    I have been looking for some food science channels and there seem to be none. Then I found this channel. This is a niche just... ahem... ripe for the picking. You're doing awesome so far with the presentations and I hope you do more. I'm learning a lot and finding myself hungry for more. I am really looking forward to learning more about my food!     Okay, so let me get this straight....is it not good to vacuum all the air out of the bag? 🤔 I thought we were supposed to vacuum all of the air out to keep the beans fresh.

      I bought organic coffee beans that came in a bag that had no valve at all. So I put the whole coffee bag inside a gallon size vacuum zip bag. Then used the handheld sealer on it. So is that wrong?

    So how come a compressed brick of coffee never inflates? I thought it was for pumping inert gas into the bag.

      You're right that usually inert gas is pumped in but it doesn't have to be through a little valve. Instead it can be done like this ua-cam.com/video/DHO3A_gimfY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=PACMachinery

      Any of those hard packed bricks or metal cans like Folger's means they have to wait days to pack their beans into those containers. That's the only way to ensure the coffee has de-gassed enough. There will be some CO2 released inside the hard pack, which will soften it a bit over time.

      Thank you for approving the comment. Haha. I've not noticed any lack of freshness in vacuum packed ground coffee such as Jacobs. Most of the degradation occurs later after it is poured into a jar.

      @@j7ndominica051 I've never purchased the brick pack coffee before and kind of forgot they existed! I see them now more that I live in Europe but maybe I just overlooked them in the US
