Timing chain tensioner. Helps keep the slack out of the chain. They wear out over time. Pretty easy to replace. I had an 87 Buick Regal that dropped the timing chain. I replaced the chain, the tensioner, new gasket. Unfortunately when I got the car it was a jigsaw puzzle and since that was the first car I ever did with a distributor I couldn't get it to run. I am pretty sure the valves tapped the piston heads. Long story short easy preventative maintenance replacement.
What symptoms was it doing? For you to replace timing chain
its called a damper, it creates tension on the chain to regulate timing.

If your car won't start, have you checked for spark? Maybe the coil or coil pack (fuel injected?) is the culprit. That is the tensioner, by the way.
I hate y'all.... Really..... I'm needing to see the whole dam process not dam highlights
Not to my knowledge. My manual doesn't say anything about that.
ur not very smart are u dude it keep the chain tight so when the chain weak it doesn't pop off or slip the timing
that is your tensioner set your timing replace the chain and gears and that piece and you will be good
