Belated Congratulations.!!! I have been following Tokyo Ilama and saw your introduction there. Major major envy all the way from Melbourne, Australia. I had started looking to buy a Machiya in Kyoto in late 2019 but abandoned the idea. This is giving me insoo again...lets just get the pandemic under control and Australia open again first. Will follow your journey...
I can't imagine how excited you both are at this stage. I know self build/renovation can be stressful but the end product will be worth it. As we say here in Yorkshire - you don't get owt for nowt 🤣 See you in Ep 4.
Nice out buildings. Can one sublet in Japan? If so, it would be a nice way to pay the mortgage on down the road. I did that with just an extra bedroom and amenities during lockdown and it really helped

Yes you can and we are thinking of making a small guest house!

It's big enough for horses and cows and sheep and the in laws!
