Depending on your location, public area may be so high pressured hunted that by the time Saturday comes around, you may not see any birds left. In California, your only shot is opener and the 2nd day. Anything after that, the birds are gone.

Well, I didn’t limit out yesterday (although I should have; my shooting sucked) but I killed a Banded Dove! We didn’t see the band untill we were cleaning the birds, but we knew it was mine bc it was attached to the only bird without a head, complements of my neck-wringing in the field.
That’s what we do is just pull their heads off
Man so many birds in the morning and my shooting was piss poor at best I killed 1 dove all morning with like 30 shells but in the afternoon I was able to get it done and kill the rest of my limit with one box
@@Mffl1014 Funny story, I just met the guy who banded that dove tonight at a local football game; he works for the county DNR and says they banded and trapped a hundred birds at a different spot in the county, and that’s where it came from. So, it’s not so special as a bird banded in Minnesota or something, but very cool nonetheless.
That’s awesome! I think most dove bands are shot very locally but I think they are great regardless!!

I love marinating pheasant breast in Italian dressing and Do almost chicken cutlet style in a frying pan. Just lightly breaded with some seasoned flour or season Panko breadcrumbs

Awesome! Here in upstate SC, I have to hunt smaller fields with trees on border. Birds will sit in the trees above the feed unless there’s enough hunters to keep them moving. Never had a 2-man hunt where we limited! Usually need a dozen or more…
The more hunters the better! Birds definitely move more and give better opportunities when the field is full
My 2021 season was rouuughh down in AZ!! Didn’t come close to limiting out, birds just weren’t flying like they usually are. Still a good time though of course! Looking forward to next year already!

here in az as well. last year they were everywhere and flying. we didnt have much rain. this years monsoon hit lot harder than last, i think it may have pushed em out sooner than they usually go. got a couple today and well see how tomorrow mornign and night and monday look, and see what our late season will look like this year

I know how frustrating it can be to put in so much work and get so little out of it. So, you can’t shoot birds that aren’t there or, if your just missing shots, then it will click fir you eventually!! Remember, every “failed” hunt is just a hunt that you can learn from! What didn’t work, what you could change, how would you do it differently next time.
If your judging your life by how successful you are at killing dove, please reconsider. Happy belated birthday and I wish you the best dude!

I do Italian dressing on chicken all the time.
Always good to see the kids. I wish I could do similar things with my boys but Germany has some very strict hunting laws and as I'm not a citizen it's almost impossible for me to hunt here without jumping through some major hoops and lots and lots of red tape.

What’s the average distance your shooting those at? Been on my first ever dove hunts recently and can’t hit nothing lmao! But in my defense they are all at shots up to about 50-60 yards plus. Any tips or pointers for that distance or should I try getting closer shots

Been shooting dove for 21 years just an hour northwest of you and I've only killed 2 banded dove. One of which was a double band with 100 reward. Granted the reward had expired but still cool to get 3 bands in one hunt.
