    The craziest thing about Elizabeth II is that she is truly in a class all her own: she is not only the longest-reigning monarch in British history, but since the three other people to have lasted longer in their reigns in Lichtenstein, Thailand and France are dead now and were all male, Elizabeth II is ALSO the longest-reigning female to rule over a monarchy in human history, having passed her grandmother Victoria's record seven years ago. It's such a rare accomplishment that it will likely never happen again.

    • @MajoraZ
      @MajoraZ 2 роки тому +4

      There's actually a significant amount of records we have on Aztec rulers we still have in terms of qualitative information. While there's only have a small handful of fully prehispanic books/manuscripts that survive, there's a fair amount of records made during the early Spanish colonial period that re-records a lot of information provided by Indigenous scribes, nobles, elders, etc. Some of these are still relatively inaccessable as not all have english or even spanish translations yet, but there are some that do. Duran's History of the Indies of New Spain is one of the longer, more in depth works, and has a pretty cheap, easy to buy english translation. I actually help out other history and archeology channels on youtube with videos on Mesoamerica, if Lindsay is interested and the scheduling works out I'd be happy to help her.

    1. Change your phone to the language you are learning because you’re forcing yourself to constantly read it which helps a lot.
    2. Watch tv shows in the language
    3. Make social media friends you can practice with. Social media is the biggest reason I’m fluent in Spanish and French and learning German. Try to video chat them to verbally practice
    4. If you play video games, play them in the language you are learning if you can. For example, I love Pokémon and I’ve played Pokémon in French and German.

    Would be awesome if you could include the name & birth/death years the first time a person is mentioned? For example, 4:22 Simon IV Demonford. Your videos are always so well put together & include the best visuals but sometimes my brain can't place things on a timeline. Especially in videos like this! Which sucks because they're some of the best, comparing all the different monarchs. But my favorite part is hearing the people that surrounded the monarchs. It might just be me but I will type every name in google on my phone and quietly jump around from family to family, reading little Wikipedia facts. XOXO

If the video is in english their names can be englicised or mantained in the original, which is catalan (Pere, Jaume, etc.), but chosing spanish makes a revision of history and may be led to infere that the kingdom of Aragon was somehow already then tied to Castille or even subjugated to it which was not the case in the middle ages.

    You omitted to mention King Christian IV of Denmark who ruled for 60 years from 1588 to 1648.
    Also Queen Margrethe the II of Denmark is currently - among the living monarchs in the world - the second-longest ruling monarch after Queen Elisabeth in the UK.
    Queen Margrethe celebrates her 50th anniversary on the Throne of Denmark this year. She became Queen when her father King Frederik the IX passed away on the 14th of January 1972.
    Margrethe will eventually be succeeded by her eldest son Frederik, who will become King Frederik the X.
    If all goes to plan he will eventually be succeeded by his oldest son Christian, who will become King Christian the XI. If Christian is met with an untimely demise, the next in line would be his sister Princess Isabella who then will become the ruling monarch.
    As Denmark changed the act of succession some years ago from male primogeniture to absolute primogeniture, the eldest child now inherits the throne regardless of gender. This means that Isabella’s place in the line of succession is not superseded by her younger brother, Vincent. The Queen has eight living, thriving, healthy grandkids so the line of succession is secured.
