Not only is Hojlund only out for 6 weeks but the injury already occurred 8 days ago. United’s first league match isn’t for another 12 days as well. Realistically he’s only going to miss about 3 weeks after the season starts. So he’s only missing 3-4 matches bigger picture.

13 assists for Nunez last season was not by accident. He creates a ton of opportunities for Salah, Gapko, Jota, and Díaz. The Liverpool front three all feed off each other and score and assist each other. His assists are very important because Liverpool’s front three actually work as a collective unit. Nunez is not an out-an-out striker as well. The Liverpool front three interchange positions by design all the time. And Nunez frequently either plays as a winger or drifts out wide when he’s the 9.

The lack of situational understanding from ESPN FC is embarrassing. Zirkzee is just coming back from holiday. Rasmus Hojlund is enjured. Even with Jadon Sancho playing as false 9 because of his great linkup abilities, United created more clear chances than Liverpool but the difference is United didn’t capitalize on those chances and Liverpool was very efficient with the chances they created.

Says it all about the level of punditry that no one mentioned Jota's injury history. Excepted better especially from Don because he probably follows Liverpool more closely than the others. Both Nunez and Jota have issues. Nunez performances are erratic. Whereas Jota can't stay fit. There's an element of high risk in terms of making either one the main option upfront.
That would indicate that those are static things that never changes. And if they do, LFC have a plethora of other options.
LFC most productive forward line last season was DIAZ , Nunez Jota, with 32 points out of 36, it worse was when Gapko and salah played.. Don spent his career as a double, he acted as player and agent,, that why he had more clubs than Tommy Docherty

He’s not a flop. Anyone who watches him knows that he’s extremely effective and places the opposition back line under loads of constant pressure. But he needs to be much more clinical. That’s the reality.

Nunez scored 17 goals and got 12 assists last season, he's a work in progress but he's improved every season and if he improves again that means he will have 30 goal contributions or more. So let's have some context, he's not Anthony, those numbers aren't terrible

United's problem is they always buy expensive players that are one season wonders the season prior.
Hoijlund needs service and he can get the 20 goals. Which proven strikers are available aside from Toney. The club is moving away from the model of buying older players so things will take time. When Salah goes Liverpool will be an entirely different proposition.
Hojlund literally had the single highest shot conversion rate in the entire league last season from Christmas on. The problem for him is United wingers like Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, and, to a lesser extent, Amad are all shoot first inverted wingers who rarely provide him with any type of decent service. To compound matters last season, both Shaw and Malacia being out at left back for the vast majority of last season deprived him of virtually any first time service from the left wing on the overlap. Fill in LB’s like Dalot, Wan Bissaka, Ambrabat, and Lindelof were all right footed and had to constantly cut back onto their right foot instead of providing first time service into the box. Hojlund is not anywhere close to United’s biggest problem at all. He’s a very good forward but he actually needs service.
10h literally played Mctom as CF last game :)), and he looked quite ok actually, he's basically useless anywhere else, but his presence in/near the box makes sense
United players always prioritise taking the shot over assisting. They miss out on so many tap ins.

Zirkzee is a no:9.5, that’s the closest that Manchester have for no: 9 at the present. Play him in community shield.

Sancho doesn't really have a place in this team, so he was a fill-in for Hojlund or Zirkzee as a false 9. He didn't do that well, but I wouldn't make any big predictions about how they'll play this season based on that. As a wide player, it's tough to play in the middle of the park. Sancho needs a move so he can kick start his career.

No matter how many chances a team created, if it doesn't result in a goal, it means they failed to take their chances and have failed to score. Hence they can't be the best side. Make it make sense.

The whole Nunez narrative is such bs, and they act as if Jota is a goal machine , Jota misses chances too and more importantly disappears in some games (ask Wolves fans), If he was such a beast player why did Portugal not play him? he is a good player but not like what pundits are making him to be (and he misses a lot of games due to injury), he missed a couple sitters during pre-season (if it was Nunez he would have been criticized to oblivion). Unlike most pure strikers Nunez creates most of his chances and had 14 assists last season, he doesn't get the service that lets say Haaland gets at City where most of his goals are basically tap ins, he doesn't take penalties to pad his stats and he does a lot of defensive work and opens up space for the other forwards....He is a great player to have in any team and unfairly treated by the press who wants to sell sensationalism...

I like the idea of starting Jota for 60-70 & and bring Nunez and his energy to close out. It cuts down Jota's minutes and risk of injury....and regardless of his sporadic finishing ability, defenders dread chasing a fresh Nunez at the end of games. That in and of itself has an impact.

The standards and expectations are so low for Utd and so high for LFC, so if Utd have shots and have what resembles chances based on LFC starting poorly means that they were by far the better side despite going down 2-0. They even claimed Rashford looked good while he ran down blind alleys and never troubled Kelleher.
He also claimed Jota is not doing something spectacular but is effective despite Jota repeatedly dribbled past Utd players and have done so throughout his LFC career.
