Read by Karen Savage (librivox.org/reader/103) - Розваги
I can’t make up my mind whether Lucy Montgomery was an artist painting with words or a poet writing in prose, maybe both. Then read by a wonderful young woman who feels every nuance. Just a delight to an old lady. Thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing that lovely thought! I’m sad Karen Savage didn’t read Anne of Ingleside. I love Anne so much!
@@danielleswan3602 it has to do with a copyright issue. That's what I've heard anyway.
She does read an of ingelside
@@taramarsh6768 whoa, you can’t just say that and not provide a link! Where?!
She reads Rilla of Ingleside.
Karen savage deserves an award for voice acting
I agree! I've had such delight listening to her renditions! 👍👏👌
Anyone else absolutely love and adore Captain Jim? 🥰
Yes! He’s a grand old character! I can’t help loving him!🥰
Definitely
I wonder if there ever was a manuscript for his book?... imagine!
I read the Anne series around 1978. In the last days, I listened again to Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, and finally Anne of the House of Dreams. It made me cry when I think of how the world has changed since the stories were written and since the time I read them originally. Lord help us from the robbery of your freedoms.
Karen Savage had a great interpretation of this book. The calm, soft narration over this melancholy book was perfect, couldn't have asked for more
Check her out reading Pride and Prejudice 👍👍👏🏼👏🏼
The maturity Karen Savage has developed over the reading is just as captivating as the words she shares with us so well.
Miss Cornelia is life goals 😂
Yes!! 😂
How Ms. Savage read the line, "I don't hate them; they aren't worth it!" Oh perfect! I must have turned bright pink and had to stifle a laugh. Perfect!
I too have quickly become a fan of Karen Savage’s wonderful narration. For me she shall always be the voice of my beloved “Anne of Greene Gables”.
I too recommend that Ms Savage please record “Anne of Windy Poplars.” I finally gave up & check the book out of the library & read it myself. Of course I enjoyed it very much & laughed my way from start to finish of the chapter on Cousin Ernestine Bugle, who was an “awfulizer” of the first water. Thank you, Ms. Savage for the pleasure of your narration!
I would have loved that too. I don't think she can though, because Anne of Windy Poplars was written after all the other Anne Books and it hasn't become part of the public domain yet, so LibriVox doesn't have the right to read a book that's still copyrighted
I hate to be the one to tell you but our dear Karen Savage has passed away
I hate to be the one to tell you but our dear Karen Savage has passed away
@@azadaleffel4246 are you sure you've got the right Karen?
What to you mean Anne of windy Poplars came after the Anne books.
I grew up with the full set... though it was called Windy Willows here..
:)
I love how you can hear miss karen savage smile when she reads the dialogue in which characters would be smiling
Miss Cornelia belongs to this century ❤️😂
The way that s he reads it is so true as if she is the character in the book. I can never read a book without being distracted but when she reads all my attention is on the book🥰❤️
THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD I CAN'T EVEN!!!
😂 yessss!!!
London Calling 🙏
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT... Thank you for such a picturesque story.... Your voice, Perfection...
44:29 Gilbert, You are the Best!
You know it’s going to be an amazing audiobook if Karen Savage is reading it! Her voice is perfect as Anne. Her voice is perfect as the Bennett sisters. Her voice is perfect as the Dashwood sisters. Her voice is perfect as Anne Elliott. Her voice is perfect as Emma. Her voice is perfect as Catherine.
She makes audiobook a pleasure to listen to!
I love the way that Karen Savage says Avonlea.
I named my daughter Avonlea.
🇬🇧 at some point I heard Avonlea pronounced Avonlee-ah. I am wondering about this pronoununcation , can anyone explain this to me. Many thanks
@@suzum.9713 that's sooo sweet!!
@@Sharon_Mc I am 99.9% sure it is NOT pronounced with ee-uh at the end. Strangers sometimes pronounce my daughter's name that way.
I say it " AV-un-lee".
I think in the movie, Gilbert said, "Av-un-LEE", but I don't like that.

Thanks for your help.
I really love these and always listen at night in bed
I prefer this book to Windy Poplars.
The narrator voice is so fitting for Anne 😊
Karen sounds tired in the beginning. I'm so glad she came back, and I hope she didn't stress herself too much.
I fall asleep to this 🥰
Thank you 🙏
Me too!
I’ve been doing the same, with anything that Karen reads. I let it play all night, so that when my insomnia wakes me up, I can just keep listening and fall back to sleep. Eventually, I listen to the whole thing thing when I’m home, for continuity.
I wouldn't dare! I'd be scared to miss any!😊

Came looking for this too!
Matthew Leitner I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I couldn’t wait until it was over. Lol
Aye-von-lee-uh!?! What an awful reading.
I found a decent one via my public library's audiobooks section, but it wasn't as good as Ms. Savage.

My sister likes Anne of the Island best of the series. I like this one better, maybe because I don’t often get to read stories where the protagonists are married.
Haven’t read the rest of the series to determine if this is my favorite, however.
Thank you so much.........................................

Totally agree. Karen has brought us so much joy. ❤

You read so well, it is sheer pleasure!
I’ve been listening to these recordings since I was about 9, (I’m 20 now) and it just dawned on me that Gog & Magog aren’t real dogs! 😅
I always assumed they were big, exotic dogs from China that just happened to be very old, I know that they are stated to be over 100 years old but in my child mind I thought that dogs lived longer back in Anne days and I never gave it much thought. And when they were packed in trunks under the bed in Anne of the Island, I just thought they were very patient good dogs, but now it’s finally dawned on me that they’re China STATUE dogs! It’s rather disappointing to be honest, but I’m happy Anne has them. ☺️
Karen savage, is the perfect reader for this book
I come back to this so often. Thank you!!
I wish the third movie by Kevin Sullivan they had just stuck to this book instead of doing the weird story with the war and lost baby and the Americans . I always love this book in the series.
Now it’s too late.
I totally agree. I would've loved it more if they had stuck to the book. also does anyone else want to see Captain Jim, miss Cornelia, Marshal Elliot and Leslie?

Does anybody have a link to good narration of Anne of Windy Poplars and Anne of Ingleside. I know Karen Savage cannot do it because of copyright. She is so wonderful. If you could suggest another narrator for the other books in the series I would be much obliged.
I'm not sure myself
@@rosanamartinsafonso4028 Yea I wonder
@@rosanamartinsafonso4028 It's because Windy Poplars/Windy Willows and Ingleside were released last in the series, years after the rest of the books. Rilla of Ingleside was released in 1921 while Windy Poplars came out in 1936 and Anne of Ingleside in 1939.

who do you think of when you think of Leslie? the only person i can think of that would play her real well is Tina Majorino. She was the girl in Waterworld, Corrina, Corrina, and in the music Video "Perfect" by P!nk. when I read her description and her story, Tina Majorino is the only girl that I could imagine playing her, if they wrote a correct adaptation of Anne.
I always picture her being played by a young Portia de Rossi.
I am so grateful for this, although it is read a bit too fast for me and the narration too monotone. But then again I work in theatre and teach narration, so I have a very special idea of what this wonderful book and the characters should sound like
