I always feel that these videos where people share their mistakes are the best videos. They have valuable lessons in them. Great Tip! Even experienced drivers have to remind themselves
It was a great lesson for me, and a reminder never to get lazy about driving safely. The time you don’t do what you know you should do, can be the time that you have an accident. It was a real wake-up call for me.
Thank you for sharing this. My husband asked why we check right as we're about to make a right turn and now I can explain to him why. My driving instructor told me that you need to check right just before you go and my husband said, no, we only do left, right, left but we weren't sure. Thanks for this!
Always look where you are heading, is the first rule of driving! The same almost happened to me too, and I thanked God and all the angels that I didn't go into the car that was coming directly at me. Drive safe!
You say the oncoming car was doing nothing wrong, however, the law does not permit you to exceed the speed limit in order to pass. That's an important distinction, because in that event he created a much more dangerous situation. Glad you saw it, but that guy made an unsafe maneuver as well.
Just found your channel on the rearview mirror video, and loved it. I will check out the other videos too. I have had this happen before but the person got over quickly. The issue is those passing vehicles are usually hauling!! I put some of the aftermarket wide-angle round mirrors on my side mirror, to also see a few lanes over on each side. The interstates I drive on have 5 + lanes. But I am finding out they are terrible when the sun hits them, with total glare compared to the standard mirror. It could be because the ones I put on are so cheap, I will have to research that and see if there are better ones.
first thank god your safe and ok. 2. i understand you should have looked right first because you might have seen the car coming down in your lane, but how would you have seen that car from that far down....? i mean you did a defensive move by going into the shoulder.... but did the on coming car slow even down a bit?....the question here is yes you have the right to pass the other drivers but isnt if its like 1 car not 7 in a cluster line?.....what happen to you reminds me of what i see on trash day when drivers behind the trash truck cant wait to cross the double yellow lines and pass the truck.... often a few times they will be in the left travel lane of cars coming down. i ve seen near head on long collisions.... i dont try that i will wait and go behind the truck and stop at every stop until i can get off the road and go another route. i wont chance passing the trash truck.....drivers behind hate sometimes they honk horns to intimidate me to go around. i ignore those horn blasts....my motto is to travel smart not fast. Basically as a new driver i will wait until i feel im safe to go....some times i may have to wait 10 minuets to pull out on to a busy intersection. If i see a string of traffic in the other lane ill count the cluster line of cars while i wait and let at least 4 or 5 cars go past ... then i do a look both ways again then i pull out...... but yeah if your in a hurry.... you gotta be very good at doing crash aversion techniques.... Another thing stan is when on country roads be on look out for deer and slow down when going over country bridges.... especially if they are 2 lanes.... some of these newer trucks such as a 4x off road ford monster trucks are so wide they take up almost the width of an emergency lane.... Anyway may st. christopher patron saint of trucks and cars always be with you! ❤🙏🌠🗽
I appreciate you taking the time to share this, and it's so true that you shouldn't go until you're convinced it's safe to do so. Never rush your turn, pull out into traffic, or attempt to pass another vehicle if you don't have total confidence that you can do that safely. You've got wisdom. And thanks for the kind words of support!

Just hoping it will help someone else.
Scary, I'm glad you are ok.
Thanks for your help
You’re very welcome!

You're welcome, and I'm just glad I lived to tell about it.

Thanks for watching! Some blind spot mirrors are definitely made better than others. You might try out some different types and manufacturers.
Depending how fast the car was going, there might not have been any way you could see it until it was close on you.
Sounds like they should not have passed so many cars at high speed near an intersection but i wasnt there.
They probably shouldn't have, but I could've been more careful. Anyway, it shook me up a little. I'm glad to still be here.

I gree 100% ! I think that uncoming car was wrong, and its driver should have slowed down !
