Hi Thank you for posting your measurements. I've always used wire traps but experience hesitation. So I built a mock one and see no hesitation at all. Again Thanks
I just installed one of these in my loft today I bought it but now plan on reverse engineering it and changing my racing sections to this style for next season. Will just have to make a chute type platform for the antenna.
Awesome work. I change my pigeon drop trap design almost yearly and they still suck. You have good wood working skills. I would try your model next, but built by me it would probably look like crap. You also have bigger pigeons as I see them, many of my birds would still escape through those 4 inch holes.
Thanks, my friend! Good to hear from you! Mount a small diameter (2cm) pvc pipe through a dowel running along the bottom of the trap to create a roll-bar. They won’t be able to get out bc they won’t be able to grab onto the base of the trap. 🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴
I use a drop trap as well. One problem I've found is that the birds barely slow down when coming in and if you are using a antenna and there are a lot of birds trapping the antenna can miss some of the birds. I had to build something that slowed the birds down when they were trapping so the antenna picked them all up.
I like this drop trap idea. I'm working on drawing up the plans for my pigeon loft. I would like to use sliding windows like you did with the same or similar drop trap idea. My big question about the loft is ventilation. I've noticed a bigger vent near the bottom of your loft in your videos. Is there a certain one you recommend or size? I just want to make sure I provide the birds with enough fresh air for ventilation. Thanks for your input! Enjoy your channel!
Glad you like the drop trap design! I love it! My loft is not sufficiently ventilated and I need to do something about that. I do have a vent I installed on the back of each section but these have turned out to be worthless. Get something that will actually provide good airflow. Let me know what you decide to go with and good luck!
You actually need some muck down mate. You definitely don't want a prestine clean loft. You want your birds to have a good immune system, they can't do that with a prestine clean loft. One sure thing you get owning pigeons, is pigeon poop. When I had them I could not believe how much they poop. You never ever want it in the water though ever. 👍. Not that this man has , it's just a metaphor. Oh and that trap is 100 percent better than bobs, bobs touch the birds backs , which they don't like. Look how fast then birds trap with that set up. Because there is zero interference with the birds body . 👍. They don't feel anything, unlike bobs. Excellent if you ask me. 👍
We built this trap based on this video. After 2 weeks a few of the birds have figured out how to get back out. Any suggestions I can do to stop this before the rest learn how?
@@BarbMuleLover if you put a dowel with a section of 1/2” pvc pipe at the bottom it serves as a roll bar. Birds will have nothing to grab onto that’s stable. I’m surprised your birds got out! Racing pigeons, or a smaller flying breed?
I do keep it closed at night for that very reason. When I was a teenager something (probably ferret) got in and killed 30 or so birds. What keeps you from flying these days?
Good question! Cat could certainly get in if I left it open. Once inside a cat could not get into any of the sections though. A ferret or stoat could get into my sections and those will kill 20+ birds.
Thanks for the comment! Due to unforeseen circumstances I am not flying Young birds this fall as originally planned. I will fly old birds and young birds in 2022 though 👍🏻
Simple but brilliant. I will have to make this to replace my existing rotting trap. Many thanks, I enjoyed your video. Ken in the UK.
Thanks Ken!! I love this trap! I appreciate your feedback!
Made a trap for my loft today based on this video. Thanks for sharing!
So glad to hear! I love mine and hope yours works well for you too!
Love the new trapping system! Let's see the new trough.... 😂🤣😃😆
Touché!!

Oh very nice! I will start on mine tomorrow. Thanks for the details. Going to be a big improvement for my loft and birds!

Thank you! Good luck and send a photo of the completed product!
Since the pigeons all showed their love for the new trap with the nod of their heads what else is there for me to do but love it also. Nice!
😆😆😆 Thanks, my friend!!

That sounds awesome!! I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Wonderful! Really appreciate it! Kalapati 🇵🇭
Kalapati means pigeon or dove hehehe..
Racing pigeon here in are popular.. Many clubs and more prices.. But here it's so very hard race.. Rain or shine weather..the race will be continue,,
I used either 45 or 90 degree (forget which one it was) PVC elbows and it worked really well for my kit box.
Hey that is a great idea!! Nicely done!
@@RFRP yes if you go through my video for my kitbox build you might see it there. Great birds and setup 👌
Have you had issues with Coopers or Sharp-shinned hawks getting through the openings and into the coop?
Never! 🤞🏻
Beautiful trap my friend
Thank you!! Appreciate your support!!

Thanks! Do you want to view each of my pigeons?
Very nice
Thanks my friend! It's an effective and simple trap.
shout out from Bambino loft tv
Thanks Bambino loft!! Great have you following!!
Been using one for years, I have opening cinched down so only one bird at a time can enter. Far superior to regular bobs, birds don't get bob scared
Yes, exactly!
Nice trap keep it closed at night, varmints don’t kill your birds it happened to me once, back when I raised pigeons I sure miss Flying birds

How wide are the top and bottom PVC strips that the vertical strips are attached to?
They are 1” x 1/2”
this nice ⚘

How about your neighbor cats, they can surely get the 4 inch opening if your forget to close it up
