Good engineer perhaps but a poor public servant… The problem in Nigeria is that way too many people (both in government and among the governed) appear to have no clue about governance. That’s why this same dude was being lauded as a ‘good’ governor when he was governing one of the poorest states in the country and the only one in the SE (possibly in the entire Southern Nigeria) classified as “educationally disadvantaged” and opted to build a vanity so-called “international” airport (that’s presently virtually non-functional) when there was a perfectly good international airport less than an hour’s drive away in Enugu. Good talk. My concern is beyond Landmark and broader. A different perspective, actually!. How about starting with just the "RAIL"? An option is to concede it to an investor via a transparent bid like the GSM licenses(MTN, Glo, etc) model. That way, the government rakes in about 500m to 1b dollars as concession fees, concedes to 30 years, and will only be saddled with project management and a defined percentage of revenue to reduce the investor's risk. The Fed won't need to commit or pledge our resources which are already stretched. Existing resources can be channeled towards existing roads that are all dilapidated all over the country. Also to maximize the impact on GDP, it would be nice for the project to commence simultaneously from both ends of the country. That will reduce pressure on Lagos. We must take advantage of a huge country size to spur growth rather than create a city-country model like Singapore and delay widespread growth stimulation.

This is Absolutely the most Qualified Nigeria Minister of works and infrastructure Engineer Dave Umahi please call other Minister to come and defend their projects.
All the efforts made by the Honorable Minister especially in relating to businesses and communities impacted by this project is highly commendable. You have proved sir, that you are a leader that listen and proffer solutions. Please extend this to all other communities affected by the deviation from the existing ROW gazetted for the Lagos-Calabar coastal road in the Lekki region.
That road can be properly redesigned to allow Landmark to be. If the road is starting from that Eko Atlantic point. Then it can be redesigned to go through Ahmadu Bello way through water cooperation passing behind the beach front, passing trough twin waters, then towards the back of maruwa toward blue water apartment.. that road is spacious enough and connect back to the beach front at Jakande
If the road goes through Ahmadu Bello which is currently 2 lanes on both sdes, a lot of buildings like Silverbird and SCB towers would go down to make way for a 5 lane road. Either ways, someone would suffer.
He’s been implementing road construction projects rigorously since he was appointed.. I’m impressed. Hope the quality of the projects are high standards so we won’t be disappointed as usual.
Concrete grade 40 is bridge standard. The road will last and last like bridges. The problem will be mining activities by people along the coastal region if it is not checked.
The honorable minister of work deserve all accolade in his defense of the Lagos-Calabar coastal way project. He has demystified all doubts, intents and purposes of the project. Thanks to president Tinubu for choosing the best capable man to head the works ministry!
For a coastal road, it would be nice if a limit is set for trucks/trailers to adhere to a certain weights and there should be a check weigher sensors on the roads so that FRSC can flag off violators. This would enable longevity and minimal maintenance on the roads.
Please the honourable minister sir. Award the contract to upto four very competent companies so as to finish the job before next election. I also pray that the present president is returned to commence other very important projects like this one. Bring in competent hands to finish the job in record time so that someone will not play politics with it in future
The thinking here by the minister is calm, rigorous but insular - local as if the world is not watching. This reinforces Nigeria's reputation for not adhering to contracts. Did Landmark not get approvals from the government? Nigerians wonder why there are no long term capital investors or why short term investors ask for high interests rates. This is one reason why.
In Nigeria, things are done with impunity which fits very well with the way tinubu operates. In saner climes, there would have been a year long open consultation, the budget would be fixed and known, there would have been open public tenders and the contractors would be known. If you have to use eminent domain, all those affected would have been properly consulted and compensated. This was not even the original plan for this road, it is based on Tinubu's whims of having a coastal road in Lagos that he has now extended to Calabar and just like in Lagos, he doesn't care who is in his way, he'll just remove them and move on. What is that you say? Those affected can go to court? Sure, Tinubu is already waiting for you there.
In reference to the land contract between Landmark and the government, it's important to note that the shoreline was not included as part of the agreement. Landmark took advantage of the situation and claimed ownership of the shoreline, which is not in accordance with the original contract. Therefore, the government is not obligated to compensate Landmark for the recovery of their property, which rightfully belongs to them.
@@yetunde.y Nope. This isn't right. Every iota of the domain the business covers was paid for. The taxes generated and remitted are from the Beach Resort as well as the expansive entertainment area.
At least he has brought to light the negotiation and the area that would be used for the coastal highway. Initially we were getting wrong information from social media that all of landmark infrastructure and business will be destroyed. But that is not the case, only the beach area.
That's why is 5 lanes on either side. 3lanes for the highway proper and 2 lanes is the service lanes to connect along the road. There will be bridges overhead and under pass for entry and exit. This will be the best highway to connect states across the south.
The road will open up the hidden coastal areas for resorts development and new towns and cities may even come.Nigerian coastal areas are among the most remote.

