do to keep your painted ferns. I've tried growing them over several years and lose them after one year. My yard tends to be on the dry side and even with watering the ferns didn't like it enough to return the following year.
I so enjoy your garden strolls. I should know this because I've watched you forever. But how do you water most of your garden bed. I know you get pretty consistent rain in the spring but what about in the summer? Thank s for taking your limited down time to make a video.
That crabapple espalier 🤩🤩🤩 That clematis took off !!! TFS
I’m loving all the videos recently!!!
love love love this tour. a 10. one of a kind, just like you. ;)
Thanks for your videos and the inspiration. I am pretty jealous of all your shade, lol
And, Erin, my sweet woodruff went absolutely nuts this year! Easy to pull tho.
I love that tie-dyed flower 😍
Wow nice❤
Thanks for the tour. I am enjoying the weekly stroll. I am with you about the groundcovers. If they are an easy pull they are welcome in my garden. Lamium, Sweet woodruff. And I think I saw some groundcover ginger near the lamium. I love my ginger, I think frolicking groundcover is more welcome as I grow older and wiser. They reduce cost and effort!!!. OMG your Belgium fence is Stunning!!!! Thanks Erin
It’s awesome.
Golden Alexander!
Thank you! I bet you were screaming that at the screen. 🤣
Love these garden tours. (I’ll take some of those Lilly of the Valley off your hands. Lol. I love them.)
Good morning! Drank a whole cup of coffee while I enjoyed your beautiful tour! Love the flower vine on that diamond lattice in the beginning of the video. What was the name of it? Captions didn’t pick it up.
I have pots of plants throughout my garden I had divided a bunch of various plants earlier spring and some last year I haven’t planted due to weather and wanting to get our new fence stained…hoping to get a week without rain.
Even though it feels like a push to get gardening stuff done. Ya just can’t help but smile over your efforts thus far.
See ya in the next video with another cup of coffee in hand 🥰🌺🌻
:) Royal Raindrops Crab Apple
@@heathermcelroy7171
Thank you for letting me know…the Royal Rainbdrops is very pretty! My grandmother had crab apple trees … didn’t know they had ones you could train like that.
I adore my fothergillas! I have the taller variety, and over the years, they’ve had offshoots that are now nice shrubs themselves. Seven in total now!
Thanks Erin. 💐💚🙃
I love these unedited strolls! What is the no roots problem? My first guess was jumping worms. But I am really hoping it's my second guess: gophers, moles, or voles. I have gophers and moles so everything new, except grasses, goes into a gopher cage or bag. Sweet mercy let it not be the worms.
My hostas do pretty well in a sunnier spot. I am in Upstate NY. They seem more vibrant and much larger. But we have wonky, cloudy weather most day lol
♥
When white trilliums turn pink, it means they have been pollinated. If you rub the seed heads in your palm before they turn hard and brittle, the scattered seeds will germinate much faster then waiting until the seed pods break open.
Oh wow! That is fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
I planted Bishops Weed for a shady ground cover years ago, still trying to eradicate it 20 yrs later lol! It's a beast.
But it’s so pretty.
Great garden stroll so nice to see all the plants
Erin - that very last moment in the video with “all the things” was amazing !!!!
Erin, I have always cut back my bulb foliage after a few weeks, even tho everyone says not to. I leave a couple inches. And everything comes back just fine.
Nice to see your garden again!!! ❤… love your shade spots, dealing with lot of slugs here in the east VA
A hosta I have that I haven’t heard you mention in your garden is Victory, it was hosta of the year years ago. I have a number of them in dry shade they are huge after 3 years and gorgeous!
I’m not familiar with that one. I’ll have to look it up.
I have never been unsubbed from a channel, like many. I believe it is because I always set for all notifications.
Someone else said that UA-cam did some sort of update so people may have to go back in to make sure their notification bell is highlighted if they aren't getting notifications. Question about your hostas as I know you have deer - I thought they ate hostas? If there is one they dont like I definitely want to plant one.
I love your channel, thank you for sharing. I even lost a few Eastern White Pines to needle cast last year.
I can’t believe it’s been 5 years on the Belgium fence!!! What do you do when it reaches the top? Will you train it to run across or just clip it off? It looks soooo good! I knew when you planted those whips they’d be a success, even if it did take some liquid courage on your part!
Voles destroy roots like that. Their holes are probably hard to see because your garden is full of beautiful plants.
It’s not voles. That was my first thought as well. Have confirmed it’s a massive jumping work infestation.
