- Whether using a growing cow or a power meter as measurement, workload can be quantified. But is it the measurement or how your body feels about that measurement more important?
In this episode of Beyond Limits, Allen Lim and Tour de France rider Tejay van Garderen dig into the interconnected relationship of dose and response.
Van Garderen explains how it feels to hit new power targets, and how he won the Tour of California time trial.
And yes, Allen starts off with a story about lifting a cow...

Beyond Limits is a new VeloNews Voices project featuring Allen Lim, PhD, about the exploration of human performance and human possibility. This project is made possible by with support from Skratch Labs and Saris.

Super Like for that salute at 6:40 while doing TT!
Love the story behind the AToC time trial!
2:50 You’d did 450 watts for 20 minutes ??!?!? What the fuck dude how do I get on this training
That’s why I try to cherish my emotion while riding.
Some of this young generation might benefit from getting a construction job this off season like Bob Roll. Working hard rarely feels good at the time until job is done or until you get paid
Coal mining. Make them appreciate fresh air.
Love this video and couldn't agree more. Don't be a slave to your data... This video has me motivated! :)
I need to be a WT Rider
Not to be mean or break any bubble, but how can your work be validated after TJ was dropped badly in the first medium size hill in the Tour?
Does any of this nutritional science have any real proven effect?
TJ would probably get dropped even if everything in his preparations was absolutely perfect...
His work is validated by pushing TJ to his very best. Perhaps that's just not good enough for the TDF. Also other variables in play as always once the race begins.
@@michwoz Why do polish guys always have to be antagonistic just for the fun of it?Do you think in your entire sorry ass polish existence you can ever ride as fast as TJ?
@@kay19833 Lol. You completely misunderstood me. TJ crashed out from the Tour, didn't he? But even if he wouldn't he'd get dropped eventually in my opinion. He is good rider but doesn't have consistency, endurance or simple luck (problems with staying focused?) for 3 weeks race. I won't even comment on your chauvinist nonsense because what you wrote is beyond ridiculous.
@@michwoz Are you as fast as TJ? are you as consistent as him? Have you achieved anything outside riding grouprides in Poland? Has anyone believed in you to a point where they think you deserve to get paid for riding? we both know all the answers to these is no. So, who are you to talk down on a pro athlete then?
Ban power-meters in pro cycling , make road cycling great again!
