This just revolutionized my OT workflow! Using this on midi tracks with trigless trigs allows you to build banks of presets by sending CCs to outboard gear. A/B testing different sweet spots while playing manually then copying them over into other tracks to build out transitions. Super cool and useful! Keep up these sick tips
Man you've already guessed some of my future video ideas haha, this method of using trig preview is useful in so many different situations! I'm glad that you found my video useful 😊
Thanks...again...you’ve really helped me get the most out of this wonderful sonic weapon with your vids, really appreciate the effort and time you put in
Thanks man, it was a real lightbulb moment when I discovered this! Keep on the lookout for my future videos as the trig preview technique can be used in other very interesting ways!
Nice tip. I appreciate your videos and the content you share with us. Question: Why not use PARTS to get 64 different SCENES? What come to mind is that you get 64 scenes with the 4 PARTS + this great tip. Food for thought.
Thanks for the kind feedback man! Actually you're right, I didn't mention parts in this video. With that you definitely can use 4 parts to get 64 scenes and 256 "mini scenes". Which is a crazy amount of versatility! Thanks!! But also that means you have to keep your track settings the same between each part which changes things. I usually have one part for an intro, one for verse and then one for chorus and then some kinda breakdown. The way you can juggle things around and have different workflows with the octatrack is just endless 😅
@tinygregmusic The OT is crazy awesome. I'm just starting to get my head wrapped around what it is capable of thanks to excellent content like yours. Keep up the awesome work, and be well. 🤘😀🤘
Thank you brother! In all honesty every time I feel like I've really mastered what the Octatrack can do I discover something new that blows my mind wide open again 😂
Would "Cue" settings be relevant to whether this technique works or not? I'm having some trouble setting this up, but I'm pretty sure I followed your instructions correctly. I was able to see that my parameter locks on the trigs were changing when I switched between them using the step and the "YES" button... What build version are you on? 1.40? Going to try again in a bit and I'll make sure to keep a checklist that I've done each step as you mentioned so I'm confident in whether or not I followed the instructions correctly. I was trying this technique out on track 8 as a master track, with track 1 as a thru machine and track 5 as a flex machine using recording buffer 5 with track 1 as a source.
Sorry for my late response buddy, I was away from UA-cam for a bit to focus on work and home. Let me know if you're still having trouble and I'll help you troubleshoot!
Yes i realised my mistake after I'd uploaded the video, kind of hoped that nobody would notice haha. It will not work if the option is switched ON so you have to make sure it's switched OFF. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll put a little disclaimer in the description 👍
It would, that would stop them from triggering even while the pattern plays. But watch out, if you activate fill mode then they'll all fire one after another!
@@tinygregmusic oh sorry I came home drunk and the unfiltered glitch effects were hitting me hard - but I really don't think I was in a position to judge or comment, sorry about - it's all night drinking in my town and I was a bit worse for wear. I actually find your videos very good, so just ignore me, if I go back today I'm sure it'll be very informative- so apologies.
It blows my tiny little mind how deep this box is. It's an enigma and you're unlocking things I didn't even imagine it could do.
I will keep unlocking things for you as long as I can! I have a list of interesting techniques to make videos on right now!
After 3 years with this sampler I thought I new almost everything about it... This just blew my mind 😲

Gonna play around with adding parts into the mix to hotswap what 10 CCs are being used… this could be really powerful

Very cool. My Octatrack is about to go in for repairs, I'll have to remember this for later. Stellar cop chase btw
Thanks man, I'll be praying for your Octatrack! 🙏
Haha yeah, I'm lucky that I managed to catch such a high speed chase on video!!

@@tinygregmusicYoure very very talented with it for real
Its Tiny Greg! Cool tip that I did not realize was a thing. I wonder if the DT has something similar.
It totally does! I might do a video on it some time actually
Great tip! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!

Thank you my brother! 🙏 Btw. I forgot to respond to your other comment. I don't have insta yet, i might set one up though 🤔
THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING VID
It's really my pleasure. Thank you for the amazing comment!
This is gold on 🔥! Thanks a lot
Thanks man! I have plenty more to come 😊
mind blown
Congrats on the 10 Billion subscribers 🤣
LOL thanks man. All that hard work really paid off 😂
3:29 please review your verbal comment on the preview without fx option OFF. Will it work or wise versa it will NOT work. Thanks.
Yes i realised my mistake after I'd uploaded the video, kind of hoped that nobody would notice haha.
It will not work if the option is switched ON so you have to make sure it's switched OFF.
Thanks for pointing that out, I'll put a little disclaimer in the description 👍
Would it also work by setting those trigs to fill?
It would, that would stop them from triggering even while the pattern plays. But watch out, if you activate fill mode then they'll all fire one after another!
:)
:D
Far to heavy the way it is.
What do you mean mate?