Bunnies like Fothergilla buds that set in the fall. Great nibbles when there is snow cover in winter. I've had to wrap mine in chicken wire in late fall. Did you protect yours?
I feel like I walked over this pile of grass many times now!!! Me too.
That big mystery Hosta sure looks a lot like Empress Wu, which means it will only get bigger!
Everything is looking fantastic. This is such a busy time of year for gardening, and some very backbreaking chores. With that every time you mention lily -of the -valley, I spend hours pulling, digging it out, coming under my fence from the neighbour’s property. What a nightmare and I know it won’t be the last time. Thanks for sharing your updates. 👍❤️🙂
The ‘root pruned’ clematis really came back strong very quickly! Guess it’s happy with all that new compost 👍
Whoa! That planting time gin and tonic did well! Royal Raindrops was the way to go, the effect is stunning.
I have some Lilly of the VALLEY, I like how it spreads and keeps some of the weeds out. I'm not going to lie getting older. You love anything that isn't a weed, LOL ❤
I’m loving this style of videos.
Beautiful ! Love all the shade gardens … don’t have too much here. All those shades 😍.
Also those cherry trees on your garden fence❤😍😊
I love the apple espalier it so gorgeous with the flowers! You garden is waking up coming alive with beautiful things👍😎❤️
I love the comment about aggressively growing plants, in specific, lamium: just cut it out where you don't want it!!! I admit that it's taken me years to finally give myself permission to cut back/dig up what's become massive (for me) drifts of lamium, orange coneflowers, echinacea, bee balm, and mtn mint, and more, but this spring I was all-in! I also am finally cutting back shrubs that are taking over crucial space/sun from their neighbors and everything seems to be as happy as ever!! I do try to transplant what I've dug up to other spots, or give the extras away and that works well, even if I have to pot them up in the interim. So pleased to hear you talk about this!!
Gorgeous as always Erin!!! Beautiful tour 💚💚💚
Plenty of good moments!
I have a Meghan ‘s angel hosta that did that this year. I recall it being a meh chipmunk eaten mess last August and not very big. It’s big and gorgeous now and Im determined to keep it soaked in Bobbex. Your garden is so lovely. Never gets old!
So nice to see what’s coming up and hear of your upcoming changes! 🌼🐝
Loved the stroll through your garden areas.
Everything looks gorgeous 😊
Always enjoy your videos. Appreciate you taking the time to show us your garden, especially when you have lots of planting to do! I just planted Fizzy Mizzy and it looks wonderful. Here's to hoping it comes back next year, since I am your same zone. I love my ground covers too, and as you said, not to hard to edit. Happy planting week.
Great tour thx Erin
I need to know where you got those pop-up greenhouses!
Last week she said she’s had them for a long time and they don’t make them any longer.
@@sheilastromberger2275 Thanks for responding!
Thanks Erin
Erin,
I found a way to work around UA-cam's repeated failures to give new video notices--I keep my fav vloggers' home pages on tabs & just go directly there every day or 2 to see them what's new. 😊
Your garden strolls are terrific! . I also deal with invasive lily of the valley, and I seem to pull tons of it out every year. I look forward to hearing how you deal with it!!
Erin it all looks fabulous!!! Now about that tree... I'd be digging the "Magoo" out of there it's obviously not happy which means the gardener isn't happy, can't have that!. I have been running with that philosophy and so far I have been so freaking surprised at how much happier I am. Thanks for all your inspiration your perspiration has given me. Sun is finally shining here and I am so ready! P.S. I know how to hunt you down..er...um....obviously I mean your videos !
I do like all the landscaping. But have you thought about a Japanese maple tree??? That's some color.
I have two beauties. And I’ve lost several in polar vortexes so I’m wary about adding more unless I can find a protected spot.
Love to see these tours…laughing at the weeds lyings beside some of the beds. It is what it is! About the alliums, yeah! Just discovered how much they spread. I have one growing in the lawn in my backyard when their are planted in my front yard. What?.. According to a video I saw, it seems those are difficult to dig out. Have you found that?
❤🙏
Okay but I live in the woods zone 4 and almost everything I plant gets eaten by some sort of bug but I never actually see anything. No slugs hiding out, no tiny caterpillars under the foliage. How on earth do you keep anything from getting demolished by invisible insects? 😢
Erin, just wondering what happened with the clethra along your driveway border. I remember when you were first planting that area but I don't recall any clethra updates. Thanks for the tour's looking great!!
They are looking great! Every one of them overwintered well.
