In my opinion, Ray being the d-sides version of tails actually makes a lot of sense; the official d-sides mod used Mighty instead of Sonic (which I think was a perfect choice), and since Mighty's partner is typically depicted to be Ray on top of the pair's "same but different" designs and abilities compared to our main duo Sonic and Tails (in Sonic Mania Plus Mighty has a stomp instead of Sonic's drop dash and Ray has a Mario world-style gliding ability instead of Tails' regular flying), Ray logically should be the canon D-sides tails. I think if I made up the story On the Sadaria they ran out on food and Maria was drove insane she found her father working on a way to go home to earth so they can get food But the temptation was so strong that Maria wanted to kill and eat her father Insert prey d side (and for furnace one of the robot shadows in shadows game) When shadow finds Maria he’s disguised and horrified Maria tries to explain but shadow knows what he has to do… Kill his only friend
in starved lore, Eggman doesn't eat humans, he only eats animals I'm assuming the same applies here, Maria has no reason to eat Gerald because she isn't supposed to be a cannibal
@@mbfwithlyrics3305 D-Side has to be different but similar at the same time, an example is that a "frostbite" D-side instead of the silver mountain should be a hot or burning place, also the characters that would be gold and red could easily be lucho and rizzo (the reason is that both are protagonists in the same region, one from the first game and another from the second also because at the time a final battle between the two was highly expected which never happened but they did make a rom hack, a lot text :v)
