I visited the gallery last year with my children from the UK. Beautiful gallery and inspirational. The gallery is owned by a woman who didn't go to conversional school but has taught in most major universities like Harvard. She is an expert in Yoruba traditional textile design .❤❤🇬🇧
Lagos is the mecca of arts. Travel there folks if you want great stuff for your home. I was blown away when i visited. Even on the street corners at a very minimum price. Awesome!
Wole Soyinka (pronounced [wɔlé ʃójĩnká]), is a Nigerian playwright, novelist, poet, and essayist in the English language. He was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature
The man with the black barret is late Chinua Achebe, he's an author and playwright... Some of his most popular works are, "things fall apart", "anthills of savannah" etc. His works have been translated to over a hundred languages and are studied all over the world. He's widely considered the father of "African literature", at least for anglophone Africa. Since travelling is a part of learning, I'd humbly suggest You also do some research on. Fela kuti-the one with mic and white paint on his face-(the acclaimed originator of afrobeat) Prof. Wole soyinka- the burst sculpture with white afro- a poet and playwright... who happens to be a nobel Lorette in literature. You also missed Nelson Mandela, the former south African president who fought against apartheid. Somehow you passed them without recognizing any lol... Which is fine because we learn everyday. I've been with you on your journey through lagos from the beginning, as I'm always curious of the perspective of my fellow Africans about my country... Be it in the negative or positive. Keep up the great work
@ceejay8459 Prof. Wole soyinka- Does not happens to be a nobel Lorette in literature. But, the very first Black Person to Win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
@@ceejay8459 Your pretence (reply) is even worst and stupid. And Prof DOES NOT HAPPENS TO BE A NOBEL LORETTE, but he is the trailblazer of black lorette win. You "people" should learn to stop coming to the public space to undermine or belittle the success/achievement of those that are not from your tribal stock. Trailblazing is not achieved by happenstance, but by been the very best amongst your contemporary. Thank you
Wait you don't know any of those painted people?, Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, these are playwrights whose books are or were in the west african school curriculum, Nelson Mandela was also painted, Bill Clinton was also there. Well maybe it's the paint 😂😂 or sculpture.