So we won’t have breaches anymore because of a road?
If they are bent on coastal road, it must not affect the beach along the coastal road.
@@Oluyhemiefagreed. A coastal road should not be too close to the coast as this gives room to easy access to smuggling and illicit activities. The coasts of many countries worldwide is highly reserved for recreational activities linked to tourism which is a source of revenue. Rather than even building this road, we need improvements on existing road infrastructure. We lack maintenance and improvement culture. 8 years can be used to do greater this to improve the quality of lives. That should be the priority.
Who ask for coastal road?? 😂😂😂😂 Na coastal road be the next for our problems 😂😂😂
Don’t be a killjoy? You have no idea the economic impact of this project

@@henry2396 Is it after the 8 years of completing the project we would see the economic effect?? Let's wait for 8 years it's the coastal road that will save us from the economic hardship, strengthen the naira, and make Nigeria stop being poverty capital of the world... Lagos-ibadan of how many kilometer is being repaired since time of Obasanjo, let alone 700km Lagos Calabar. Dey play
A highly competent and intelligent Minister
This man knows what he is doing, kudos to him! If this comes out of President I would support and vote for him.
Lol...... very soon, Peter will deny Jesus 3x
Don't forget he is igbo 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kudos to him, really? For destroying the coastal line and all the beaches.
Soon, Nigerians will need to travel abroad just to experience beaches. Unbelievable 😳
This is Absolutely the most Qualified Nigeria Minister of works and infrastructure Engineer Dave Umahi please call other Minister to come and defend their projects.
Good representation, it is delightful to listen to him
Very good job.
This minister knows his onions. Nigerians will really enjoy mobility in the future. Is beneficial to put the right driver in the right sit.
Fantastic minister of works.
Impressive!
According to him the main contract is the building itself not the extension to the shore
Did he buy the ocean with the land ?
@@yetunde.y Nope. This isn't right. Every iota of the domain the business covers was paid for. The taxes generated and remitted are from the Beach Resort as well as the expansive entertainment area.
In Umahi we trust. ......The most performing minister in Asiwaju's government .
At least he has brought to light the negotiation and the area that would be used for the coastal highway. Initially we were getting wrong information from social media that all of landmark infrastructure and business will be destroyed. But that is not the case, only the beach area.
One of the best minister under Tinubu presidency
My governor Dav is a great and wise man
God bless Nigeria. God bless PBAT
How do we secure the route? This is going to be a lonely highway. How many entry points will there be to the highway. How many exit points too?
That's why is 5 lanes on either side. 3lanes for the highway proper and 2 lanes is the service lanes to connect along the road. There will be bridges overhead and under pass for entry and exit. This will be the best highway to connect states across the south.
Smart dude...we still need more details for the various sections
Why can’t they build a flyover bridge over the disputed areas? It may be more expensive but, it will save a lot of structures on the right of way!
The road will open up the hidden coastal areas for resorts development and new towns and cities may even come.Nigerian coastal areas are among the most remote.
Will there no longer be any beaches along Nigeria's coast?
A round peg in round hole. Thank you Sir.
Is the Federal Government's 250m "water front" for road construction or for water front related infrastructure like ports & beaches?
Good job, DAVE UMAHI, the man has his ducks in line. Umahi, could potentially become the next and the first President of Igbo extraction. The Lagos - calabar coastal road will mirror the US I-10 highway from california to Georgia with half of the road overlooking the ocean, One of my favourite roads to drive thru in the US. I look forward to driving on that road when completed.
If Dave can pull this off, he will be the first president from Igbo extract in this dispensation.
I pray for long life, good health for him.
@@Omojoy4sure Hahaha... you won't vote for him when that time comes.

You all keep voting idiots to power and think your country will change.
The government should try and reach and understanding on the landmark issue not to give room for sentiments...2 possible options is either 're route the road or relocate the landmark towards eko Atlantic or any other viable location that will not highly impact the business
In England, they will not be allowed to build that bridge at the sea front. It spoils everything.
Landmark will be compensated but how long will this road last before it is washed off due to rising seas encroaching more into the coast as a result of global warming.

I'm not sway by this so called analysis. We have hear all this grammar before but the reality is always different. A typical leader in Nigeria personal interest supersed national interest.
I'm proud of Umahi he actually knows the Job
The cost line road is a very good idea and should go on completed the landmarks group will not be affected according to the minister of works the road have more opportunity for public interest and investment.
So how many toll gate will someone pay before he gets to east from lagos?
Remove the beach and the jobs are gone…..what’s this man saying about no jobs will be lost
All signs of wickedness
Exactly!
That was a very insensitive detached comment from him.
He knows what he is doing, just doesn’t care about Landmark’s predicament.
Yeah, these people don't care. It's easy for him to speak this way.
The road is is more important than the beach
There should be provisions for cargo trains to dicongest the ports
Please sir repair the old road
kudos UMAHI. I want to drive that road to my village soonest. Please work faster.🤣
Fake
It's just 8 years don't worry
I am sad that investors interests are not protected in this country, the coaster road should not destroy existing businesses like landmark.
God bless and guide the president of Nigeria
Landmark was already on a timer. Phase 4 of Eko Atlantic sand filling had already started. Landmark boulevard is still a good hotspot
The guy knows engineering
150 meters are the required number from the shore line and NOT 250 meters as indicated by the Minister
Coastal road is needed but the should exhaust all opportunities to save landmark. At the same time 24/7 electricity and clean water could electrify the economy for the next century due to the young generation and ready to work and build wealth. So N15 trillion naira can light up and sustain Lagos state
