- Adding 9 new tubes to my collection. As I build my collection, I am finding that these paints are really over-looked. I could go right to Daniel Smith or Qor and pay an arm and a leg, but I have everything I need right here with Lukas 1862, which are reasonably priced!

Cobalt violet is pretty! That's a biggie in watercolor landscape painting to keep a sky or water feeling "warm".
Great tip, thanks so much Rebecca :)
Big fat tubes, very affordable, and artist quality!
I like the lukas paints per ml they're really good priced. Colours are nice too.
You've tried them then? I was thinking of sending you a dot card :)
Malamik Art thank you for the offer. Strangely the next video I'm editing is a review of this brand!!
Great! I cannot wait! :) :) :)
Is the Lukas ultramarine blue deep the same color as the turner one?
thank you for sending me some of these paints! I totally love them they are so underrated. I think they are my top pick for affordable paints in tubes! sooo much better than cotman for just a little more.
Just my taste of course, but I think the QOR PY129 is worth getting, for landscape-y type stuff anyway. It has a little more texture, similar to its 'sister' pigment PY150.
I do have it and I cannot tell the difference between the Qor and the Lukas version. That said, I'd rather buy more of the cheaper Lukas in the future, same quality. :) Disclaimer: I really do love Qor for it's vibrancy and their aquazol formula. I think if you can afford them, I'd buy them all up!
the Lukas paints seem to be really nice. What I was wondering about while watching the video was the Cobald Violet. For some reason Schmincke only provides a Cobald Violet hue without pigment number. Maybe Lukas would have been a better choice for that. :) The English Red Deep looks a little like the Caput Mortuum from Schmincke. Love your portraits, the way you paint skin is so inspiring. Just today I took a look on your Instagram pictured in the hope to learn how you do it :)
I think that cobalts tend to be more toxic than others, so schminke may have an issue with that. This brand has had it tested through the ACMI tho, and rated as AP (safe). This one also granulates, so I'm pretty excited about it :)
I'll do a color mixing video on skin tones soon :)
That may be it. I just wondered, why Schmincke didn't provide the pigment numbers to this one color only.
LanaGoesArt I think I learned recently that cobalt was originally made with Murcury? I’m probably misremembering that so don’t take my word as gospel, BUT...I’ve come across multiple paints from multiple manufacturers that don’t have a pigment number as well. For instance, all of Daniel smith’s primatec paints don’t have a pigment number because the ground up stones they use don’t have a pigment number. It just means that whatever they used to make the paint hasn’t been registered as a pigment, so unless they decide to say “we made this by crushing up your hopes and dreams. And some flowers.” They don’t have any way of labeling it.
That Lukas Red is really pretty. :D And don't worry about the mess, it happens, but you could potentially treat it as a happy incident; instead of a brush, you can use a finger to swatch the paints next time. :D
I'm really good at messes it turns out :)
Shhhh, they're just happy accidents. :D
Love the swatch Mikki 🎨 Do you collect them together for specific brands?
Hi Dennis! I tend to like the cheaper cost and same pay-off type paint :)
why nobody does a proper lifting test? i want to cry.
lifting properties at official chart are so miss informative...
Cassiopeia Lift has a lot more to do with the paper which uses different sizing then it does with the paint, so lift tests are inconclusive unless you are using the same paper as me.
